Taking out the trash immediately is a must...

I had this issue first getting into nails in my apartment. Couldn’t get the smell out even with the patio doors open. Switched to poly gel so I could still practice my application technique. Recently switched back to acrylic at my new place and bought a “manicure table” from Amazon w/ locking wheels to do my nails outside on the patio. Great video. I want to learn acrylic really bad but I’m in an apartment with a 1 year old. I can’t use it with him here. Right now I’m going to master dip powder and gel since it’s odorless And then acrylic when I get my own space

I share an apartment with someone who has asthma and allergies now, so it's been strictly gel products. But I'll be in my own place soon and I cannot wait to be all up in my monomer. I'm gonna get a cat and I'm gonna be all up in my monomer. #theamericandream I'm gonna get an air purifier too though lmao.
@@Kittlyn mind your business, Aleksandra. I have a dedicated nail room where I can close the door to keep the fumes and chemicals in and him out. My cat is happy and healthy. Worry about yourself.
I'd always hear you guys say... "If a clients nails are telling me they need gel, etc." can you please do a video on how the nails talk to you and what are they actually saying in these instances :-)
Acrylic smell has never bothered me. I do nails at home and while I never noticed the smell, I would notice it when I came home from being gone for hours. Turns out I made the mistake of using a cloth towel underneath a paper towel when I work and that towel was holding the monomer smell after I threw the paper towel away. So I stopped using that and only use a paper towel when I work. Now the smell is completely gone when I’m finished.
I use foil to put my products on. Then wrap it all up in that when finished. Then into a plastic bag & to the trash. I noticed the nail shops stuff theirs into a recycled milk jug.
Would you guys ever make a perfumed monomer? Ive used a candy scented monomer system (still has that monomer smell too) and that has work pretty good on my nails but it is not as strong as y.n. acrylic system which did make filing them easier lol
When I first started my ex would complain well I fixed that divorced him!! Now I remarried and no complaints I use a trash bag throw I all in there and spray my area and no problem
Hi YN I found a neutralizer on Amazon and was wondering if I use it would it mess up the quality of the monomer .. should I put neutralizer in the monomer bottle
So with me, I live in the mid west, and I stay in a basement apartment..... I do have a window I can open, but when it's hot or cold out, it effects the setting of the monomer..... Is there an easier way to deal with that problem without getting a ventilation system?
I go outdoors under a canopy because the smell is too strong to use in the house. No matter how many windows and doors I have open, the monomer, brush cleaner and acetone are too strong to use in doors in my home. It lingers for days. I have to keep the brushes I use outside to air out as well. It's a total bummer, the smell😷
This video really helped! My in laws hate the smell but I want to be able to still do nails! I bought an air filter in hope it helps and cross ventilation combined. 😭😩
Im 100% gel. I rent a suite alone and I do not have windows what soever so I have no option for cross breeze. My clients LOVE that i don't smell like an acrylic salon.
I’m trying glam and glits monomer right now and the smell is horrible! I’m ordering a reversal air flow window fan and thinking about trying an air purifier. I currently use a closed trash can open my front door light a candle and turn on the fan point it out the door it worked with the YN but this glam and glits is STRONG
I will use Tracys idea with ziplock bag. Because I’m still trying to learn it takes longer and my kids are running me crazy about the smell so I just quit.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Could you give some options for a nail tech student who needs to practice acrylic in her tiny NY studio. I have only 1 window. Could you recommend a model of hepa/charcoal unit well more than one. Lower cost, mid cost, higher cost? Please?!
I work in a small nail salon in the mall where there are no windows. So I can’t do acrylics for my clients. And I would love to practice more of the acrylics at home but it’s also hard to do it since my house is small and live with family and they hate the smell even with the windows open. So i don’t know.
Such a good subject, nobody in my home is even bothered by the smell thank God, I secretly love the smell 🤣, my husband is not bothered whatsoever I do my nails or my daughters, I have 3 of them all the time right next to him.. I will say a young girl I knew was trying to pick up doing nails for a living and quit because when I went over although she was outside room working the minute someone opened the door all you would hear is screams from the mom and step sister, close the door, that smell, and I was like omg girl how do you work like that!! My brush would fly off my hand or file if someone was screaming like that at me while doing nails
We always recommend working in a well ventilated area. If you are working in a salon, there needs to be some kind of air exchange or vent. If you are doing your own nails at home and are unable to open windows, the best option is to turn on any bathroom or kitchen exhaust fans to help vent the air. It can also help to use an air purifier, but ventilation is the best option.
Originally, I wanted to use a Diaper Genie, or they have one for cats too, but its pricey. If you have small kids and happen to have one, you're good to go (my babies are all grown). I think it would work great. Throw everything in, it twists and ties it up, empty when full, no odor! I suppose I could get one second hand, but for now I use the individual little plastic bags for diapers (also used for pets). Hang it on a hook off my table, everything goes in there during service, then tie it up and throw it out. 50 in box at the dollar store; colors in diaper aisle, black in pet aisle.
