I can tell that you are a very secure young person….One thing I have always noticed is that most cab wrappers go to many lengths to hide from the viewer how the back is done, or you are told never to share the back. Thank you so much for sharing with beginners what the back is all about!, I have become a follower, even though I have been wrapping for years, because I believe you can teach me a thing or two. Look forward to all those videos you will be posting. FYI, you have lovely hands!!. 🙏🏼
I am so happy to see someone who doesn't finish with "curly cues" (I don't know the technical term). IMO, nothing ruins a beautifully wrapped piece more than a series of curls and coils all over the place. I love how clean, elegant and hip your designs are.
@@MithrilArtsandJewelry Very rarely, though. And you don't get carried away with it. Some people love that look. I am a minimalist when it comes to the tendrils. You are very talented. How long have you been doing wire work? Do you also do some bench work? (soldering, sawing, etc..)
This tutorial is AWEsome. I see so many untidy backs in bezel tutorials and yours are such a delight to the eyes! I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how to make the back as sweet as the front and lo! I stumble across your tutorial. THANK you. I really enjoyed listening to you share all your tips and tricks and how thoroughly you performed the tutorial. Well done!
You are so awesome. You talk about and teach us things no other artist bothers about and to me the back COUNTS. This is one thing that kind of holds me back from really working hard to sell. I'm a perfectionist and also tend to over think. I figure if I wouldn't wear something because of a messy confused back no one will. Kinda looks like you gave up halfway or tired out at the end so you did just what ever worked. You know I say if artist won't show the back it's a mess. Anyway thanks so much and as I said glad I found you and keep your beautiful work coming!!!❤❤🙏😊➿➿➿➿➿➿

thank you so much for sharing this! indeed you're the first one I've found that's talking about the backs! most of the tutorials don't really show them, or when they do, they're "if you follow this tutorial and post pictures, please do not show the back"! ^^; Even if I only have round and soft 0.4 and 0.8 mm wire, I'll try to follow your instructions. I'm only begining after all! i like the second method the most.
Thank you so much for this informative video! I'm just starting my jewelry making journey, and i have two cabs that i want to wire wrap. I've subscribed to your channel, and am looking forward to watching more of your videos. You are extremely talented, and this is a tutorial that was missing on youtube IMO 💜
I know this is three years old but thank you so much for sharing that full start to finish wrap! I’ve only ever used round wire and always find ways to make it work. I e wanted to make a piece similar to this but didn’t really know how to go about it and after watching this I’m confident I can pull off a variation of it with round wire thanks again!
This is good!! Sometimes I end up with a design I like but then the stone ends up not being secure in the back, so this is a great solution!! Thanks so much!! Keep your videos coming! I really enjoy watching them and trying to apply them to what I'm doing.😁👍💞
When you filmed this, how long were you doing this for? The level of quality and the difference in craftsmanship between your early pieces and to the point of this video is astounding! My wire wrapping front and back look like the old backs you did. Come to find out, I was using the wrong wire this whole time and likely the reason I gave up on trying to wire wrap anything. But today, I received some square 18g wire and some square 26g wire and I can ALREADY tell that there is a MASSIVE difference! So that being said, I can’t wait to be your student this weekend! Thank you for taking the time to explain such a critical part of making a fine piece of jewelry! You are so very appreciated!!!! ❤
This is great! I'm getting the sense that when making my own designs, I should be thinking about the stone, the frame, the back, and the front. Is that how it works?
This was literally the video I was looking for!! I've been wondering how people made the back of a pendant, thank you very much🤍 greetings from Chile🇨🇱
These frames open up a whole new world of pendant making for me! Would you please provide an estimate of how much space you leave between the widest part of your stone and the INNER part of the frame? Thanks!
I don't have exact measurements but If you are planning to wrap the frame, you should at least leave a gap in between the stone and frame. If you can fit an 18 or 20 GA in between the gaps on each side, then it will be perfect.
Since this is a beginner tutorial, need more information on how to determine length of wires to use. Also, speed is higher when tucking in wires. I'm trying to learn and it's going a little fast for me to see how to tuck. Thanks for tutorial.
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't include the length of wires because it will depend on the size of your stone. It will be totally up to you. This is just a guide on how to create frames and backs. And for the speed, there's an option on UA-cam to slow it down. Look for it on the options/settings to 0.25 speed. Hope that helps and thank you for watching! :)
@@MithrilArtsandJewelry But is there a formula or some pointers on how to determine a minimum length or a range of wire to use....I don't know where to begin...like circumference of stone plus X inches... something like that. Thanks for tip about slowing down video speed. Was not aware of that.
@@debs5477 I'm sorry but I don't like math. 😅 So no, I don't have a formula. I just go with my instincts and it turns out ok. Sometimes I practice it as well of course.
I don’t see in the drop down a list of materials (wires and their gauges). Can you list them? That way it’s not necessary to replay the whole video to reference back. Thanks so much.
New subscriber here you are so very talented wow amazing work I am in to a little wire and beads but no where near this I don't have square wire now at the moment could I do this with regular wire I'm not sure bc you have to tuck some peices I'd love to try a few of these thank you for sharing and I love your works it's so very beautiful ❣️
Hi! I don't really have an exact answer for that as it will really depend on the stones that you use and the size of your frame. So far, what works for me is drawing the design as close to the size of the actual piece. From there I can gauge how long my wires will be. Also I work in sections most of the time so I don't really use long wires. Try to experiment and see what works for you. Good luck!
You're most welcome! For me, it will be easier to use half hard for this type of frame especially if you're a beginner. Because if you use dead soft, chances are you'll be tugging the wires more around it which results to warping. 16 and 18 ga half hard are a good place to start. Good luck!
Thank you very much! Great tutorial! I have a question. At what point do you hammer your frames? Before you shape the frame? After you shape the frame? Thank you!
Hey I have a question: I kind of started wire wrapping. But now I’m wondering where you buy the stones😊 maybe it’s different since I live in the Netherlands but I can’t really find a shop where it’s affordable.

may i ask, why do some wrappers go to many lengths to hide how the back is made?
@@0cmarie it is their 'signature', or their 'secret' ... if you know how to make the back, you will figure out how to make their piece, and copy it.
