I know this might sound stupid but I switched off Mint Linux because of how basic and limited the customization is. But this video changed everything! Thank you so much for this easy tutorial. ✨
I love this tutorial! I have been searching for so long on how to customize my linux mint because all the other videos have been so basic. Thank you so much!
I think, i will apply these tips for my migration to linux. I plan to abandon windows completely for the winter holidays. Screw windows 11 and their ai surveillance. Thanks for the video.
I had the mac os button layout for windows buttons as default, but suddenly today it came back to x square and underscore.any idea how to revert back to the mac ones??
Not much, because most customizations like changing wallpapers, icons, and fonts are static changes. They don’t require continuous background processes, so they have minimal impact on speed and overall performance.
I like the video. Do you know of any file explorer GUI that works on Mint that looks like MacOS finder? I mainly seek the feature where the directories are seperated in columns and you can move around with arrow keys. I know of ranger but thats CLI
Check out *Krusader* It has a twin-panel layout with lots of features for easy file management. It won’t look exactly like macOS Finder, but it’s pretty powerful for navigating files.
Hi everyone, Serious question, I've a lot of Linux Mint videos. Yes, I'm a Windows 11 user but Linux Mint looks very interesting. Is it worth the change? Thanks and Take care
Switched a few weeks back from Win10. Its so good. Just check what software you use and what the Linux alternative is. If you do 3D modelling like with SolidWorks you might have problems. SolidWorks does not support Linux. Many high-end CAD software does not. Games are good and will work thanks to Steam Proton. Literally all of them work, except anti-cheat games like Valorant or PUBG.
Viewing through up to the point where one is expect to type in code, and I reckon that's where a lot of Windows users give up trying to change. It's unclear why these lines of code are not contained in self-executing clickable icons, but the need to enter lines of code are common to every linux distro I've ever heard about. For a kindergarten level newbie it's a massive wall to know where to type code, what code it should be, and where to find out information pitched towards kindergarten level newbies. When I want a fridge I want to use it without having to know how the condenser and power supply work. Likewise it would be good if distros were made as much plug and play as possible, with easy explanations what every unfamiliar icon means.
Indeed, Linux can be less beginner-friendly compared to Windows or Mac, as it's often used by programmers and tech enthusiasts. Dealing with a bit of code is not a big deal for them, but I understand it can be challenging if you're new to it. If you still want to try Linux, I recommend starting with Ubuntu, which has a modern user interface and a large user base, so there's plenty of support available. Whenever you get stuck, feel free to ask ChatGPT or other smart chatbots for help. Personally, I don't have much expertise in the Linux terminal either. I often just Google or use ChatGPT to get answers. For example, if you want to install Google Chrome, you can simply type: sudo apt install google-chrome (in your terminal) ChatGPT or a search will often give you copyable commands that you can directly paste into your terminal. Trust me, 90% of the time, it works!
