I own a older 750 JD with a front snowblower. Mine was built in the 80s. It had a bad habit of shearing the bolt on the blower shaft. Because that shaft was keyed, it would then break the yoke at the key way. Bad design, $200 to replace the yoke. After the second break/failure, my son suggested we remove the key and allow the shaft to spin when the bolt shears off. That fixed my problem. But, I looked at them recently. JD is still building them exactly the same. My advice, JD snow blowers for their compact tractors, are not designed/built to anywhere near the the level of say a Kubota. If you need a front blower, go elsewhere or go third party.
You left one major factor out, the diesel will burn less fuel than the gas. Our X585 LOVES the gas when its doing deep snow! But its an unstoppable machine.
Thank you! If you decide to get the snowblower I suggest you get a lift kit which makes it easier to raise and lower the snowblower. Here is a link to it: www.greenpartstore.com/John-Deere-Electric-Lift-Kit-700AM-Snow-Blower-LP68150.html
You'll break your back trying to pick up the SINGLE-STAGE snow thrower. The S-240 needs the electric lift kit. The single stage is ok for light, fluffy, snow. Not a good choice for heavy, drifted, snow. The S-240 isn't compatible with a two-stage blower.Diff lock is also a requirement blowing snow too.As long as the snow is on the light side, you should be good.
there are 3 sheer bolts on all the blowers you showed left and right auger and one on the impeller ...plus the plastic impeller spin and strip out i have changed meany of them if you have to change them put the steel one in and the tire you called bar i think are r4`s bar has a much deeper lug
FYI the knifes on the sides of the blower are not for sight when in high snow but rather for slicing the snow drifts down. Video of said process/example: ua-cam.com/video/xvnV9Jcigfo/v-deo.html
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. In regards to your question, the X595 is my grandfather's and the others are used to maintain a couple large properties.
Don't attempt to put a snowblower on any tractor without locking differential. I wasted $1600 on one for my X350. The tractor wheel just spun, chain tearing up my driveway. Then the belt slipped off. Completely useless.
We purchased a very nice used x350 with snow blower attachment. Very disappointed. Can't get decent traction even with chains and weights. Much better performance from my 26 year old MTD walk behind. 😔

That is a great point and I've certainly noticed it. Thanks for adding it!

Yes, you’re right, my mistake. Thanks for pointing it out!
Enjoyed the video. I'm interested in knowing what it is you do with all these tractors.

The X700s are great with a snowblower, anything smaller is getting questionable, as your experience showed. Sorry that happened.

FIRST !
Appreciate the info!
