    I think it might be a good idea to start calling out the color space on laptop displays in addition to color accuracy. I looked at a ton of gaming laptops recently and **sooo** many of them are equipped with a "45% NTSC" display, which ...is insane to me (that's ~62% sRGB). Gradients must have all sorts of banding on those displays and I imagine all sorts of other weird color issues. I was shocked when I saw how many manufacturers are using these displays....

  • @Qimchiy
    @Qimchiy Рік тому +81

    Easily the Legion, the software is great too. The Razer's design of exhausting air to the display hinge might be a problem unless they learnt from old Apple on how not to design hinges and it's usually more expensive than the Legion when you match the specs.

    • @keerthan7558
      @keerthan7558 Рік тому +5

      Actually it isn't , it has better thermals (10-15 °C cooler) than the Alienware laptops in most cases and that thing has 4 fans and full damn extension at back for cooling. It's on par with legion and other thicker laptops. Idk how they doing this but it should have been done in their 2021 onward models itself.

      @@keerthan7558 cooling isn't what I'm worried about. It's longevity. Usually air gets exhausted out the side or behind the hinge. The Razer Blade exhausts air into the hinge.

    You are confused with Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 and Predator Helios 16. They are 2 different ones. Neo16 is an all plastic build with lesser specs (eventhough the hardware specs are the same as Helios 16). Where as Helios 16 is an all aluminium build with 240Hz panel, per key LED and is a flagship model from Acer. So at the beginning you listed out that it was Neo 16 used for this test. But at the end while giving those tier ranks you mention it as Helios 16. could you clarify which one is exactly used here?

      According to Notebookcheck it has the longest web browsing & video playback (or similar light non-GPU heavy workload) battery life out of all dedicated graphics laptops this year at *12 HOURS!*
      Though I bet it's more like 8 hours on the "balanced" performance profile at 100% brightness but that's still awesome for a large gaming laptop.

    Got my slim 7 few days back with amd+4060+3.2k screen+32gb+1tb & tested battery life & got 10.5hrs. The screen has some minor backlight bleed from all 4 corners compared to my previous macbook pro 13 screen but still great upgrade. Wish it had advanced Optimus like 7i but i will take 10+hrs battery life over Intel crap any day of the week especially in laptops.
    But omen 16 transcend is a better competitor to slim 7 & in general i guess. Especially with the miniled screen option. The only gripe is performance is not that great as thermal limited & bad keyboard, no 2nd m.2, expensive upgrade options compared to Lenovo. But for 1.7-1.8k that was way better in many aspects compared to most laptops here.
    How was your experience with backlight bleed on slim 7i? This was 1600p screen so not apples to apples comparison but still. Especially in almost dark room. Ofc in any sort of light it cannot be noticed.

      You got that on a bananas sale, I looked at that same Omen recently and HP had it for "sale" for $1570, although your config w/ 240Hz display and 1TB SSD is currently $1700, and I don't see it cheaper at another retailer, so you shouldn't be using $850 as the comparison price when it's currently being sold for twice that amount.
      The Omen 17" Intel 13700HX + RTX 4060 is currently on sale for just under $1200, which isn't bad, but worse display and smaller SSD. There is a Omen 16 Ryzen 7840 + 4060 16GB RAM 1TB on sale for $1100, but it can't be customized and only has the 1080p / 165Hz display, not remotely comparable.
      If you can currently get your hands on a brand new Omen 16 7840HS + RTX 4060 - 16GB RAM/1TB SSD 240Hz 1440p for $849, I'd recommend you buy it, immediately. Shit, buy as many as you can and then turn around and sell them each for $400 profit while still undercutting HP sale prices.

    Alright, I ususally never comment on videos, but I just wanted to put this out there about the Predator Helios Neo16, I do agree that the keys and typing might be slightly inferior to its competitors in the video, however, you forget to mention the termals on these machines and I will say for the Predator, I tested it with a consistent 86deg celcius average when gaming on a warmer room (without turbo) and low 80 high 70s average in a cooler room / environemnt and let's not forget the 3ms 165hz monitor with the Nvidia G-sync as well, it makes gaming so seamless with no screen tearing at all which you do touch on. The power supply is definitely a big big, which is another con, but another pro for this machine is that the placement for the trackpad placement id argue to be very well place IF you are right handed as when you type on the keyboard you would notice that the tumb can easily move the cursor around to click on things without needing to move you hand too much. Then again these are just small details that might be subjective to toher people. I used to on an MSI 72Leopard Pro and that laptop had one of the best keyboards i've ever used on laptops, it was developed by steelseries, and it is phenomenal. Later market laptops outside of MSI seem to lack that kind of quality however so this is indeed another con for the helio 16. But all in all I just wanted to point out for the price of the machine giving you an RTX4060 with a 165hz monitor 3ms response time, this is a really decent machine built for gaming as well if it comes to budget machines with power. Many modern gaming laptops unfortunately still feature 120hz or 144hz but acer was able to take this one step further and on top of that the termals are fanatstic on this machine as well which you do mention.
    Thanks for reading this comment if you did, I love what you do, I will subscribe right now ♥

    Terrible comparison. Most of these are not direct competitors. Completely different price tiers. Comparing charging bricks is stupid as hell without comparing actual wattage. Thickness, size, and weight are all governed by the cooling system. Some of these can cool an rtx 4080 while others cannot and don't even have the option. You might as well throw a Chromebook in the mix since it's just all random assortment anyway.

    I genuinely feel like this video misses a very important contender, the normal Acer Predator Helios 16 (not Neo).
    The Helios 16 this year is a very strong contender in my opinion and should have been listed here as well, since both the Acer Nitro and Helios Neo 16 are its budget younger siblings.
    In terms of build quality, keyboard & trackpad and display it performs better than both other models (even without its Mini-LED screen), so it is a shame that this video misses it.

But than again for just 50 $ dollar more we get better screen for example, but this companies know how to play the marketing game perfectly, and downgrade other part and that how they lore you to waste much more than you intend to.. just stick to a budget and decisions will be easier. The thermals are what you would expect for the most part, with the GPU staying nice and cool and the CPU going nuts.
      During gaming, it's common to see the CPU at it's thermal throttle limit of 92°C or even 100, but with sufficient cooling and liquid metal repaste it should run cooler.
      Fan noise is within the acceptable range but pretty loud on max, lower settings are available tho.
