    Thanks Pete you solved the exact question I needed the answer for , to turn down a over noisey GPX4500 on a hot spot of noise . Need and used the Coil RX Cancel on a old crushed tobacco tin in a hole .👍 And a silent 4500 with the other settings . thanks again Pete .

      That's great you got something out of that video, just don't forget to get it back out of cancel, it really kills mono coils. I alway run in enhanced, hurts the depth a little but they run quiet in hot ground. Cheers mate and thanks for watching.

    Hi Pete. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I have a GPX 4500 but haven't used it a lot but with your advice, and settings, I can't wait to give it a go. I also have the small saddie coil. Do you use different settings for that coil, or the same? Hopefully I will see you out in the Victorian goldfields one day. All the best.

      Glad you enjoyed it and got something out of the video, hopefully some confidence in your setup also. I don't mess around with my settings a lot, mostly the RX gain and the stabiliser depending on how hot the ground is or any atomspheric interference that might be around. Watch my latest video that just came out, It was a session using the Sadie coil. Good luck and happy hunting.

      Thanks mate, it's been a really long time since I've seen a 4000. Set it up as close to the 4500 setting i had on the video, I would like to tell you more but it's been so long. Play around with the settings, you just need it to run stable with a nice threshold and listen for the changes in tone. I know the 4500 ran smoother but you should be able to get it pretty stable. Hope this helps.
      Cheers Pete

    Thanks for some clarity on the 4500 Pete, a question I have mate you are running on general, what's the difference from deep? and why? Cheers bud!

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Arron, Deep is for the use of larger coils in deeper ground, its changes the soil timing delaying the window for the receive signal and can help improve the response in more mineralized ground, it also lowers the operating frequency. It also inverts the signal enabling your to hear the deeper signal. Deep is a short cut setting, you can achieve the same result is general, but its a bit of a process. Hope this helps, do some tests on targets and compare your results.
      Other operators may have differing opinions but this is what I have learned over the years.
      Cheers, Pete

    G'day Pete, really enjoying your videos thanks. I notice with my 5000 with NF 15 Evo, all the low high signals have been trash and all gold has been high low, even nuggets up to 4 grams. It's got to the point where I'll be really hesitant to dig a low high signal, because they have all been trash...do you think it is just coincidence? cheers.

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Adam, First tip dig them all. With the 4500 if you run in enhanced gold over 2 grams will invert the signal, I believe this is the same with the 5000 and I've seen the same with the GPZ . On the back control panel check if its running in inverted, if it is it will invert all signals. Large iron target can also invert, the coin from Chewton was inverting, so goes to show dig everything. Try enhanced, its a good setting.
      Hope this helps, let me know how you go.
      Cheers, Pete

    • @adamteague462
      @adamteague462 3 роки тому

      @@PetesGoldAdventures Ok thanks Pete. I'll keep on digging them all. Back panel is definitely not on inverted. Might be just coincidence, but interestingly, small ferrous targets are also giving me a low-high signal, whereas any gold has never done that for me, always been high-low, so it feels as if my setup is doing a discrimination for me...

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Adam, Don't have your discrimination on at all turn that off if your running it now, it can discriminate iron and mask gold signals. Try running in General and Enhanced.

    Pete did you start off with the 3500 and worked your way up to the 4500 over the years? I'm yet to find my first piece yet with the Gold Monster but am wanting to get a better machine just not sure to go with a SDC 2300 or GPX 5000 what are your thoughts thanks.

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому

      Hi Daniel, I started with a Garrett Ground Hog back in the 80s, early 2000s I got back into it with an SD2000 where I found an 1860 Half Sovereign that sold for $7500 (its the one in the intro), I then bought a GP3000 with that money. I then got the GPX4500 that I still use today.
      The Monster is dynamite on small gold in quite ground, watch JB'S Prospecting video, he explains it well.
      Both the SDC2300 and GPX5000 are great machines, both work different on different ground and gold, I myself would go 4500 or 5000.
      Cheers, Pete

    What is the difference between the gpx 5000 and the gpx4500

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, There's only minor differences, the 5000 had more RX gain setting from 1 - 20 where the 4500 has 1 - 15, this was done to fine tune the setting, the 5000 has a fine gold setting for smaller gold.
      I've had my 4500 for 12 years and a mate up-graded to a 5000, he wouldn't find any more gold than I would and he has just as much experience.
      Some experienced prospectors actually prefer the 4500.
      Cheers, Pete

    In an area full of hot rocks, what is the best settings to avoid them?

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому

      Hi, If there are only scattered hot rocks just work with them and balance them out as you come across them. If the ground is hot or a lot of hot rocks you could turn down the RX gain and stabiliser one or two below factory preset. Really small and large coils and especially the Nugget Finder Evo coils can be sensitive to hot rocks, so try running a 12inch coil.
      Also balance the machines regularly, run GP 3000's and 3500's in tracking with the factory 11inch DD coil switched to mono and run the GPX series in fixed with an 11 or 12 inch mono.
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers, Pete

      @@PetesGoldAdventures thanks a lot,, appreciate your help. I am using gpx 4500 with elliptical 17 inch coiltech coil. I just tried using enhance and it worked fine .. with less depth

    • @PetesGoldAdventures
      @PetesGoldAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      I always run in enhance, I don't mess with my setting much and the 4500 runs pretty good. If you have a 12inch round or eliptical use that often, they will find the small more common gold that the 17inch might miss, sometimes its that little sub .1 that puts you onto a patch, its that little nugget that pulls you up to search an area more thorough.
