When Old man Vol said 'Oh you must be finally heading to defeat the demon king' is when Frieren realized he actually was suffering memory loss. Before she thought he was joking about being senile, not remembering his wife etc.
I took it that they didn't actually defeat the Demon King back then and Frieren goes to finish him off this time.
Nah they definitely beat him. It weakens the whole premise of the story if they didn't.
The second episode was especially touching. It reminds me of my dad years ago. I carry his memory on now.

26:42 is where Himmel realizes that he should not openly confess to Frieren lest she face the same ordeal and burden that Old Man Voll has to carry after the passing of his wife.

Old man Voll is going senile, which is why he doesn't remember that the demon king was already defeated and he has also forgotten his wife's face.
As for Kraft, he is so old that people no longer knows his name even if he was a hero who saved the world during ancient days. This is why he has an existential crisis and has become religious.

@@execraebrown3990Clearly you took the wrong lesson from Frieren, you should have prayed to the Goddess.
It's pretty cool to see how defined the types of magic are and what important role each of them plays. Curses being a type of magic that can only be dispelled by magic from the Goddess shows us how important priests are, as opposed to powerhouses like Frieren who just blasts her way through most situations.

I'm glad you noticed the similarities between Frieren and Voll, when it comes to keeping promises made to long dead humans. Voll's wife and Himmel had such a profound impact on them.
Seeing that ancient statue of Kraft and his companion, it really makes you wonder just how old he is.

Every episode of this show is epic, but that dance in episode 15 exceeded even that. Then episode 16 comes around and we meet old man Voll. The ancient man sharing the name with the ancient place where Flamme's notes were found. 16 is both between and painful, because of him. Beautiful, seeing what compells a person to do such an incredible thing. Painful, seeing the condition to which he's deteriorated. I've lost family to that, and I can vouch to how accurate they were in that one.
Cool funfact: Actually frieren dont like be head pat but now she head pat her companions :D Poor Sein, get cakezoned.
The dance scene is nuts, madhouse hire professional dancer from a danceschool that the animat0r can watch and observe how they dance. Evan Call develope a own waltz btw beside the OST
