The place where I stay, we have never experienced flood but it's good to see how people from different parts of the country are supporting us and weird too. Bcoz people here believe that we north easterns r not treated properly or basically ignored in other parts of the country. We don't have to think about what we would wear today. Plus these are not the low quality cottons manufactured in India. These are high quality Pima cotton from Uniqlo. @@abhirupchoudhury1156 I've been there in Assam recently passed out from iitg which is very near to Brahmaputra river....just lemme know that what would have been the situation if he was a bit early?....why can't you just appreciate the fact that he is acknowledging the problem which your state face every year...also have you tried to help your near or dear ones affecting from this floods?.... also one bizarre thing I've noticed during my stay in Assam is that only the rural areas where majority of population is extremely poor are being affected by this flood disaster so the GOvt and even people of Assam aren't that concern about it in real..most of peoples concern are limited upto digital platforms only.....though im not blaming anyone it's just how we as a human have become....

This problem of flood, which I consider to be a yearly disaster, has to be tackled in a totally planned manner with proper resource management. This can be done by implementing both short term solutions and long term ones. Thr short ones will help in arresting this issue untill a more permanent solution arrives to completely mitigate it. The short term solutions which I feel are: Clear the drains and rivers so that they can carry more water. Stop dumping our wastes into them and keep them clean. Build dams and embankments to check the overflow into our lands. Save our ditches, lakes, rivers and other water bodies. We need to stop filling them at the earliest because they hold up most of the rainwater thereby checking flood. The long term solutions should need permanent or should solve this problem for the next 100 yrs until we come out with some other ways. Some of my recomendations will be To implement the river linkage scheme, so that the excess water can be sent to places where there is drought, thus being a mutual benefit. Construct something like an underground water discharge channel as its done in Tokyo, Japan. Increase the water carrying capacity of our rivers by deepening them. Dug out new canals to divert the water... If we can implement these without delays and scams, I am sure we can solve this issue... Note: I will keep updating the list whenever I come out with new ideas and I get time.
@Alpha Square changing routes of water of river like brahamputra and Ganga can be distructive. There was some talk on this some year ago but it can be done by canals but still so hard
@Alpha Square India faces a lot of water scarcity. We can do water scarcity, it not only prevent floods but also save infrastructure ( road). A lot of further consequences like foreign investment due to good infrastructure....

This problem of flood, which I consider to be a yearly disaster, has to be tackled in a totally planned manner with proper resource management. This can be done by implementing both short term solutions and long term ones. Thr short ones will help in arresting this issue untill a more permanent solution arrives to completely mitigate it.
The short term solutions which I feel are:
Clear the drains and rivers so that they can carry more water. Stop dumping our wastes into them and keep them clean.
Build dams and embankments to check the overflow into our lands.
Save our ditches, lakes, rivers and other water bodies. We need to stop filling them at the earliest because they hold up most of the rainwater thereby checking flood.
The long term solutions should need permanent or should solve this problem for the next 100 yrs until we come out with some other ways. Some of my recomendations will be
To implement the river linkage scheme, so that the excess water can be sent to places where there is drought, thus being a mutual benefit.
Construct something like an underground water discharge channel as its done in Tokyo, Japan.
Increase the water carrying capacity of our rivers by deepening them.
Dug out new canals to divert the water...
If we can implement these without delays and scams, I am sure we can solve this issue...
Note: I will keep updating the list whenever I come out with new ideas and I get time.

@Alpha Square changing routes of water of river like brahamputra and Ganga can be distructive. There was some talk on this some year ago but it can be done by canals but still so hard
@Alpha Square India faces a lot of water scarcity. We can do water scarcity, it not only prevent floods but also save infrastructure ( road). A lot of further consequences like foreign investment due to good infrastructure....

I guess you cannot be completely honest or completely dishonest. You can be honest about one thing and dishonest about other. Its not black and white. Most of the people fall in the grey area like a lot of other things in life.
