    This is the most well thought out and executed optic for scoped carbine/SPR gas guns period.
    Love mine on my 18” criterion.
    Every feature is purpose built for the shooter in the field.
    You won’t find any features on it that some designer/marketing dept thinks will sell better.

    I have one on an 18" build, it's my favorite scope of the ones I own. Also side note, Nightforce has awesome customer service. When I first got my 4-16 I broke it due to a user error and NF fixed it and had it back to me within two weeks, and I only paid for shipping there. They were easy to work with and very communicative. They also fixed my friend's 4-16 that had a messed up elevation turret at no cost to him, even though it had been damaged by the previous owner and my friend wasn't the original buyer.

      I just sent back a new 5-25. They turned it around in two weeks, but they told me their current turnaround time is 6 weeks. They expedited mine because it was a factory defect. I also have a 4-16 and nxs 2.5-10. The 4-16 is so nice. The parallax adjustment is just so easy to adjust focus and take the parallax out. Better than any scope I've used, and it is better than the 5-25 atacr which I can't explain.

    I use the same exact scope on an 18” rifle for the IWI gas gun comps and 2-gun comps. I think it is the near perfect scope for an AR.
    I tried the top mounted dot at my last 2-gun comp and it absolutely sucked. I use a 1.93” scope mount and an offset that is also 1.93” in height so when I rotate to the offset, they are the same height.
    I might eventually get a 14.5” barrel, but I’ll still keep the same optics because this setup is nearly perfect. The price is a con, but I don’t mind the weight because I use the Criterion Core Barrel.

      The first time was my fault, removed the four small set screws below the elevation cap. My fault. Elevation turret froze in place.
      The second time I moved the optic to a different rifle needing a different 0 and followed the instructions to the letter. Elevation turret froze in place.
      Third time I put the optic back on the original rifle with a new barrel.. and ran into the same issue..
      I will say to NFs credit, they got right on the issues and had an RMA labels in my inbox while I was on the phone. Turn around on the RMA process was about a month and change. At no cost to me.
      I’ve run a handful of their ATACR line up.. the 4-16 was problem child.. purely for that issue alone. Fantastic optic otherwise.
      Conversely on Leupold’s MK5 series the zero-stop is easy to reset and is a smidge lower in glass quality at almost 1000 less.

    IT SHOCKS ME that the Razor LHT 4.5-22 (weighing only 21oz) isn't WILDLY popular in the SPR/Scoped Carbine world.
    1. Full warranty. When you rifle does the inevitable cartwheel off the bag, which happens with most top heavy rifles, no problem....completely covered. That said, NF builds tanks, so who knows maybe it won't break, but peace of mind is a beautiful thing.
    2. Did I mention it is only 21oz? 1/3 less weight than the NF
    3. NF probably has better glass (not compared to the Gen 3 Razor, but probably the LHT) but not by much
    In fairness, the NF is a better scope in terms of turrets, build, fit n finish, etc. But the mere WEIGHT savings with the LHT should skyrocket its popularity!!
    You also pay nearly 2x as much for the NF

      It tunnels at low power, so calling it a 5x erector is a bit of a stretch. It's basically a 5-20. Same thing happens on all the other high power atacrs. The 5-25 is actually a 6.5-25. So just decide I you're OK without 4x on the low end, the size, and no locking turret. I think the 4-16 is the best of the bunch.

    Still find it super weird how you said you loved the vortex Gen 3 1-10 equally to your ATACR 1-8 and then it was never seen again. Really odd, that. I guess your word as a man does have a price. Didn’t want to lose access to free vortex products. I’m honestly getting to the point that I’m going to make reviews because I don’t want free shit, I am gainfully employed and make 135k a year. Not rich, but I can afford what I want to buy. I feel like none of you self-interested “please sponsor me” guys have integrity meaning anything.

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  2 місяці тому +1

      In the comparison video I did of the two there is whole section on the two things that I didn’t like about the razor. One of those is solely personal preference. As I focused more on shooting and getting better as a shooter, I like shooting the same thing over and over, so even though both are good optics I picked one and I picked the one that suited my preference. I don’t need 3 lpvos that all do the same thing so I got rid of my 1-10 and I also got rid of my black atacr 1-8.
      Additionally, you should definitely do reviews, the larger the dataset consumers have the better educated decisions they can make.

    Do you have an aversion to reviewing entry or mid level products? Most items we see here (NF, RRS, Staccato, MDT, Leupold, Wilcox, etc) are completely beyond most folks budget. It’s cool to see “influencers” jumping into training oriented videos more, but it’s funny when someone like Lucas Botkin encourages people to get into precision shooting… and then uses a $5K Remington rifle where only 3 exist. Just food for thought.

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  2 місяці тому +12

      No aversion to reviewing entry or mid level, but it presents 2 problems: 1. The review would be filled with all the ways it falls short, 2. I don't feel it's worth recommending something that i feel will end up costing you more in the long run. I've wanted this optic for almost 2 years and am just now reviewing it. Additionally, I spend more on ammo than I do on gear, everyone's budget is relative, which is why I try to educate during the reviews so that you can apply the information as needed to your own purchases.
      Cost of entry is one the reasons I don't recommend bolt gun and haven't done a lot of content on it. I think that for those that want to learn the skill, scoped carbine is a much better route and more cost effective. So I do take into account other people's budget but again budget is relative.

    • @Merk21
      @Merk21 2 місяці тому +3

      They get most of this stuff at significant discount/free. There's no reason you can't get into long range on a budget - just don't get your gear advice from "influencers". Sure, the cheaper stuff isn't going to be "just as good" like everyone says, but there's absolutely no reason you need to drop a ton of money to start. Use guy's like Jimmy's videos on training tips to help your training and get an understanding of the process, but would take gear recommendations with a grain of salt. Check out Warrior Poet Society's collab with Ryan Cleckner for beginner long range stuff. Ryan is super down to earth and knowledgeable. I love his stuff.

    • @jimmybrodriguez
      @jimmybrodriguez  2 місяці тому +1

      @Merk21 yes, you can 100% learn the skill with cheaper stuff, but it will cost you in the long run which is a choice everyone has to make for themselves. I don't recommend gear that i haven't spent money my self or wouldn't spend money on. That is one of the reasons I don't do a ton of reviews and tend to shoot the same stuff for a while.