In school, I found a public available well known company, acrylic kit. It included a small vial of green apple scent to add a couple drops to the monomer. We were suppose to test out using odorless, but I didn't know that. My instructor didn't know I was using regular monomer with an added oil. When I found out I had done it wrong and told her, she was almost upset with me for admitting it. I had no problem redoing my work with the proper product and "passing" again. It is just still funny people right next to me couldn't tell it was regular. Will this be the next "great" product from YN? Monomer scent additives?
Since working with acrylic over the past few weeks I’ve had a terrible sore throat and my asthma has severely got worse 😟. I really love working with acrylic but my throat is so sore from doing one Infill this evening 🥺. Is this normal for a new student tech? The smell doesn’t bother me but maybe it’s the vapour?
My husband always complains about the oder, He's like put a mask on ,(done,)open window (done) How can you stand the smell🤔, it doesn't bother me... Like Stacey, says cover things up, throw out garbage..all I have is a little space in my room ,I do what I can... tysmfs 😉 you guys Rock!!!
We would recommend soaking as much out of the carpet as possible to start. If it has already dried, you can try using a detergent/laundry soap and water to scrub as much of it as possible. Rinse with clean water and again try to absorb as much of the liquid out as possible. Using a high suction carpet cleaner may also help, as this may be able to pull out more of the moisture/chemical. After cleaning, if you still notice the smell, you may just have to let it evaporate.
I tell everyone to use YN but warn against the monomer. It’s the strongest I’ve ever smelled. I’ve only used it twice. I’m going to start doing my nails outside it so bad.
Definitely trying to use ventilation is the biggest priority (turn on exhaust fans in the bathroom/kitchen etc if you're working from home), but if this still isn't working, keeping your monomer sealed is going to be crucial. When you aren't using the bottle, keep it sealed in a ziplock bag (maybe even double bag). As you are working, use the dampen dish with the cork. This way when you are finished, you can put the cork in and it will seal the smell inside. Also put your table towels that you've wiped your brush on in a ziplock bag and then into a covered trash bin if you can't bring them out to the trash right away. If all of these tricks don't help, you can purchase an air purifier or filter to clean out the air.
Don't huff the monimor? Whaaaat? Doesn't that help with creativity? Just KIDDING! I Like the smell of the monimor also. Hubby not so much. I point a fan at him and sit behind him at a table, he doesn't notice any smell until he sees 👀 my stuff out. I tried plastic wrap over monimor, like Tracy said a cork works great. monimor evaporates when left uncovered, correct? Does it break down while evaporating?
Hahah right!? Yes it's an acquired smell, and people get used to it. It does evaporate! That's why it good to use in small amounts and keep it in an air tight container like bottle.
I think what someone needs to figure out is how to get rid of monomer smell in a nail salon but keep cold air inside. I have read and read chat boards watched so many videos and it's the same crap over and over. Anyone that says there is no smell and it doesn't bother them is full of crap and they don't do nails for a living or they aren't human. My partner is a nail tech and is always having problems with headaches and nose bleeds and it bothers me that I haven't found a solution yet. The only thing I have came up with that would never work is if she wore a gas mask 1. open a window or door.. yeah yeah tried that but it gets shut after about 5 minutes because doors and windows need to be shut if you like air Conditioning when it is over 80 degrees outside. I even have an exhaust fan in the back of the shop and my air conditioning can not keep up and my electric bill was 600 dollars one month while running it 2. Buy an air purifier... yeah tried that too spent like over 1000 dollars on a aerovex whisper piece of garbage smell still there doesn't help. Very little information on different types of ventilation machienes most of them have wheels and are portable and alot of them only capture dust not monomer smell. I honestly don't know what to do I have spent so much time trying to find something that will work and I have zero results if there is anyone that has some kind of idea for me I don't know what else to do. I've spent a crap ton of money on power bills trying to remove air from salon and over a 1000 on machiene I've bought candles I've put all monomer in bottles with narrow spouts that close when not being used I could really use someone's help

I don’t mind it or even notice it that much honestly. My boyfriend also has next to no sense of smell. But we live in an apartment and I’ll be doing them in the bedroom, and he’ll smell it the second he opens the apartment door lol.
I can turn a fan on & I don’t smell it .. but my husband and family are forever bitching about the monomer.. my husband threw me out of our bedroom where I was learning to do nails years ago.. but if you can get an exhaust fan & put them in your windows that’ll do the trick…

Can't be good breathing in those chemicals all day. Stopped doing nails when I fell pregnant 25 years ago as gel wasn't really available. It's not about liking the smell it's how bad is it for you?

