I bought my 1 month ago and I Don't have anything to complain about it. I'm using with Fedora and I'm playing Black myth Wukong and the highest temperature I got was 74°C. The price was okay, not cheap because I live in Europe but it was the same price that Lenovo LOQ with the same specs ( RTX 4060 and AMD 7840hs)
I really loved that legion slim 5 14"...changed it for G14 2023 later only because I got a good deal (got zephyrus and +600$). Now I ordered Legion 7i, can't wait to test it ❤
Really hoping this gets a refresh with Ryzen AI HX chips! Agree on all points (especially the dual m.2 slots) - I would love to see a Glacier White option like the Legion 7i - I'd buy that in half a second!
This laptop was my favourite laptop for last year. For this year, my favourite is the Asus TUF A14. So I have a video suggestion, do your favourite laptop reviews for the year and then your favourite tech items you reviewed for the year. I believe it would be interesting and I will definitely watch it.
I got my slim 5 around april and I have no complaints at all. My biggest concern was that if the laptop would be too small because I was using a Dell Inspiron and its a big laptop with a dvd player and a keyboard with number pad. The positioning of the screen is taller than Inspiron which makes it perfect for eyes and you really don’t feel it is a 14” until you pick it up. You really don’t need a bigger laptop imo.
To be honest. I have the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 with Core Ultra 7 155H + RTX 4050. I think this is better, is more slimmer and lighter. And it can handle all games in Ultra. 14.5" as well and OLED.
Decided on this too after endless searching for the slimmest gaming able laptop .. Rtx4050 is the perfect balance to keep it slim without throttling . This legion 14 inch with a 4060 would be my second choice, but I just don't like gaming laptops because they look like bricks. Only downside is that 4050 isn't as good but that's the sacrifice u have to make to get the slimmest laptop that doesn't throttle
Yes …. I fucking loved this laptop . I had it for a week . It was my first laptop this year , I have since bought/ returned 3 other ones … this one was by far the best . I returned mine because the finger print censor broke after only 3 days and I got scared about Lenovo quality … I wish I had just exchanged it lol .
Got this back in April with 32gb RAM I think you hit on a lot the good and bad points better speakers and a vrr screen with advanced Optimus would make it near perfect one thing I noticed while gaming is that the 170w it comes with isn't powerful enough to fully power performance mode and so you'll get battery drain, and if you want to charge at or near the full 140w usb-c you'll need Lenovo's own brick and cable (I have the 135w one) but then you can only game in quiet mode to avoid battery drain. I've seen some posts about this and apparently you need a 230w charger to not experience battery drain on performance mode
Yeah i got the 32gb version refurbed with a 1 year lenovo warranty for 1k USD after taxes. It's an awesome machine, I wish the speakers were better but everything is extremely good. I dont miss my M3 macbook pro at all and this thing was significantly less money.
Lenovo outsmarted all of us in 2024. They saw that the 1st gen core ultra for their gaming laptops wasn’t worth it but the 2nd gen core ultra and ryzen hx would be significantly better. So for 2025 I think we will see legion with those chips.
At the end of the day in tech there isn’t really a “best moment to buy” something new and improved is always around the corner and the waiting game could essentially last forever. I just bought the legion 5 slim amd 4070, and I think it’s going to serve me well.
There's def a right time . Buying a new model on sale is the right time . Waiting until the end of it's span is the wrong time. Buying the old model when the new one is released is also the right time if you want it on sale .. The longer u wait the more outdated it becomes regardless of what model u chose so buying it early on is key .or when the new one just released to get a deal on the old model . Don't wait longer
Thanks to ur asus g14 vs slim 5 video, i ordered the 16inch version. In Malaysia we only have soldered 16gb RAM version for 14 inch so that is a no no for me
I kinda hope for the refresh to have a 1200p option, since that's what you'd play most your games at on this laptop anyway. 2880x1800 is just an odd resolution and IMO too much for a 14" gaming laptop.
Am I the only one that wants miniled for the 14? I get oled has infinitely better contrast and response times but I run a lot of static content on my display that can burn in especially since I tend to run at full brightness. Btw hope arrow lake borrows lunar lakes power efficiency for the 7i gen 10 or even an AMD variant
Saw the title and got excited thinking I had missed an announcement lol. I've been debating this or the new ASUS Tuff A14 (once it goes on sale, MSRP is a massive no). Do you plan to review the A14? Also, what do you do with your laptops after you use them? Do you sell them?
The a14 is pricy now so maybe. Yes I buy and then sell the laptops at a loss, so I need to be very careful with what I review. Especially since I don’t have sponsorships
they need to remake the legion slim 7 gen 8 AMD 2023 VERSION. Similar to the silm 5 16 2024 ( amd ) with all the slim 7 features plus faster sd card reader.
I am really looking forward to buying this on a good deal. It seems the 32GB ram variant is lost. No thunderbolt, will it be a problem if I want to use a higher refresh rate external monitor? Also, overall, is it good for the upcoming 4-5 hours regarding everything?
Hi Beau thanks for the fantastic converage of this model. You've convinced me to get it as my next laptop. I'm also in Canada and the lowest I can find it for is $1,550. Is it worth it at that price? Any suggestions on where to find it at the price you paid? Thanks!
@TechGuyBeau I saw it in facebook marketplace where someone is selling it for 1.4k canadian dollars in canada. However, I live in Malaysia and the only way to get it was from a help of friend. My friend wont be coming back until next year May and i will be off to Germany for unis next year April. So, its impossible for me to get it in time before going to Germany🥺🥺 I saw a listing in my local marketplace selling for 2050 canadian dollars and that is the only model left. I still dont know what to do until now. Do you have any suggestions? Like should i wait or? My current Y530 still works well but Im scared it might break down anytime soon as it is closing to 6 years. Im aiming for a 14 inch oled gaming laptop. Any suggestions? Thank you so much❤️
Is a 2025 model confirmed to come out for the 14 inch slim 5? Asking because the 1 TB, 7940 AMD is on sale right now for about $1150 and the 512 GB, 7840 for $1099
Dont care about new cpu, if they don't fix usb c power delivery and dgpu sleep problems it will be forever blacklisted. Also matte ips option would be nice :)
The Victis will perform better but will have a significantly worse screen and cheap build quality. The Legion 14 has a way better display and significantly better build quality
That's what I exactly expect for 2025 Legion 14" models!!
We are mind melded
With vrr display

Dead motherboard is a common problems for LOQ, especially in India markets.
I think it's excellent for the price point. Others with same specs are generally more expensive.
Insane he got it for 1050 cad though wtf? Just paid 1500 gbp new which is 3x that....

no please NO. 7840hs vs 8840hs is already a good prove that ai capabilities make cpus worse than cpus without it.
I bought the 16inch recently, have it for a month now and it's so so awesome!!!
I bought it a couple of months ago. It's just perfect. Thanks for your reviews. Keep it up.

Hey Beau! Could you do a video like this for the Legion Pro 7i for 2025? Talking about changes you'd want and how they could improve it
Not a bad idea. I might just do that :)
@@TechGuyBeau Thanks so much 🙏🏾 hope Lenovo listens to these videos and implement some of them
Hopefully 2025 Pro 7i will be alot better than the 2023 and 2024, more premium like before with great performance

Gonna sell it for a slim 5 16 with an rtx 4070 and newer processor. Really liked the laptop, but got too hot when gaming imo.
