  • For my first race after running #100miles: • Uwharrie 100 - My Firs... , I decided last minute to hop into the Cloudland Canyon 50K #ultramarathon in west Georgia with runbumtours (www.runbumtours.com/). I had never been here before so I was excited to see the new area; unfortunately the course was altered slightly this year due to flooding, but the main canyon views and waterfalls were still included.
Since I had only run a handful of times between my 100 and this race, I had no real expectations other then to have fun #ultrarunning through the #mountains . My body definitely took a beating as I was dealing with overall fatigue and cramping for most of the race, but I made the best out of it and still finished strong.
After the race I did a short little interview with Scott Abshire @scottapants , the race photographer for ‪@runbumraces‬. His official website @LGdesigns with all of the race photos, running podcast and and others can be found here: linktr.ee/sabshire so go check him out!
    My first #ultramarathon:
    • Georgia Sky to Summit ...

OMG, thanks for the shout out--and during your race even! That made my day, Scott.😁And no, we haven't met. I'm an older guy and I've been a runner for quite a while, but mainly 5k/10k type stuff. I've known about Uwharrie for a few years and been curious about it and other trail races and ultras in these parts. I subbed to your channel when I spotted your Uwharrie 100 mile video in my recommendations.
I had never heard of Cloudland Canyon before, let alone of a race there. There really are some incredible views, and man that course elevation profile was bonkers. Like you say, mostly runnable but only after you've done that incredible descent and ascent. It looked like a great event though, and a really nice day to be out there. Congratulations on giving it all you had and running an awesome race!

Well I must thank you; your engagement so far on my videos has already more than likely helped my channel grow! Interacting with others and engaging with those with similar running background, or even completely different backgrounds is fun, so I’m glad I’m beginning to reach out to a broader audience and inspiring, or at least providing some entertainment, to others in the running community.
I don’t want you to now feel obligated to comment on everything now that I’ve shouted out out 😂, but I have pinned this comment to the top of the video so this interaction can be read first by others watching! Thanks again for all the support!

@@ScottRunsnStuff Thanks for the reply and the pin, Scott! I'm happy to be able to help your channel, and since my old running buddies are all ex-runners at this point, chatting about running helps me a lot too. I might not have much to offer on your climbing videos😄but I'm very interested in keeping up with your running journey, and learning more about southeastern trail races is motivation to keep working on my fitness.

Well fortunately running is the main focus of my channel, with climbing and skiing (and potentially backpacking in the future) working their way onto the page when I can! Running documentaries are by far my favorite to make, and thankfully they are the most engaging ones!

thinking of running this the end of 2024, this vid helped a million with understanding what the trail looks like, thanks so much!❤

Absolutely! It’s a good race! If I remember correctly when I ran it here the course was changed a bit due to some flooding. We omitted a loop section and the out-and-back was a little longer to account for the distance. I might see you out there this year!

Hopefully with the recent changes to GA state park permitting and cost per runner changes this race will continue to happen. I’m glad I agreed to run it this year since it may end up being the last time running this usual (or close to usual) route that is typically run.

Thank you! That means a lot because I learned an entire new editing software to put this one together. It’s much more robust and allows for more creativity, but it took me a long time to learn just the simple commands!

Thank you! Have you run any of Run Bum’s events before? They’re some of the most beautiful courses I’ve ever run! He’s got a lot in the Southeastern part of the country (GA, NC, VA)

No I have not. I just got into running like a year ago. I started with 5k races and now branching out to ultra's! I'm enjoying seeing the courses around NC on your page! I'm also NC!

Awesome! Yeah I’ve done a lot around here but I’m always looking for new and exciting races to run and film. It’s so fun looking back and rewatching my own stuff to see how the race went! Let me know if you want any tips or recommendations of amazing ultras around here!

Awesome! Yes, @MountTinMan and I met actually at the Umstead 100 early this year (2022) cause I recognized him from his videos. Now we talk regularly and planned the Shakori 40 mile together as well as some other ultras in the future! Keep tabs on both of our channels cause we might be co-collaborating in our next training blocks ahead of our big goals! (Oops, did I say too much?? 😂)
Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel, I really appreciate it! Is there anything specific you’d like me to talk about in a future video?

did 50K just fly by after the slow rocky miles at Uwharrie?

    • @ScottRunsnStuff
      @ScottRunsnStuff  Рік тому

I mean time-wise I guess because it was only 7 hours, but since my body was cramping for the last 3 hours (which didn’t happen at Uwharrie) it still felt like it took a while to finally get finished. I was sorta over it by mile 25
