This video is indispensable and a must watch for someone like me, who struggles not only with color choices for colorwork items but also any project that is more than one color. I’ve been trying (and failing) lately to make appropriate matches and have even resorted to using color generator apps, most of which are not the least bit helpful. This video, however, is just what I needed to banish the bad knitter blues and I shouldn’t be surprised that it comes from Brooklyn Tweed, one of my favorite yarn companies. Thank you so much for this video! It was incredibly comprehensive. I know I’ll be watching it at least a dozen times and implementing the tips you suggested in my next project.

We're so glad that you found this helpful, Lee Anne! Understanding color value makes all the difference - it's so disappointing to work on a colorwork project and discover that your colors don't stand out from each other. We can't wait to see what awesome things you will create now that you know what to look for!

This is by far the best how-to-choose and combine colors for knitting, craft, decorating (because it can be used for anything) video I have watched. I am so grateful to receive your newsletter. I have learned so much from you and appreciate your time on this. I am not afraid to try new and advanced knitting techniques, but am always afraid of combining colors as I am not good at it.

Thanks so much! We're so glad you found this helpful! It's so frustrating to spend all that time knitting colorwork and then not have it turn out like you wanted... we've all been there. Happy knitting!

@@BrooklynTweed_Official i just checked your website and actually I forgot to mentioned that I like to learn how to make a swatch in stranded colorwork. So, I like the begging and the end of the threads 2 colors together. Plus I notice like a braid before the ending knots on the swatch. Please make a video tutorial like this!🥹🥹

Another quality tutorial - thank you! However since I'm unlikely to knit a colorwork sweater anytime soon - more likely to be a beanie section or scarf ends - would you please do a video of how to make my swatches into little rugs while I'm practicing? Pretty please? :)

@@BrooklynTweed_Official Thanks Jarod. I'm really impressed that your examples are miniatures in themselves rather than half done scraps. While I would hesitate to use one as a "mug rug" (too precious too spill coffee on!) there are numerous things in my home that could use a little rug and give me a sense of accomplishment to boot :) Off to check your link - thanks again.

Aw thanks! That's Jared's Otte Hat pattern (linked in the video description) that I knit out of some scrappy bits of Arbor I'd been saving up! I used Nightfall, Loam, Cobbler, Firebrush, Rainier, Tincture and Heron - the pattern has options for 4 or 7 colors. Happy knitting! -- Kel