I'd always hear you guys say... "If a clients nails are telling me they need gel, etc." can you please do a video on how the nails talk to you and what are they actually saying in these instances :-)
That's such a great idea!! Thank you!
Can we still get this?! @youngnailsinc
Have we gotten any videos on this topic yet !?!? @@youngnailsinc
Oh that's a great idea, no cloth! Really the less monomer that can be kept around the lower the odor/smell.
I use foil to put my products on. Then wrap it all up in that when finished. Then into a plastic bag & to the trash. I noticed the nail shops stuff theirs into a recycled milk jug.
That's a great way to contain it.
I do my nails @ home & had to go all gel. Love ur guys' gels, they are amazing! & bonus...no stinky house!
That's true!! So many alternatives to control odor.
Would you guys ever make a perfumed monomer? Ive used a candy scented monomer system (still has that monomer smell too) and that has work pretty good on my nails but it is not as strong as y.n. acrylic system which did make filing them easier lol
WOAH! The tea & shade towards Greg 😂😂😂😂 You all are victims & the perpetrators don’t lie! 😆 I love y’all! Thank you for the video ♥️
When I first started my ex would complain well I fixed that divorced him!! Now I remarried and no complaints I use a trash bag throw I all in there and spray my area and no problem
What do you use as a spray?
As a hairdresser yes perm smells way worse then acrylic lol
Hi YN I found a neutralizer on Amazon and was wondering if I use it would it mess up the quality of the monomer .. should I put neutralizer in the monomer bottle
I've wondered about this as well @youngnailsinc
I use an oil diffuser, works well, and I try not to over saturate my table towel..and have a lid on monomer container
Neutralize it with a nice smell, that's smart.
Hello do you neutralize the whole bottle of monomer before you use it ?
Im 100% gel. I rent a suite alone and I do not have windows what soever so I have no option for cross breeze. My clients LOVE that i don't smell like an acrylic salon.
Gel is so great, and a good option!
Great ideas!
Have you guys ever tried suzie’s no odour monomer? From nail career education. Supposed to be like a slow setting made for beginners
Can you do a podcast on acrylic and gel allergies? I recently got my license and I’m allergic to both even if I wear gloves.
That's a great subject will definitely look into it! Thank you for the suggestion.
I will use Tracys idea with ziplock bag. Because I’m still trying to learn it takes longer and my kids are running me crazy about the smell so I just quit.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes its great at containing the smell! Oh gotta love the kids! 😂😂😂
Love you guys Habib leave Greg alone he’s awesome.
😂😂 We love you too
Would an air purifier work good for a nail room?
Could you give some options for a nail tech student who needs to practice acrylic in her tiny NY studio. I have only 1 window. Could you recommend a model of hepa/charcoal unit well more than one. Lower cost, mid cost, higher cost? Please?!
I work in a small nail salon in the mall where there are no windows. So I can’t do acrylics for my clients. And I would love to practice more of the acrylics at home but it’s also hard to do it since my house is small and live with family and they hate the smell even with the windows open. So i don’t know.
Yes its difficult but being thoughtful of how to control where the liquid is covers, containment, ventilation some fans really help when you combo it!
😂😂 Great story, love it!
You can also put the tissues in an empty water bottles or any empty bottles you need to throw
🤔 I've been wondering what I'm going to do this winter since I live in North Dakota and my windows freeze shut. Might need to go to gel. 🤔
That's an alternative, with less/no odor/smell.
Plus a reason to learn some new gel techniques 😉
Yas! Learning new skills is a good thing!
Is the YN Dust collector no longer available??
Our dust collector is available right now.
www.youngnails.com/products/nail-dust-collector
And if one of the reason to use acrylic, is to strengthen a super thin and weak nail, then you can use the slick pour.
What if it's freezing -20C (-4F) outside? It makes it impossiple to open windows
@youngnailsinc Thank you a lot!!! ❤️ Subscribed :)
What do you think of Aerovex system?
Unfortunately, we can't speak on other products as we do not test them.
They say it does affect your respiratory system
I'm totally new to doing my nails and my poly gel nails keep popping off. How do I stop this...
When will the dust collector be available m
No dates yet...stay tuned though.
Skip on 4:30
