  • I go over the how much fruit is produced on the Sugarcane Jujube and the amount that was harvested in Oct. I show how much birds and bees love the fruit and then compare size with the Shanxi (this is it's first year in the ground). At the end of the video I do a taste test and talk about the difference in flavor, size, and the amount of crunch in a ripe but not fully ripe Jujube.

I recommend you try grafting onto new green permanent branches. Sounds weird, but it has given me the highest take percentage.

That is sound advice, I will give it a go when it starts growing in a couple of months. Thank you!!

it's like honey jar, Sugar cone size should be doubled

That is what I was thinking, but last year I didn't have near as many, and they were twice the size..... so maybe because they were pollinated so late, or there were so many. Who knows.

      @@flackfruit Nice trees, congrats!
btw, i agree with Xionghuang it is likely Honey jar. Actually not a bad thing since HJ is the cultivar that is often out of stock, being superior to sugar cane. Not sure where you are at, but here in vegas, sugar cane tends to have a bitter off-taste when ripened in 115F weather. Sugar cane fruits are more ovoid in shape, while HJ's are typically roundish, even when fruits are larger.

I can confirm this is definitely Honey Jar. I have both Sugar Cane and Honey Jar and Sugar Cane are oval, darker brown and larger overall.

A neighbour gave me a mason jar with jujube fruit , what she did was roast them in the oven . I forgot the jar in my pantry for a couple of months ,they didn't go bad

The GA 866 jujube is the sweetest Jujube of all.

Thank you, have you tried the Sugarcane vs the GA 866? I will graft it to one of my trees and give it a go. Thanks!!

GA866 is supposed to have the highest sugar content but it doesn't translate and it performs and produces poorly.
      Most folks graft over it.
