Phoenix's Hidden Gem Unveiled: Epic Trail Running at South Mountain Preserve
This month I took a trip across the US to run a "Grand" event, bucket-list adventure. I flew into Phoenix, AZ a couple days before and couldn't pass up the opportunity to explore some miles at South Mountains Preserve before making the final road trip to the Canyon. Stay tuned for the release of that coming soon!

2024 GRAYSON HIGHLANDS State Park 50km Ultra
Переглядів 222Місяць тому
For the 2024 Grayson Highlands 50km Ultramarathon I decided to drop down from the 50 mile event and instead run the 50km race with two friends of mine, Dana and her husband Tyler. Together we navigated some interesting course conditions, but despite the weather it was still a great day. Tyler finished his FIRST official ultramarathon, Dana, her third, and they both absolutely crushed it! #ultra...

Skiing Beginner Trees at Keystone

This is perfect for the beginner/intermediate looking to improve their skills before trying designated tree runs.
Skiing UNEVA TREE RUN ◆ 4K | Keystone Resort

On the far left (skiers right) of the #keystoneresort Bergman bowl is a tree run called Uneva - its the only black diamond run in this bowl that takes you right back to the Bergman Express. These trees are not as steep as the glades off the Outback lift and would be a good test for an intermediate skier or rider to practice and gain confidence. Towards the bottom the pitch does get a bit steepe...

Congrats. I know how steep great Scott is. Last time I looked down it it was mandatory air to get in.

Whoopdeedoo is absolutely steep. I’ve done Lake Chutes and the Devil’s crotch out in Breckinridge and it’s every bit as intimidating when standing at the top. This is a narrow run so little room for error and when/if you fall there’s no getting up. See you at the bottom. Plus when it’s cold and the wind is blowing it’s just one big solid sheet of ice. I hit it 3 times yesterday in slushy conditions and it was great. I’m a big fan of Gunther’s Way. That’s a sneaky steep run towards the bottom but very wide so much more manageable than a run like WhoopdeDoo or Boulder Dash (also a tough narrow run)

Thanks for giving this trail the rights it deserves! I’ve skied a bit out west too ( few different resorts across Colorado and Utah) and still Whoopdeedoo is up there with some of the steeper chutes and bowls. You really gotta know what you’re doing too (not just straight-line it) cause there’s that super tight bend at the bottom to merge back into the blue trail.

I’ve done double blacks and bowls at vail, breck, big sky etc and this looks like an normal blue or abnormally hard green 😐

@@Anarchy_C0EIt’s cause it’s groomed which makes the go pro effect even worse. It has a max pitch of 35 degrees which is about 10-15 degrees steeper than most blues.

It’s shorter than the typical ‘yard’ but the elevation definitely makes up for it! Anyone who drops out of the LMS race will be recognized as a 5k finisher (or 50k) if they make it that far. So there’s no actual DNF’s at this race, but there were some 5-hr 5k finish times 😂
