In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create this adorable, little round pendant using a 12 mm cabochon and 2 different gauges of wire.
So, let's get started!
............................................................
For materials and tools, you’re going to need:
A Ruler
(X3) 6” segments of 20 gauge round wire
28 gauge round wire for weave
A 12mm round cabochon
Chain Nose Pliers
Round nose Pliers
Flush Cutters
It's not necessary, I recommend having a pair of flat nose pliers as well.

@@LindaMartin-gi7hq This IS a free tutorial. ?? lol Thank you Ellie, you are a blessing. I appreciate all the time and hard work you give to us. I will support you every moment I can so we can continue to be blessed with your support.
Thanks for making this, it's what YT has always been about for me. Finding videos that teach me things. I was able to make my second ever piece of jewelry using this video. Very cool, thanks.
That's so awesome! I'm glad the video helped you.
Choose playback speed 0.75 in settings. Good little tutorial!
Thanks! 😊
Your too quick for a beginner you need to slow down I’ve never done it before
Turn the speed down in settings in the top right. We’re 3 days into 2024. We’re focusing on solutions this year.
@@FollowAccountgreat suggestion!
Or just pause it until you're ready to move forward lol
You have full control of the playback speed and can navigate the video at will. You aren't going to be able to keep up, it's not a paint along. You have to watch, try and absorb the information, try it on your own and check when something goes wrong or you feel lost. That's just how tutorials work.
You have excellent presentation skills. Very impressed! I'm following your lessons!
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that!
Great video. I enjoyed seeing your skills and listening to the explanation on each step :)
Yay! I’m so glad to hear that!!
SO CUTE!!!. I love it, thank you Ellie. Look forward to the next one!!. ♥️
Aww, thanks so much!
The 20 gauge wire I bought from artistic wire looks way thinner than yours ? What brand do you recommend ? Thx !!
I usually use raw copper wire. I get them from craftwireusa.com or riogrande.com. If you're looking for a quality plated wire, I suggest the Parawire brand. Hope that helps!
LOVE this simple yet interesting design! Also, this is a very clear/easy to follow tutorial. Thanks! ❣
You are so welcome! So glad you liked it!
Thanks!
You're welcome! Thank you!
Elaborate yet graceful. This gives me something to work toward once I get a feel for the wire and tools. Thank you!
I'm glad you like it!
I used a marble and followed along! Love it! Now on to cabs!!!😊
Wonderful! Best of luck on your future pieces!
Precioso mini dije ❤
The main issue I'm having is wrapping my wires tight without bending wires 😖 your tutorials are amazing tho! I just started my journey and I'm diving into a few of these. Bought some supplies to practice with to get used to handling copper wire 😄
It takes a bit of time to get used to tension, but once you get it, it becomes so much more enjoyable! lol. I'm glad that the tutorials are helpful! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out anytime! :)
@@ellieshandcrafted thank you! It wasn't till after I was done and I compared my curves to what you did that made me realize where I was struggling, lol. I kinda got it down using a little clamp. Started making a second one with silver wire this time 😁
Would love to purchase this in PDF, but do not see it in your shop.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a PDF tutorial for this particular pendant. This would probably be the closest to this design: ellieshandcraftedjewelry.com/products/fall-leaf-pendant-tutorial. But you can change the accents over the bail and do more swoops instead of weaving the leaves. :)
I'll try something like that with silver and my first ever cut amethyst....wish me luck😅
Best of luck to you!! 🥰
@@ellieshandcrafted thank you😊
@@ellieshandcrafted done...for the first time it is not that bad
Heya, thanks for the tutorial. I have a question for you though. Won’t the ends of the wire where you snapped or cut them off be sharp for the person wearing the piece of jewellery? Is there any way to prevent this?
They can be. With the "pull and twist" method, the "cut" is usually in between the wires, so they don't stick out. It's one of the reasons I prefer it over using flush cutters for areas where it's hard to tuck in the wire. If you do have a sharp end, you can soften it with sand paper. (Assuming you're using a solid, and not plated wire.) Hope that makes sense. :)
@@ellieshandcrafted it does, thank you so much!
@@Shruti_Vijayakrishna You're welcome! :)
it looks so easy when you do it. great work
Thanks so much 😊
Hey! Great video :) How did u give the pendant that old-looking?
Glad you liked it! I use a liver of sulfur gel solution to darken my pieces. I actually made a video of the process. Here it is! ☺️ How to Use Liver of Sulfur to Darken Your Copper Jewelry

@@ellieshandcrafted You are great! Thanks a lot :)
Beautiful pendant, thank you Elli x❤
Of course!!
This is such a gorgeous little pendant 😍
Thank you!
Thank you so much! I always thought wire wrapping looked so difficult, but you did a really good job explaining and I appreciate it
I'm soo happy to hear that! If you ever have questions, let me know!
Thanks for making this well explained tutorial video. I’ll give this style a try as soon as I’m done making my new cabs
I'm so glad to hear that! Have fun!
❤❤
Beautiful creations. What do you use to make the "tinted" look on the wire that makes it look antique?
I use a solution called “liver of sulfur” to age the metal and then polish it with pro-polishing pads to shine it up. I hope that helps. ☺️
Super cute and easy, I'm not a beginner but I love your videos. I've also used this on a small oval.❤
I'm so happy to hear that! That sounds adorable! Thank you for sharing!
Love your ideas. The teach was perfect for me. Thank you!
You’re welcome. ☺️
This is great. your explanations are fabulous.
Thanks so much! I'm so glad to hear it! :)
Another name for the weave used on the bail is a ladder weave.
Thanks so much!!
Do you have another video on using round wires without weaving? That to me looks so difficult. Sorry. But this is a great tutorial. Thanks. I only have round wire and don’t know if that makes a big difference from flat wires from other tutorials I have seen. For this video instead of weaving can I wrap around?
You could probably wrap all the wires together. I usually prefer to weave because it keeps the wires from bunching. I know of other artists who do just wrap the base wires with thin weaving wire and it looks just fine. ☺️
@@ellieshandcrafted thanks I am so new to this and have not done one yet, but will do one tomorrow. All the videos I have seen use flat wires. Unfortunately I bought round wire because I did not know if it mattered. Thanks for your help.
@@mywifetheartist That is really common for wrapped styles. Although, I didn't have much luck with square and half-round when I first started... Too much twisting. lol. I'm glad I was able to help!
Let's go !!!
Beautiful design ❤ do you use dead soft copper wire for both gauges of wire?
Thanks! Yes I do! ☺️

Thanks it's so cute!
Aww, thanks!
Beautiful pendant and EXCELLENT tutorial! Thanks so much! Would it work using square instead of round wires?
Thanks again for all you do!! ❤️
Beautiful
Thank you!
Beautifull ❤
Thank you, Anders!
Great tutorial. I just wished that bail was straightened before the ornamental parts were placed.
You do such a good job most of the time. I would like you to edit your videos with your hands and piece all of the time in frame.
Thanks so much for this, it's so helpful in the learning process just getting started in conceptualizing designs!! 🩵🩵🩵🩵🦋💍🙏🏼🫶
