  • In 1938, Rudy Ruana began making knives in a small Montana shop. His family members are still hand-crafting Ruana Knives in the same shop today.
In an era of outsourcing and diminishing Made in America products, Ruana Knives are still handcrafted a stones throw from the banks of the Blackfoot River with an emphasis on quality over quantity. Still using the same methods and much of the same equipment Rudy began using nearly 90 years ago. Mark and Mike Hangas continue to abide by Rudy Ruana’s work ethic creating knives that are usable, durable, and collectible.

I treasure my visit to the shop and I treasure my Ruana knives beyond anything else that I own. My unreserved thanks and blessings to Rudy, Vic, Mike and Mark. Peace and love to you.

My dad bought me a knife in Jackson Hole, Wyoming back in 1977; during our road trip out west along with my mom and sister. It's a Ruana knife that I've kept in pristine condition, along with a full coverage sheath (displayed separately from the knife), ever since. From what I can tell, it seems to look mostly like a Custom Finn (Model 27AC-6). I will never part with this knife...my dad passed away on Sept 26th, 2022...and this is one of many precious memories he gave me.
