- Unfortunately, John Deere doesn't make a Power Flow for the 2038R, so something else is needed. This video showcases an excellent alternative, the TKV 20 material collection system.
Very informative, thank you for sharing, you have talent in explaining the function and capabilities of the tractor/implements; I've found your video very helpful.
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful.
I have a 2038R with a 72D MMM and I am really impressed with the TerraKing TKV 20.
It is definitely a good piece of equipment when used on the 2038R.
Nice
I have one on.my Kioti CS 2510 and it works great!
I'm glad it works well for you!
In britain and ireland you can get a john deere 1500 litr collector for this tractor
Does the tractor need to be balanced with the loader and our weights in the front?
The front end loader is not needed for balance, I just left it on. In terms of weights on the front, the 2038R doesn't need them with the TKV.
However, if you're using the TKV with anything smaller than a 2038R, such as a 1025R, you need weights on the front.
Is there enough power for the TKV20 on 2032R tractor? How many PTO horsepower are required for the Material Collection System (MCS) and how many for the mid-mount mower (MMM)? I am considering buying a compact tractor for this purpose.
The TKV 20 works perfectly fine with the BX2380 which is 23 HP and the 1025R which is 25 HP. Running in on a 2032R is no problem.
I have loblolly pine trees that drop long needles on grass. I’m planning to purchase a John Deere 2038R .Does this collection system along with the 2038R with a 72 inch deck do a good job picking up long pine needles while cutting grass?
It really depends on how low you’re mowing. If you mow too high, then I don’t think you’ll get too many picked up. I can’t say for certain though, I’ve never picked up pine needles with the TKV.
I have a Scag turf tiger II with the Scag collection system it works very well picking up the Pineneedles. The mower is 37 hp and I think runs around 3800 RPMs. It has a 60 inch deck and that’s as big as it can go with the collection system.
I like the added capacity of the TKV and the versatility of the tractor. The John Deere 2038R only has one less horsepower than my Scag but I wonder if it’s rpm will be enough to collect as well as the Scag. I usually cut at 3 3/4 “ . Lower lower than 3 1/2” and never higher than 4 inches.
The turbo diesel on the 2038R will give you no suction issues with the TKV. The TKV also has a drive system to increase its RPMs.
How much does the TKV 20 hold for max capacity? In terms or volume. I have a large lawn like the one in the video and it would annoying to constantly empty it out while mowing.
It can hold 20 bushels (a little more if you stuff it full). In my experience, it has plenty of space for large yards.
Thanks, 20 bushels is definitely ideal for what I am doing. Although I am a little skeptic about the functionality of the long hose with a 72” deck. Does it work well with wet grass? My local John Deere dealer isn’t too sure with the TKV, because they’re not familiar with this unit. I am in the Vancouver area in B.C. so we get pretty wet grass during spring and summer.
The TKV will work fine with wet grass. Just keep in mind you won’t be able to cut 72 inches at a time. You’ll have to cut smaller strips since it’s wet. And although you may have to go pretty slow at times, the TKV is better than any other option.
What is the price, I have the JD 2032r, same as the 2038r
I don't want to misquote anything, so I'd suggesting checking with them. You can get a quote at www.terraking.com
Do you have one to fit a Massey Ferguson same size?
I'm not sure, you can ask them through www.terrking.com. It is a standard 3 pt. attachment and it needs 12 volts for the actuator. The challenge is getting the hose connected to the mower deck in your situation.
How do you keep the pto shaft parallel when the 3 point and mower deck raise and lower simultaneously?
The operator lowers the rear lift until the mower hits the depth control stop, at which the mower doesn't go any lower even if you move the 3pt arms down. Once the deck stops going down, continue to lower the 3pt arms until the TKV PTO shaft is level within about 3". Set the stop on the lift control to this position. When you raise the lift, both the mower and TKV will raise up, this is fine for transport, just don't run the PTO.
