They trashed the front geometry with those wide tires. All the mods puts them in a prototype class if they want points. Also, it's an automatic, so it will never be allowed on a real track for a competition. This is pretty bad for what they spent.

These cars have so much potential and they immediately ruined it. I own a 92 RS which has "tasteful" mods. C5 braks, 5-speed conversion, rear inner fender mods for an 11" wheel and 315 tires, some suspension stuff, stock 305 with 217k on the ticker.

Im not saying you can’t autocross with an auto & carb, if that’s what your car already has and your just working with what you got then more power to you, I’m saying why would you choose to go automatic and use a carburetor on a car your actually building from scratch?
@@nono-fn3zc They are using polyurethane bushings. The metal sleeve rotates inside of the bushing, unlike stock bushings where the inner sleeve is molded to the rubber. So no need to tighten them with the car on the ground.

You can't center the axle if you lower and raise it, & I thought the point of Fender Flares on a slalom car, was to keep the maximum amount of Tire under the car but just cover the excess with the flares. Not just push out the tire as far as you can...
I like the fact that you are showing a thirdgen some "love" but there are mistakes made. Those wheels and tires arent going to make a good setup for autocross. Also the cage crossbar is to low. Not to mention that poor car looks like trash with those flares on it. You can fit plenty of tire under those cars without hacking it up.
I'm still a little disappointed you didn't F.I. it. So easy to do and a better upgrade for turning and driveability. Still digging the build, I love 3rd Gens!
Yep, and since they added all that offset and are using stock replacement rotors, that smaller outer wheel bearing is gonna get fried. I mean, I fit 325s on the rear and 285s on the front of my 85 without cutting anything on the front and minor trimming on the back.

I wouldn’t trust mounting coil overs to the shock towers. They weren’t designed to take all the spring input forces, just the shocks. I’d be keeping an eye out for cracks.
They destroyed this car. The strut towers were not ever designed for front coilovers. The k-member was designed to support the car with the springs, the strut towers are just one layer of sheet metal. Strong enough for the strut to do it's thing, but I sure wouldn't want to pound that area with a coil over set up. No tuning done on this. No mention of improved angles, just bolt on, advertise and run it. You don't need to spend that kind of money to make one of these handle. That wheel and tire set up is doing them no benefits, you can still shove big tires under these cars without hacking it up.
Stiffing adjustment on the rear shock absorber is nice but the mounting point is held by a nut and a washer. Stiffening the shock will cause stress cracks pretty soon.

You can fit a 10.5 inch wheel under a third gen without flares. These cars are wide as is (owner of one here). This widebody looks like some kid went to home depot and got some plastic garden trim and riveted it to the body. Such a waste of clean third gen.
Just echoing what everyone else is saying. They have completely missed the boat on literally every aspect of this build. Seriously, every part has left me scratching my head, from the carburetor, the auto trans, coilovers (the cars weight was never designed to be supported from those points), the non adjustable phb, no drop bracket, no lca relocation brackets, no subframe connectors, the 'upgraded' brakes.... And then...there's the wheel and tire selection... Why? sponsorship dollars? Could have actually built and showcased a fairly competitive car that would have been relatively easy for the viewers to replicate, instead we wind up with a 'what not to do' episode.
An anniversary edition will be a collector car in the future but not this one. Should have done this to a regular RS.

Not a torque wrench to be found. Just over tighten basically everything.
Over tightened and most of those bushings are f’d because they tightened in the air with no weight on the car.

The plus to the flares not being cut into the bodywork and smoothed is they're easier to replace and it weighs less than the extra bodywork.

Too much offset on the wheels. Plenty of room inside the fenders for 2in less offset. The scrub radius on the front is insane!
