  • Barbour Fork (s?) trail is a classic with my group of friends. We used to go here many times a year so it was nice to revisit it after not going for a couple years. It’s definitely changed, my last video is in the snow and I’m not sure I would’ve made Trojan Hill if it was snowy. At any rate it still holds all its value with smooth flexy sections, rock climbing sections, loose rock hills and downhill ledges. I lifted tires more times this day than I have in awhile and with it being so close to Denver this is a great day trip or overnight camp. This one is right on the line for my difficulty rating scale for the playlists, I put it into medium but it's a hard medium. Anyway I only saw one rig on the trail which was Thomas (hope I’m remembering this correctly) from Colorado 4x4 Rescue & Recovery which is a great organization and service we have out here. I completed the totally dry loop and did a tent review and still made it home for dinner. Have fun out there!

    My Tires:
    amzn.to/2whk2MF
I love these tires. The only others I'd take are the BFG KO2 but they don't make them in this size and the KM2's are amazing. You can probably imagine the amount of driving I do weekly and how much abuse my tires get. These things last, everyone knows this, you've seen it in my videos.
    My Tire Deflators:
    amzn.to/2nYVxzU
These tire deflators have many $15 copies but the others just don't hold up or are inaccurate. I don't know what the deal is, they look identical to me too but read the reviews- they're bad. I've been using these Staun's for over a year and never had a problem, I air down a lot. Set them at the trail so your tires will be the same temp when you get to the trail next time.
    My Compressor:
    amzn.to/2PuerLH
There are better ones but I'd just get a bigger VIAIR, not something different. Airs up all my 33's from 14psi to 37psi in less than 10 minutes.
    My Microphone:
    amzn.to/2P1S3sb
My microphone is the worst good mic you can get. BUT don't be fooled, it's a very good mic. Picture me getting in my car for the 50th time after I just ran up and down a hill... for the 50th time. Do you see me disconnecting my mic and gingerly setting it in a case? No. It stays connected to the tripod, gets thrown into my plastic cargo area and bounces around with other heavy items until the next one. It gets terrible interference from WiFi so you must make sure that it's off on your camera or phone. If you are trying to use this with your phone you need to get a TRS to TRRS cable which RODE makes. This is required because your phone will think the mic is headphones.
    My Tripod:
    amzn.to/2o8h6hL
I went through 2 tripods in 1 month, a $20 and a $30. Buy it nice or buy it thrice. This thing gets opened and closed MANY times per week in rain, snow, dirt, and even in the middle of rivers. I love the 2-stage legs so i can make it real low in 2sec instead of shortening all the legs.
    My Drone:
    amzn.to/2KUGWAp
You can tell how easy it was to progress through my videos. Besides maybe five times, you've seen every bit of flying since I got it. I don't fly in the city and I don't go to the mountains and not make a video. It is VERY easy to use.
    My Drone ND Filters:
    amzn.to/2MHV0R0
The filters are a must. Again I have the worst ones and I am still very pleased. My first use was video #35 and I think it is very apparent. Illinois Gulch (#34 obviously) has a completely white sky, way too much blue. I'm still not even good about selecting the right one or changing them out but it's 10x better than nothing.
    My Books:
    amzn.to/2wmd20O CO
    amzn.to/2BzDIBc CO North
    amzn.to/2ByPuvy Moab
This is the stuff I've tested, this is what I like. I am very hard on all of my equipment frequently and it still works. I back all of these items and each company seems to back their product very well too. I guess it's easy to offer a warranty when your stuff doesn't break.

@@BRollOffroad yes. There is now a gate to the south side blocking the loop. Says private property. Never saw it before but large gate and in a terrible spot with no forewarning when on the loop. Bs to me!

damn, just read some TrailsOffroad reviews and it’s true, it’s almost intact but is now 2 forks instead of a loop. from Paul’s review on TO:
I ran into US Forest Service today at the trailhead after discovering new gates at the private property boundary (see brown square in a screenshot below). I talked to them a while and they informed me that the land is and always has been private property. The old land owner did not care about the trail crossing his land. This land recently was sold to a new owner and they do not want to allow access anymore.
This is sad, but the owners are well within their rights to do so. The USFS gentlemen told me that nothing bad happened, etc. The new land owners simply have different plans for the property.

Hit Barbour Forks yesterday for the first time this year and what a bummer! They graded the road up to 2:30 to where a Corolla could damn near make it up to 2:56 with little trouble. The "gate keeper" obstacle is gone (buried). Literally didn't have to put it into 4wd until 2:30. That and you can't do the full loop anymore. Still fun tho, but a bit of a bummer

i knew they closed it, part of it was private land and it got sold or something, can’t remember why it happened exactly.
first news of them grooming it, wonder if it’s related.

i think it’s great, this thing surprises me almost weekly. i don’t have sway bars which helps a lot but even with them it’s still good. the OME lift is holding up nicely, i have probably 45k miles on it with lots of them being offroad obviously and still fine. i DO take it as easy as possible but still, i’m pleased.

    • @BRollOffroad

i think those are on super heavy rigs or something.. this is my 4th set and i always get around 40k. i also don’t corner super hard without sway bars and i think hauling through corners wrecks any tires.
