  • Chelsia and Charlie never thought they would own a bookstore but the universe had other plans.
Montana Book Company is an independent, LGBTQ+, locally-owned, bookstore located on historic in Helena, Montana. The store has been serving the Helena community since 1978. In 2018, Chelsia Rice and Charlie Crawford bought the bookstore and began to change the focus beyond their shelves outward toward the community.
Through the community and their customers they support local and national nonprofits which represent and advocate for marginalized communities. Their giving includes local education foundations, educators and librarians, youth and youth activities, BIPOC folk, the LGBTQ+ community, human rights organizations and more. They also advocate and organize around issues at all levels of government.

I had the honor of growing up with one of these ladies and you'll be hard pressed to find more open, honest, and caring people.

Thank you for your corner of reality and sanity... I am house bound and read about a world gone mad; however, I enjoyed watching about the Montana book Company; so, there is one spot on this planet that gives me hope.

I’ve heard Greg at “Supposedly Fun” speak of you many times. I can see why Greg and Joel enjoy visiting your book shop. If I’m ever in Helena, I’m dropping in.

Greg Beard suggested this video, and I am so glad I watched it. Your life stories, ideas and worldview are fascinating, and if I ever come to Montana, I will visit for sure! Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦

I live in Northern Colorado and love books, but don't buy a lot of them. I learned about Montana Book Co from another youtube channel and knew i had to take a special trip to Helena, Montana just to come to this very special bookstore and buy some books to support them. I visited last October and it was a wonderful trip and I loved my experience at the bookstore and visiting Helena!

I've been wanting to visit Montana for awhile. I will be taking a train trip from Chicago, where I live, to Portland, Oregon in May. I'll be in Montana for about 12 hours!

I heard about this store all the time through the videos from Greg at SupposedlyFun. It’s great to have faces to the names.
