They ran hot. The ones i saw cracked had cronic coolant leaks at the water pump and plastic water outlet, causing low coolant and a cooling system unable to hold pressure, the engine gets hotter especially if its run like this repeatedly while putting off repairs.
@@Nova.1971 ok it's not giving me any reason why the the weather pack connector fails but it appears to be a common issue so your on the right track, just replace the connector and you should be good to go
@@garythegear Thanks Gary it's car guys like you that help out and make this hobby fun. I appreciate the time you took to look this up. Once again a big Thank-you......Cheers Mike
@@Nova.1971 hey no worries Mike it only takes a second to look it up , most shops have software programs they use , we have both pro demand and identifix here and there extremely helpful in diagnosing issues, I just didn't want to see your new connector burn also, sometimes electrical issues on these new cars are the worst , makes us appreciate our old rides don't it , take care
I DROVE 40 MILES , THE ENGINE WAS EXTREMELY HOT, BUT THE FAN WASN'T ON. DESPITE THE TEMP. ,THE CAR'S DRIVEABILITY WAS GREAT. I WAS WONDERING IF THIS IS NORMAL? . ALSO, I WAITED AT LEAST 30 MINUTES & THE FAN WASN'T HEARD. AFTERWARDS, I FINISHED MY DRIVE HOME ANOTHER 50 MILES - SAME SITUATION. SCAN TOOL SHOWED ECT 203F / IAT 113F (AMBIENT @ 65F)
Sir, excellent video. Thank you!
Pretty lucky. Most sonic/cruze overheating problems i saw when i worked at the dealership were cracked heads or blown head gaskets.
Good job!
WHAT CAUSED THEM TO CRACK???

Nice work brother!
Is it difficult to remove the wires from the old connector over to the new connector?
Hey bud good job finding that burnt weatherpack connector, what year is that sonic I could check at work if there's any listing for possible cause
Thanks Gary it’s a 2015 1.8 non turbo.

If you are on the highway the fan may never start, but in hotter days and stop and go traffic it should.
I have the opposite problem, my sonic can’t get warm so I only get a few seconds of warm air from the heater. Winter is going to suck.
I would check for a thermostat problem.....
BLEND DOORS NOT ALLOWING HEAT INTO CABIN AREA???
It was a company vehicle for advance auto parts. I don’t even work there anymore so I haven’t driven that car in over a year anyway.
I need that exact pigtail too!
Do you happen to know the part number for it ?
This the link to the part I got but only one www.amazon.com/Female-Metri-Pack-Housings-Sealed-12124685/dp/B01F7S5L6W

Oh ok thanks, but what did you mean by only one ?
I think I just need that one anyway
@@adrian7272 I think that is the link to a package of five, i can't remember the exact link for one only.
@@Nova.1971 Oh I see what you mean, yea but I got the part number from the link and can look for a pack one 1!
Would over hearing cause the power steering to go out?
I would not think so as it’s a different system.
