Do you live in NY? Do you ride the subways? do you know how many gifted musicians are playing at subway stations? After the first few, even though many are extraordinarily talented. You get used to it and keep moving.
ak47law Spoken like someone banging buckets with sticks in the subway stations. Keep on moving huh? Seems it wasn't clear to you that's exactly what I do. Your permission, like your presence, is neither needed or wanted. Save your elementary insults for the children.
bwoodsfinest For some, you are right. But for those of us that are profoundly moved by the music and a human beings commitment to making an honest living, these performers make each second of each day in the subterranean hell that is the NYC subway system more peaceful and enjoyable. Tossing them some spare change or a few bucks is a righteous move. Positive energy that flows while you allow your soul to shine and your spirit to moved is certainly appreciated by the performer. You are right on, Brenda It's all just a matter of perspective. Yours and mine are both plausible. Just thought I'd give you mine. Peace!
Love this guy. His name is Danny Small and he lives in Harlem, he sings on the subway most days. Wish I'd seen him sing live, I wouldn't have talked over his performance like these people did..
So moved over how beautiful his voice is! Such an amazing and genuine talent! Yet having him go unnoticed is so heartbreaking! May he soon be blessed with the acknowledgment he deserves!
I love this guy!!!! I see him at least once a week! And every single time I have to stop and listen. He is a gem. I have missed many a train for this voice.
this is what music is ALL about. passion commitment and love for the whole process. this guy embodies what it means to be a performing musician. nothing but love and respect for people like him.
God Bless this man! So many people walked by & acted as if he wasn't even there. Keep singing..... Somebody's listening. 9 out of 10 people (who profess to be singers... especially) don't even have this level of talent & couldn't do it anyway.
Amazing. And people are just not giving a shit about it, sitting there, leaving or walking by. How could you?... This just shows what happens with the human nowadays.
I pity those people waiting for the subway and behaving like nothing's happening, I really feel for them... They must be dead inside! I'm just watching this on my phone's screen and it gives me a huge smile and teary eyes :'D
He is so full of life and he sings from heart. He is BLESSED! No education or training necessary. That is a very rare gift. I am "educated" and I love music but can't play diddle (or sing)!
The answer is easy - who appeals to teenage girls ? A crusty old black guy or a fresh face heart throb ? Obviously it's NOT about talent. It's about looks.
guesswho revaz This guy is Danny Small. He used to sing for John Gotti back in the days, Legendary Do-wop singer. Probably makes a better living singing in the subways then most people working 40 hour weeks. I know a man with a dog begging averages 35 bucks an hour in NYC
JUSTIN Bieber today young people are lost in society. PEOPLE MINGLE IN TRASH YOUNG INFATUATED WITH LOOKS NOT ETHICAL ACCORDANCE IN TRUTH OF LIFE THE WORD OF GOD.
Holy crap! That is amazing! I need to hire him just to sing and entertain me at home. You don't hear music and voices like that anymore. Get him on TV and the radio PLEASE!
Yo, he put a smile on my face...he is good...I love the dancing moves he put in there all without getting up out of his SEAT!!!! NOW THAT IS TALENT!!!!
As someone else said, how can people stand around looking so detached? I was sat down, am disabled, and I STILL wanted to dance! (Not possible, sadly, but I can still wiggle pretty well!) This gentleman was totally in the moment singing this, which apart from his amazing voice, is one of the things that made it so enjoyable. There is so much talent around us, we should try to enjoy it, especially when someone this talented wants to share it :)
he looks like he's having a great time when he sings. ive seen him in many youtube videos singing in subways, id love to meet him in person, he seems like a great man
possibly one of the best singers of that style of music, very soulful, and perfect intonation, in the same categorry as stevie wonder and donny hathaway etc,,,,, great,,,, forget "america has got talent" and programs like that,,, none of them have any talent next to this guy,,, someone give him a chance to record....,phenomenal....long live good soul music,,,,, cheers
This beautiful life of ours...we have all sorts and we can be who we are; when we want and ....just because. Thank you for this inspiring video! Viva la Vida! Viva!
this guy is still down there singing the same songs, although he moved from Columbus Circle to Port Authority. I saw him last week singing Sam Cooke while waiting for the A train.
One has to give this man credit for giving something to the people with only the slightest hope that they reciprocate the gesture. I recall seeing a young boy in the streets of Mexico who juggled lemons. He wasn't the best, but he chose lemons rather than a cardboard sign.
He has the most pure and talented singing skill that I have ever heard by far! This man's voice is beautiful. This would bring tears to my eyes if I heard him in person. Absolutely amazing! Where is a talent scout when you need one? I know a shit load of baby boomers and otherwise that would love a record made by him!
Wow, this guy is a diamond in the ruff! He is absolutely incredible! I hope someone out there with some clout in the music industry see's this guy. Or perhaps someone see's this and forwards it to someone they know has clout.
This guys got soul and talent, and he looks happier than the miserable sods sat and stood around.Should be more people around like him , the world would be a much happier place.
Kozmoz, In 1992 I was singing and playing guitar in the subways of Boston with a friend. He had a great voice and played a mean 12 string guitar. I played lead guitar and sang a few songs. We used battery operated amps, had mics and stands, even effects for my guitar. We would get up at 5:30,am get to the subway by about 6:30 am . From then to about 11 pm we played at various stops on the different lines, red, blue, green. It was grueling. You could basically play one good song between trains. At the end of the week, on a good week, we'd have $300. And we were among the best and most well known subway teams. Later we added a black man who had a phenomenal voice. We were all living at a homeless shelter specifically for veterans. Bostonians are probably familiar with it. Eventually, we formed a real band and played real gigs. In fact, we even opened for J. Geils and Magic Dick when they were Bluestime. But if you think it was easy money...you're dead wrong. By the time we got back home at around midnight, we were wiped out. And had to do the same thing 5 hours later. All for about $150 a week each. Oh, and we had to stand up most of the time because the MBTA cops wouldn't let us take a commuter's seat on the limited bench space in most stops.
How can everyone just sit there? This is the real thing -- Music for the love of music --- Some this man some respect --- Let him know you appreciate him.
I'm trying to figure out how people are able to sit and stand around looking so dead. My God! This man's voice is a blessing.
lovewhispers68 Amen... I agree.

ak47law You're finished? Do you feel better yet or do you need to have at it some more. If yes, I'd recommend a therapist.

There is so much soul in this mans voice. He is absolutely amazing.
I love this guy!!!! I see him at least once a week! And every single time I have to stop and listen. He is a gem. I have missed many a train for this voice.

I love this guy! Real soul in his voice
God Bless this man! So many people walked by & acted as if he wasn't even there. Keep singing..... Somebody's listening. 9 out of 10 people (who profess to be singers... especially) don't even have this level of talent & couldn't do it anyway.
u dont see much of it about these days, but in the old days we called it soul, a lot of these younger generation just wouldnt understand
You know what. A bloke like this entertaining so many people DESERVES more than a dollar from those passing by. He deserves recognition and a chance!
I love watching this guy! You can hear him throughout the station when he's singing...everyday!! What a joy!
Amazing.
And people are just not giving a shit about it, sitting there, leaving or walking by.
How could you?... This just shows what happens with the human nowadays.
god bless this man's voice! That is soul at its finest!
Wow! He's wonderful....What a blessing to hear him.
I pity those people waiting for the subway and behaving like nothing's happening, I really feel for them... They must be dead inside!

That is a very rare gift. I am "educated" and I love music but can't play diddle (or sing)!
Sounds so good. I listened first without watching him. God bless him
