In this video, I show you how to make a 3.5MM to RCA Adapter lead to interface anything with a 3.5mm output to the AUX Inputs of a Vintage Amplifier/Receiver etc. Yeah, you could buy one but where's the fun in that???
    Here's the link I mentioned:

Instead of cutting off the extra blue and white wires, you could have simply divided the four wires into 2 pairs. hence no un-utilization of wires inside the black cable.

A single conductor is all that's necessary in this application. I was using shielded van damme microphone cable hence the extra conductors.

Much better than the "one hung low" ebay items. Nice video George.

It came out well Fred. I always prefer to make rather than buy off the pg. The quality especially of some eBay stuff is pure rubbish.

Nice "How To" video there George. Typically, a good home made set of cables will be better quality than most items we buy online or in a store. We just need to use quality tips and wires. You'll get many years of good service out of this audio lead.

Hi Andy, Thanks for the comment. You know me, I like to make stuff rather than buy it. Yes, a handy little lead indeed. Hope all is good in NL

How come you didn't just use the 2 blue wires together for the ground, and then the 2 white wires for left and right...
    Or something of that sort.
    Nice job.

Was just keeping it simple. As most would be using a 3 conductor cable.

Hey George, that info you described in the link sounds very interesting and useful. Do you happen to have another link? The one included in the original post is gone - 404 error

    Hi George,
Hope you doing well.. Im starting out wit DIY stuff and your videos are quite inspiring!
Wanted to check how to make a balanced headphone cable having one 2.5mm TRRS male jack at one end connecting to dual/2 3.5mm TRS plugs each plug connecting to Left and Right speakers/ headphone driver. Ive seen schematics that show the 2.5m TRRS plus has L+ (tip), L- (Ring1), R+ (Ring2), R- (Sleeve). Can do the continuity test on the 2.5mm TRRS, but unsure about the grounds and connections to the 3.5mm TRS plugs
    Some questions:
    1. Im not sure how and where the ground wires get connected on either the 2.5mm TRRS and 3.5 mm TRS jacks?
    2. How do i connect the L+ and L- from the 2.5mm TRRS on the 3.5mm TRS on the headphone jacks?
    3. If i connect the L+ and L- wires to Tip and Ring on one of the 3.5mm TRS plugs, will it work? Assuming same will work on Right side plug as well?
    4. Does it mean neither plugs have a ground connection?
    Appreciate your answers!
    Thanks!

You'll at thebubtersectionnwjere you're going to the 3 5mm plugs, have to split the ground coming from the trrs end. Send me a mail to irishcustomradios@gmail.com and I'll send you a diagram that's easy to follow

Will this work for tv data? Have an analog mini tv that has a 3.5mm antenna input. But i need a converter to pick up digital signals.

i have speakers with AUX 3.5 mm RCA..how can i plug them to my pc? there are 6 holes: mic, L-out, L-in, SS-Out, CS-Out, RS-Out

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO  3 роки тому

I'm not sure man, Id have to see it. But I doubt the PC's sound card will drive them anyway. Best way to go would be from the PC to an audio amp/receiver etc and then on to your speakers.

Your pc has a 7.1 out put. If you are using stereo speakers use the L-Out.

Very true John, an 8 buck cable that the seller paid 50 cents for in China.

@@GeorgeEI7KO hey mine is made in Taiwan for 55 cents…..Lol. If I had the patience and dexterity I would attempt your method but I could see myself cursing after I screwed it up😱
Question though: would this type of cable work running the 35 mm jack from an iPhone to the left and right rca ports on an old 8 track recorder? I’m getting into the lost audio format of 8 tracks and want to make my own by recording songs from UA-cam.