I’m a weirdo, I love the smell of monomer LOL but I’ve only learned to use gel, so that’s my go-to.
Lol, Gel is great!
My husband always complains about the oder,
He's like put a mask on ,(done,)open window (done)
How can you stand the smell🤔, it doesn't bother me...
Like Stacey, says cover things up, throw out garbage..all I have is a little space in my room ,I do what I can... tysmfs 😉 you guys Rock!!!
You rock!! Yes every little trick adds up and helps control the odor
Wished there was a good odorless monomer that didn't turn yellow 😭😣.... Gel it is
Yes the dream! Gel is a great alternative!
How do you get rid of your used monomer?
Soak it up with your table towel & throw away in a sealed trash can. Do not pour down the drain.
What is gel, like gel polish, polygel, matrix gel? Lol sorry I'm a beginner some fill me in
I did my own nails. And had to stop because of the smell. I don’t have proper ventilation in my house
What if I spill Monomer on my carpet how do I get ride of the smell or does it evaporate?
We would recommend soaking as much out of the carpet as possible to start. If it has already dried, you can try using a detergent/laundry soap and water to scrub as much of it as possible. Rinse with clean water and again try to absorb as much of the liquid out as possible. Using a high suction carpet cleaner may also help, as this may be able to pull out more of the moisture/chemical. After cleaning, if you still notice the smell, you may just have to let it evaporate.
@@youngnailsinc thank you so much!
Canada please for the nail dust collector ? 💙💙 Thank you for the video 💙
Stay tuned 😉
I luv the smell too
Smells like....
@@youngnailsinc money 💰
I buy odorless monomer by Planet nails, South Africa. 250.ml R250.( Don't know the dollars)
❤️💖
I love the smell as well! Don't knock it LOL!
Love you guys, but don't mess with my Greg!!!😘
💖😂
I have to work outside when I do acrylic on myself. I do gel on other people as a result xD
The only thing I have came up with that would never work is if she wore a gas mask
1. open a window or door.. yeah yeah tried that but it gets shut after about 5 minutes because doors and windows need to be shut if you like air Conditioning when it is over 80 degrees outside. I even have an exhaust fan in the back of the shop and my air conditioning can not keep up and my electric bill was 600 dollars one month while running it
Wish you guys delivered to Canada on your website ... its always sold out on amazo. 🥺
Unfortunately, as amazon is a distributor of ours, they make the decisions on when to place orders for more products.
You can contact our customer service team to place orders as well.
A clients husband was complaining about the "Fumes" (monomer). So that's why I'm here for a solution .¯\_༼ •́ ͜ʖ •̀ ༽_/*find a ventilation system with a fresh linen breeze scent .
I don’t mind it or even notice it that much honestly. My boyfriend also has next to no sense of smell. But we live in an apartment and I’ll be doing them in the bedroom, and he’ll smell it the second he opens the apartment door lol.
😂😂 Definitely ventilate
YoungNailsInc no worries as I can’t seem to get the ratio correct lol I gave up😅
I can turn a fan on & I don’t smell it .. but my husband and family are forever bitching about the monomer.. my husband threw me out of our bedroom where I was learning to do nails years ago.. but if you can get an exhaust fan & put them in your windows that’ll do the trick…
Susie- nail career eduction- UA-camr in Canada is selling orderless monomer .. check it out..

How is this when possible that acrylic nail application has been going on for hundreds of years and nobody has come up with a safe product.
All of our products are FDA approved for safe use on nails.
Lol my guy bitches about the smell but he’s a mechanic and plays with things like carb cleaner and gasoline all day ... like WTH?? 🤣

Hey
once my brothers see me pull out nail supplies they start complaining it stinks 😒😭
Hi 👋

That's right girl! Get ur money 🤑 😆👍

That's a great system! Sounds like perfect set up for no smell!

I love the smell of monomer😁
😁 ❤️💖
Can't be good breathing in those chemicals all day. Stopped doing nails when I fell pregnant 25 years ago as gel wasn't really available. It's not about liking the smell it's how bad is it for you?
Definitely trying to use ventilation is the biggest priority (turn on exhaust fans in the bathroom/kitchen etc if you're working from home), but if this still isn't working, keeping your monomer sealed is going to be crucial. Hahaha 😂 your right Tracy it smells like Money$$$$.... most my clients love the smell! And I feel like your monomer really isn’t that strong smelling.
Yes it doe$!! 😁
