The New Bremen Town Musicians: "How Great Thou Art"

- This is a companion video that closes a blog essay I wrote about my 6th-grade teacher in 1962-63, Eleanor Lindner. I wanted to share what I knew about this remarkable woman, and I ended up getting invaluable help from her children Marged, Dan, and Rick, all now in their late 70s and early 80s. (Eleanor passed away in 1996.)
I had learned that Eleanor would play and sing hymns on the family piano back in the '50s, and one of her favorites was "How Great Thou Art." I had further learned that Dan and Rick -- Vermont's preeminent bluegrass performers and recording artists -- and their families had performed it live in the 1990s and early 2000s. How fitting, then, that their rendition is presented here, with Dan's permission, to honor their mom in the most meaningful way possible.
The New Bremen Town Musicians:
Dan Lindner: banjo, vocals
Jaye Lindner (Dan's wife): lead vocals
Deanna Booth (Jaye's daughter): vocals
Rick (Will) Lindner: guitar, vocals
Nancy Mosher (Rick's wife): vocals
Matt McGibney: bass, vocals
This track comes from their 2-CD set of live performances entitled "When Time Was Young," and, if anyone's interested, it can be purchases here: www.banjodan.com/

omg, this is hysterical, Don Giller! Thank you so much for providing me with so many laughs!
This performance is funny how?
just giving you a bit of your own medicine. if you are going to troll other peoples posts and comments, expect yours to be trolled as well! It's a jungle out here! @@dongiller
Wow, Don, Matt's bass vocal is the equivalent of a baritone sax in their vocal blend. He could have sung with The Statler Brothers.
I’m told the bass vocal part was sung by Rick “Will” Lindner.
I should have been clearer - Matt played the stand-up bass, but I don’t think it’s actually present on this recording.
@@dongiller Thanks for the reply. My wife and I were 6th graders in 1962-63 as well.
Great song. Don are you connected to this piece of music?
Unrelated to this video but if you see this comment, I was wondering about Dave's first show post 9/11. It used to be on youtube but I can't find it anymore. Did you ever upload that episode or plan to?
Please read the description.
I uploaded the post-9/11 show some years ago, but CBS had YT remove it. A friend likewise uploaded it and CBS struck his down as well. Even though it was no longer CBS’s content.
That’s all I can share.
