I always worry about parking near or under trees when it's bad wind and definitely wouldn't park near a cliff edge.

One of the reasons we went down the van conversion route, rather than coach built was the integrity of the structure in a collision, and leak prevention. There is little strength in a coach built (its basically a caravan body), the cab area is fine, but I wouldn't want to sit in the back of a coach built involved in an accident.

Howdo Guys! New follower here, loving the content, far more entertaining than some of the dry camping videos out there! As a prospective motorhome owner I do have a little rant to get off my chest. Why oh why oh why oh why, do all new motorhomes look like my Nan designed the interior finishes?? Talk about pale and stale! Proper grinds my gears!

Motorhome construction - if you think about it you chop half the van cab away and the habitation is a foam core skin with some chipboard and it’s on a ladder chassis - monocoque it’s not - one of the reasons we went with a airstream caravan (aside from the aerodynamics, the cool factor? The torsion bar suspension - get a flat and you can still run on 3 wheels……) was the construction - we had a tree bough drop on it 2 years back - 3 panels replaced and good to go if we’d gone the white box route it’s a write off. So drive safe and don’t think about what would happen in a shunt.

Our best wind experience was staying overnight at Hollyhead Marine drive, it's a sea front roadside park up and I can honestly say the motorhome was shaking around like omg however, we were so cozy with the blown air heating and warm quilts that we found the whole experience brilliant! 🌬

We had two nights at Yellowcraig campsite two years ago. It was a bit blowy but thankfully it took bad & whilst it was chilly at times it didn't rain. Tim, Jane & Archie.

One night in Arisaig i thought we were going to wake up floating in the sea very windy and the van moved every time my mum kept rolling about as she couldn't get comfy it was terrifying really i defo thought we were gony tip over

How’s things?
We were on the Outer Hebrides a couple of years ago and had 80 - 90 mph winds. I was having a few twitchy bum moments when driving and camping but luckily we had no issues. The closest I came to disaster was opening the driver’s door and the wind pulling me out of the Motorhome 😂

Morning frozen couple with wind problems. Great van talk this week and I’ll have two of whatever the roving reporters where drinking 😂. Yeah grass cutting can be a problem, trouble is it won’t stop growing but we try and do it when no one is on site, never gonna happen 😂😂 safe travels guys x

We up there just before you, found Skye was horrendous wind, we had to move twice as no shelter round there 💨 also as you say the rear bedroom rooflight was flapping think you're going to lose it. If you look our's only had a seal on the front one, so when I got back I ordered a seal off Ebay £16 and fitted it. No more rattling in the night, easy fix stops wind getting underneath panel ! After speaking to dealer's was told seal not fitted on most van's due to ventilation for carbon monoxide from cooker, but I said we have a monitor/alarm for that, so was up to me if I wanted to fit it myself, so I did just that.
9mm x 6mm the 9mm faces down else won't seal when closed, few spot's of super glue will hold in place, also a lot easier to pop the panel out, which is easy from inside van, I stood on bed and managed to fit through hole 👌 Just pick a nice day as it started raining after I'd removed it 🙈

Wind is an issue…….or so the wife tells me. We have tried several types of nav systems and ended up with a Avtex tourer. Even this bespoke satnav has some strange moments. What Nav system do you use, what’s the cost and how reliable has it been for your adventures. BTW, keep up the effort st chris, it’s great watching to see where you’ve been and encountered.

Lovely van talk with the usual dollop of comedy 😅.
That did look lovely on the beach but 🥶.
With our caravan, we have had some dodgy moments with some 💩 coming out 😢, wind not a friend of the caravanner.
Roof vents do rattle a bit due to natural ventilation.
Think that the weight saving in vans contributes to what can be classed as flimsy builds, just our thoughts.

Always said they were useless , just a caravan with a steering wheel. Feel much safer in a proper van. Channel's growing nicely tho as i said it would .Always looking out for you from fellow steel city dwellers. You always seem to be a week or two behind , just done the west coast and sky again.
