I installed one of these on a 2005 L120 with the electric PTO. It's now a dedicated snow blower and will never go back to a mower. I fabricated an extra support bracket to the chute control, the one bolt hold down was too flimsy. I put chains and rear weights on it as well. One complaint is the raise and lower arm. When snow builds up on the blower housing, it requires 2 hands to raise and lower the blower, stronger lift springs might be needed. I'll be installing a 4 inch electric actuator to solve this problem. The instructions were a bit vague but I took my time and put it together over the summer. So far I broke 2 shear bolts this year when I hit some icy snow and no other problems. It works for me!

Was it hard to fit to L120? I have a LA175 but JD says this mount is for 2014 or newer. I'd consider changing to this mount, can you leave the front part on and still fit the mower deck on? I know I'd still have to remove the drive belt module...

And watch out for a twist in the belt. It won't seat correctly into the pulley at the pulley module. It's hard to spot if you're not experienced with the problem. I had to have a JD mechanic come out....this was after I pulled the module and took it to the dealer who sold me the blower. Even they missed it since it was not installed. They also found the wrong return spring on the module. I have my concerns with quality control at John Deere.

@@kokokyoushi - Removing or installing the mower deck takes all of 5 minutes. I'm not sure what all the fuss and whining is about, but it is obviously coming from people that don't have one. This snow blower really is a breeze to install and I can do mine in about 30 minutes or so. Uncrating it and assembly when you first get it will add some time to that, but once that's done, you're good to go. This is a reasonably priced unit ($1,400) for what it's capable of. Someone mentioned engineering a drive hook-up. As someone that already owns a Kubota (with the optional mid PTO), I can tell you that that is an EXPENSIVE ad on, not to mention the 6k cost for the snow blower, which also must have a sub-frame installed every year just as this was.

@@JohnDeere Yes, that was exactly what I was referring to from my physical manual book, but the wording with little to no figure it was not as easy as the video (not that the illustrations in the manual book help, I think they are poorly drawn). It is also the you-know-it-or-you-don't kind of thing, so it is easy now. I am also having issues with really hard if not impossible to squeeze the lift handle to raise/ drop the snowblower (small Asian woman with smaller hand) so I had to operate it with the snowblower on the ground 100% of the time, which was super inefficient, and I would love to see more explanation on the tension of that part. I also found from UA-cam that some people install electric winch for about $150 diy so I think that would be a good solution for me compared to doing it manually.

Will this fit a John Deere S220?

    • @JohnDeere
      @JohnDeere  11 місяців тому

Thanks for the question, Amory. Yes, the 44-inch Snow Blower will fit a S220 Lawn Tractor. You can find parts and attachments for your unit here: spr.ly/6053PpZsZ. Your local dealer is a great resource to confirm part numbers and help order. If needed, you can find contact information for your nearest dealer here: spr.ly/6054PpZsw.

Was wondering if you bought this 44 inch snow blower? Did it come with all the parts shown in the JD video? Mine is missing the belt drive module and you can;t just get that part, but have to buy all the individual pieces that make up this module and assemble them. Cost is $1700 Canadian to buy all the parts. Wondering if you got the belt drive module as shown in video. Bill

so after we bought the snow blower from home depot, not only was it missing a couple of bolts the handle was broken during shipping and home depot and local dealer is blaming each other.
got to the drive belt module install and my unit does not have the holes for the the unit to bolt into , Nice.....as I am reading the instructions in fine print it says if your frame doesn't have the holes you will need a left and right bracket which are sold individually , $140 cad each plus taxes.
I have a D140 and the description is for ALL 100 models, that is incorrect.
    buyer beware.
tractor purchased in 2017 and now I have to decide do I drill the holes or send unit back.
don't buy anything for your john deere unless you 100% it will fit.

hello Tazzman. Did you solve this dilemma with your snow blower. My son bought an E170 4 years ago and never used the snow blower attachment. I wanted to use it this winter, but he never received the belt drive module in his package, so JD tells me now that they don't make that part, you have to buy every individual piece and assemble your own belt drive module. I am desparately searching for a belt drive module, if you have any ideas on where I might find one. Thanks for your time.@@JohnDeere

The belt module is the metal frame that hangs under the tractor and has 2 pulleys that get your power from the tractor to the snow blower. We never got it when we bought the tractor several years ago and have never tried to blow snow until this winter and no belt drive, so no go. Where are you located? I have a 2015 JD X324 all wheel steer. The people at JD that designed the deck with J-Bolts have NEVER tried to put a deck on or take it off. They should have been working in a candy store. Stupid people. The same with the bagger. My last JD. I'll find a K-Mart store and get a better product.

This is my first riding mower so no experience with any mowers or snowblowers ever and I installed mine by myself in less than 30 minutes in a very dimly lit garage with main source of light being a flashlight. Just saying, it may not be the product if it took you and another person several hours to put like 6 bolts in….
As far as quality I can’t speak on yet. But installation was crazy easy.

Was wondering if you ever got that snow blower working? I can't finish mine because there was no belt drive module in the package my son got. Trying to locate one of those and that is another crazy world trying to deal with John Deere. My son bought this unit from Lowes and never needed the snow blower, so we didn't discover the missing part until 4 years later, and of course no one has it now.
