    Having bought the P125 for my grandkids back in 2019 and last year the DGX670 for myself, the DGX is well worth the extra $250. I bought mine for $800 USD, when DGX first came out. I feel sorry for those who bought the DGX660 as it is nowhere as good. They have since increased $50. One other thing. I would recommend a Z stand over an X as it doesn't block your legs, is more stable and just as portable.

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  2 роки тому +12

      That's good advice, Mike, thanks. I agree that DGX670 was a big jump up from DGX660, it feels much more 'premium' to me. Regarding the stands, I have found that the double-braced XX stands that we supply have not caused any issues with blocking leg access underneath. They have plenty of clearance underneath for your knees to go. I understand that there are some designs that are more restrictive though.

    I have the p125 and love it for it‘s simplicity. It’s really all I need. Sometimes less choice can be a blessing. The epiano sounds are really solid. I own for playing with my band ck61 (more sounds, direct control over effects and organ drawbars) but when playing solo, I find myself using only a few voices.

    DGX 670 needs to be studied thoroughly for anyone who has bought it. if you are just going to play piano and some other tones, one can very well buy p 125 and in need of some extra tones may use some plugins too. But DGX 670 is a producer's goldmine and someone who is making music needs to study it a to z to completely make use of it.

    • @xarv368

      The bad thing about the dgx670 is that it does not have a stereo output (L and R) for external speakers, only a mono output for headphones and even worse, its integrated speakers are mediocre. I'd better go with the Roland fp60X piano despite having fewer options.

      @@xarv368 I was looking at the Fp60x too..but I’m worried about the PHa4 keys.. there’s so many people complaining about clicking noise or noisy keys after some time. Some even get it immediately out of the box.. they say it’s the grease and just needs to be serviced but for $999 that should not happen atleast after 1-2 years. The DGX670 ($849) apparently can be used with a splitter to connect to external speakers..

    I'm the pianists for a 19 piece Jazz Ensemble. I have a P-125 which is great because I can literally carry it under one arm! I have a ton of keyboards, but this thing is by far the most convenient if you're primarily a pianist and don't want to lug a bunch of gear to gigs. I use an external QSC-K.12 speaker which is the heaviest piece of gear at about 30 pounds. Similar to another user, I bought the P-125 for my Grandson who got bored of piano, so I stole it back!!

    Absolutely great presentation, I am a singer/pianist and I've gotten tired of working with bands, so I'm going solo and I was a little concerned about the weight of the 670 versus the 125, but it appears that if I get adept and knowledgeable about the accompaniments, I could literally be a one-man band for a restaurant or bar situation playing an assortment of sung songs and instrumentals. Plus, the song writing and recording capabilities make the 670 the obvious choice for me. Being in Texas, USA, the only negative I take away is that we are separated by the Atlantic; otherwise, I would be in your store pestering you on a daily basis. Thanks for the great information and please keep it coming. Again, fantastic video. Thank you.

    …very good comparison and I appreciate the no-nonsense presentation. I have the P121 (73 key version of the P125) in one location with space limitations and used to have the DGX 660, the predecessor of the 670 in a second location with more room. I am a learner. I never used the vast array of features of the DGX. The key beds and therefore the touch are identical between the two. It’s not a P515 but it’s an authentic hammer action weighted keys feel. The price difference is rather insignificant. A few hours of professional lessons. To me it boils down to space and portability (DGX is too heavy to gig with, the P125 is still ok). If you don‘t gig and have the space, get the DGX even if you never use all the features. If you are an aspiring pianist after your time on P125/121…or DGX, get a P515. But I will never get to that level.

  • @stephenbeecher7545
    @stephenbeecher7545 2 роки тому +10

    It seems the major advantages of the P125 over the DGX 670 is that it is lightweight and portable for gigs. If your keyboard is primarily for home use or permanently in a studio, i would think the DGX 670 would provide the most bang for the buck. DGX 670 is pretty bulky and heavy in comparison to P 125.

