I'm sticking with Mint simply because I don't really need to move to anything else, it's already pretty good running games under Proton and Bottles and the customization is so liberating.
I make my Bottom Left corner to open a New desktop and Open Discord, Launch Steam, and OBS Studio for Streaming, This is what I'd use these Corners for at 0:41
I remember there was an extension (Spice) for an older version of Cinnamon that let me use Global Menu.. but that is no longer available, I wish it was possible to somehow get it back.. because I frequently go back and forth between my Mac (as required for work) and my home system (currently using Linux Mint) I made sure that I have very similar setup on these two as much as possible.. so I used plank on KDE on the left side of the DE and a top panel on KDE with Global Menu... along with very similar keybindings. If Cinnamon can natively give option for Global Menu feature like KDE I would definitely use it and wouldn't care to spend extra time to add an additional DE.
debian and ubuntu are obviously necessary but i just dont like using them or cinnamon. im always impressed when i see a nicely themed cinnamon desktop on mint.
I don't know how to make the close, minimize and maximize buttons bigger in Linux mint because I'm used to big buttons like windows and they are like Mac, Round and small, Which I don't like. I searched on Google but didn't find an answer. Help me out here
Coming from Windows, and I've been slowly testing out Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Neon, and Manjaro KDE Plasma. And so far, Manjaro seems closest to not only the Windows environment, but also the Steam OS. I'd like to see Linux Mint have a KDE Plasma Edition for comparison.
I don't think it'll happen, but there's nothing stopping you from trying to install and run KDE Plasma on Mint. I did that with Gnome recently (because it's the only DE that has consistently worked for me) and it's working just fine.
@@probablyyourneighbororsome8412 Yes I did this back in the day and it works Pretty well, just mints theme settings apps obviously don't apply on KDE. In the end I just went with Cinnamon though!
@ Thanks for all the replies, but I was just wondering why there's not any out of the box KDE Plasma for Mint? You know how Windows users hate the terminal and all those commands.
Yess, I love Linux so much, but I still find myself preferring Mac on laptops. On desktop, it depends on what I'm using my system for. I dual boot Fedora and macOS on my M1 Mini.
I'm not a fan of the old packages on Mint. Older drivers, older and slower stacks, etc. Because of this I choose Ubuntu for my latest distro hop. Not sure what my next hop will be.
is there a way we can remove title bar on linux on every app in linux ? i have searched online for the answers but mostly it's for disabling title bar for firefox but i would like to remove the title bar for every application
i use mint not because im a noob , because cinnamon is my favorite desktop enviroment
@@marioleal8751 mint is my favorite distro and I love cinnamon
I started on Ubuntu, then switched to Mint, and recntly switched to CachyOS (Arch Distro) on which I installed Cinnamon.
Same here. Currently using CachyOS with hyprland.
Very similar from Mint to Zorin to CachyOS with plasma. So far… no problems… i love installing programs with Yay
@ I like Plasma,
but I don't like any Qt/KDE apps.
This way I stay wtih Cinnamon/Gtk.
Nice bunch of tips there. Never thought of using a corner to launch a program before. I use one for show desktop. But that will change :)

Same tired of hopping around, mint works just fine

it has the layout of windows 7 and still have one main config app that look like the control panel !
Of all the desktops, Cinnamon feels like to most sane option... and I'm usually on Plasma outside of work.
I hope the Linux Mint switches over to Wayland by default in the near future updates!
Very nice!

I use Mint because Arch scares me
I like Linux Mint Cinnamon. It's a good distro. However, my PC hardware performs better with Windows 11, especially when gaming.

Installing a theme with bigger buttons might help. I'm not sure if that actually 100% works though
Great video, even though you only uploaded it 3 minutes ago I have already watched the whole thing on 3x speed.

It used to back in 17 I think? But KDE was dropped, probably to focus on GTK development instead of splitting with QT.
sudo apt install plasma
