Recommendations: Instead of buying a whole stack of different sized dumbbells for you to work with, you should buy an all in one dumbbell (the one that has multiple plates that you can easily switch through) to save space. Instead of buying a normal adjustable bench, buy a a bench that is suitable for bench pressing (extra wide back rest) which can be moved around according to what exercise you do. You should definitely invest in a power rack that can be used when seated and standing ( since the ceiling is to low for overhead press, you can move the bench inside the cage and do them seated but having the half cage links on the side which would provide extra safety for you). Definitely invest in a good all in one adjustable cable machine which has a lot of attachments so you are basically covered with extensions in all body parts (rope, d-handles, small bar, ez bar, pull up bar etc.) (Alternatively there are an all-in-one power rack options but from what I've seen its easier to have two separate machines instead of an all in one) I mainly focus on the big three exercises (squat, bench, deadlift) so it would be nice to have a deadlift platform where you can deadlift without worrying about the floor or noise or slipping. I have no idea how much space you have so that is an extra addition. But for the other two it would be really good for you to buy a deadlift bar and a squat bar. Good luck on the rest of the build and I'm excited to see them GAINZZZ!
just for future reference never put flooring down first the flooring should be installed last to prevent scratches dents and other damages that could be caused and also it would be a faster process when painting
Also saves time, because then you don't need to put down protection to paint because if you're going to cover it up anyway you wouldnt care if it gets a few spots of paint on the concrete.
Also as you built a new suspended floor, you should insulated it as well. You would have saved 30% extra warmth that’s generated through the air conditioning unit. Otherwise I love it! Good job. 👍
So nice to see how much thought Kon puts into all his renovations and designs and not just thinking of something and winging it throughout. Just goes to show as long as your plan has solid foundations in place, nothing can stop you achieving your goals 💯
That's a really nice set up you got yourself. I always wonder with these types of builds though if there is enough ceiling height to be able to comfortably lift a barbell over your head without damaging the ceiling and also if the floor is strong enough to survive that barbell if dropped from that height repeatedly.
Yeah unfortunately the building was quite low already and the costs of rain the roof height was just mad and not worth it. I have come to terms with that I’ll just have to sit down when I want to lift weights over my head aha or go outside if it’s a nice day 😊
Solid effort with the reno Kon, you well and truly have an awesome base set up for your home gym that can progress with your workouts and exercise routine. Train hard and enjoy the benefits of your healthy body and mind, get in and get amongst it Kon you've got this!
Machine wise - power rack and a bench and Olympic barbell and Olympic weights. Cable machine for all cable movements. Dumbbells and a dumbbell rack. Free standing boxing bag. That’s all your key muscles and exercises.
Hey Kon, I've always wanted to renovate buildings and houses. This video was really awesome and is a perfect little gym! It's a shame you didn't have a bigger area to work with, but overcome and adapt and you've got yourself a nice gym!
The room looks great! If the budget was an issue I personally would have not purchased the TV yet and get some weights/racks before so that I could workout while saving for the rest of the set up! But a really nice set-up, look forward to seeing the finished product!
Space looks insane! Highly recommend looking at getting a half rack (esp/blk box) with an adjustable bench over a power rack to maximise space, and ideally place central to a mirror so you aren't looking at a join in the mirror, a DAP from technogym/keiser pulley or Bulldog adjustable pulley, and a vertical DB stand to reduce the footprint (PENT also do some high end looking dumbbells). Also recommend getting the Technogym Ride and Concept 2 rower for the cardio kit. Rubrig do some very high quality rubber tiles which you would look good with a stainless steel threshold step up. N.B. If you look up Technogym Architects Area you can find 3D icons for all their equipment you can input into the 3D design to get a better idea of how you want it to look.
This is seriously inspiring Kon!! Keep up the good work. Also just my opinion but i think you have a better space for your gym than Vikk's gym. You could have proper high horse equipment and still have enough room to walk around/cool down etc
Great Video, might I suggest when buying weights and gym equipment, in particular machines, that you look for second hand ones. I brought a load of gym stuff froma spar that closed down and saved myself a bunch on well kept decent equipment.
Great video Kon. One suggestion: have the treadmill face into the room instead of towards a wall. Otherwise the treadmill user will just feel closed off from the rest of the gym.
THE DREAM GYM!! wahoo kickr bike over the peloton all day and a heads up from one big lad to another, make sure to get yourself some brooks runners for good support jogging or walking on the treadmill so you dont destroy your knees, cycling is less wear on the knees for bigger people too
I tell you what kon is one of my favourite UA-cam if not the best UA-camr Ive ever watched because not only does he target the younger generations but also the older generation because these types of videos inspire people to go out and do stuff like this on there own he's just incredible
Definitley get a cable machine and if it has grips at the top for pull ups even better. Also get a squat rack with the safety and adjustable hangers for the bar so you can switch between squats and bench pressing
Hey Kon, I doubt you’ll see this but you might want to look at “horse stall mats” as a flooring option, laminate tends to dent and crack when dropping dumbbells/barbells or doing deadlifts etc. 15-20mm thickness is perfect for a gym.
Power rack/squat rack for sure Cable machine for sure Dumbbell rack with weight up to I'd say from like the small 2kh to 30-40kg (honestly i live in Canada, better with lbs) You defo need to get some rubber flooring if you plan on doing anything remotely heavy inside the squat rack + deadlifting
Kon, look into a rep ares, or athena. Its a full rack and cable machine all in one. Theres also like a million channels on youtube that review home gym equipment, my favorite is garage gym reviews
Just a tip for the floor mate if you run it the length of the room it makes the room feel a lot bigger and it’s less cuts to do just for future mate but it still looks really good and sure you will when you get to work in the guy 😊😉
Video was sick. My only suggestion is that the best option was to install the machines first, then wrap the flooring around them, to avoid any damages. I know it's too late, but you never know if you'll get another house 😂
heat will be lost through the floor as it's just a cold concrete slab below the new chipboard - next time insulate between the batons which the chipboard sits on with some thermal pir insulation boards
Deff get a cable machine since u can work every muscle group with it. Also get a deadlift/squat rack with a barbell. It can be used for excercises such as barbell row, barbell shrugs, Military press and obviously deadlifts and squats
If you're building a home gym, I suggest that you invest on power racks or smith machines. That way, you can save a lot of space because most of the compound workouts that you can do can be down within those equipments.
PART 2 IS HERE! 👉 ua-cam.com/video/XVv3ASBxzSo/v-deo.html

Who’s dropping weights from overhead? You rack that shit afterwards.