    • @SevdalijaDamir
      @SevdalijaDamir 6 місяців тому

      Unless sound quality matters. Each uses a different piano sample. P125 has a better sample. Most piano players will hear the difference. However, there is no denying the element of fun that DGX brings to the table.

      I have completely different feeling. My parents bought me that piano 7 years ago, when I wasn't really into gigging. Outputs are terrible, all the button are useless, there aren't any knobs, most of sounds is also useless, FXs don't have any parameters. We bought P121 for our church youth room, and I musi say that it has better feeling for me. It has 24 sounds, but most of them are usable. It also has usb audio, so it's possible to really easy add sounds from VSTs. DGX650 usb midi has noticable lag, so it's not very fun to use it as midi controller.

      Thank you, David. P-125 is certainly great for simply playing piano. However, I've found that people are sometimes surprised by how much fun they'd get from a DGX-670. The amount of buttons/dials can be off putting initially, but the fundamental objective of the design is to enhance your playing experience and once people try it, they tend to be impressed!

We Connect external speakers & Subwoofer to the Headphone out. That is a necessity to hear what it is capable of. Some will benefit from fewer distractions like P-125 offers, some will thrive with the versitility of DGX670. In addition, be careful if choosing between p-125 and p-125a. if you want audio in over the USB cable. From what I've read, the p-125a removed the audio-in feature. Very useful feature for me as I could hear youtubes/lessons over the headset and not bother others in the house and/or use the speakers and adjust the volume of both the piano and the input with one knob.

    I owned a DGX-640 and loved it, but would only consider it "portable" in the sense that your refrigerator is portable because it's not bolted into the house. For any regular gigging, you would need a flight case, and the combined weight and size is at least a two-person job. Trying to shuffle it around without a case could lead to damage of very delicate circuitry, as happened to mine. It required a specialist shop capable of replacing tiny surface-mount chips to repair. Otherwise a very thorough and interesting comparison!

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  2 роки тому +3

      Nick makes a really important point here which I should have mentioned in the video. Here are the respective weights: P-125 is 11.8kg (26.01 lbs) and DGX-670 is 21.4 kg (47 lb, 3 oz). So, yes the DGX is quite a lot heavier! - Personally, I have taken a DGX out to gig with in my car and it's juuuuust about managable for one person to carry (without a solid case - no case at all, actually). Compared to a traditional piano, the DGX670 can be considered portable, of course, but P-125 is certainly the winner for real-life portability between them.

    Fantastic, you covered so many aspects which surely helped me. And I really loved the guitar sound which the fret sliding sound, ohhh wow, I just loved that. I have been playing a piano since childhood but not trained, I just like to find some tunes and have a nice time. I want to get a good piano and learn chords, using both hands etc. DG-670 has some fantastic sounds with the features of a classic piano sounds and pedals which I think makes it perfect for what I need. I tried the Rolland R102 and loved its key action but as my first weighted keyboard its a drastic change and not comfortable playing longer sessions. I think yamaha key action is not as heavy as the Roland.

    I would like if instead of a slim manual, they would include a DVD with demos. Or, perhaps a demo online. I have the DGX-670 and there is a lot to learn! Another problem I have is when playing the accompaniment. It is overwhelming the loudness of the lead. Also, when changing chords, you sort of have to hit the left hand chord a bit ahead of the groove or it sounds like it's late.

      I hope this is a helpful point for anyone reading:
      An important change from DGX660 to DGX670 was that the wooden stand is no longer included in the box along with the piano. DGX660 used to come with a wooden stand (just like the L300 stand that is available for DGX670) that screwed to the underside of the piano.
      In its box, the Yamaha DGX670 contains the piano itself, the power adaptor, music rest, printed manual, and single sustain pedal.

      Thank you for the nice comment, bauljdg. The keys on both P-125 and DGX-670 are exactly the same. The action is the Yamaha GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) which is a really nice authentic piano-style action. I also found out that you can use the microphone input to connect an electric guitar and use the DSP to create new sounds much like pedals while playing with midi files with the keyboard.
