Weird… I was just watching a video a few days ago, from a science-y UA-cam channel, that decided to throw in a random cooking episode, and they mentioned Food Wars as their inspiration, saying that it was their favorite anime of all time. I did not know the exact kind of show it was at the time. But now I do… I had previously pictured something like “Cooking Master Boy”, which might turn out to be very close to reality, except that apparently, Food Wars is even more over the top in the reactions to taste testing, if that's even possible. And the tasting scenes in Cooking Master Boy are pretty silly; it's like someone decided to turn the Iron Chef competition into an anime, but the editors said it wasn't “shiny enough”, so they re-work it. It then fails to pass inspection 2 more times for the same reason, until it starts to risk not being about food anymore.
