So as an OG Star Wars fan myself, I'm super triggered by all the "Wukong" comments lol.... In all seriousness I really couldn't care less what games people are in to, we showed the performance between 6 different GPUs and y'all can do with that info whatever you want. As for Wukong, I haven't tested the game "yet" but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Serious question.... why are gamers so whiny?
I've been playing it since the 27th and I'm absolutely loving it. I'm using a Ryzen 5800X and an RX7600, it's running at medium settings due to a crash that would happen consistently when run at high, but I've had little or no artifacting and have FSR on.
I honestly can imagine a promo for this game on your channel Phil popping it head around the door jam saying "Jay... Jay... Jaaaaaaayyyyy..." and then cutting to the scene where Darth Vader's chamber opens and a distorted, crackly and heavily breathed Jay replying with "Whhhhaaat?!" before Phil says "We go work to do" followed by Nick adding "Yeah"
I have over 20 hours so far in this game, and I don’t have any of those artifacting issues at all. I have a 12700k, 7900xtx, 32gb 5200mhz ddr5, 4tb sata ssd and I play at 4k.
Start of the video "this game requires RT and will suck on older hardware, may be one of the first titles to force a hardware upgrade" End of the video "this game does very well on low end hardware, not one of those titles that will make people run out and upgrade"
It was a sponsored video but not by Ubisoft. And he was fairly critical of all the artifacting he was getting in game even on high-end cards, you usually don't see that in sponsored content. I was just confused by the change in perspective. Perhaps it's just cause I know many people that still have 10 series cards that I still consider them part of the low end, but it is 3 gens old, maybe that's just too outdated of me and "low end" now is at least 20 series with RT cores, and the 10 series are now whatever below "low end" is.
@@Jayztwocents I don't get those artifacts. First time seeing it. I run msi 4090, 7950x3d, 64gb ram and have secret settings at max in 4k. dlss performance with frame gen on. path tracing to max as well. Frames can jump up to around 80 or 90 indoors but outside in the world hovers around 60, lowest I've seen was 50.
@@theMedicatedCitizen I still play Rebellion. It's such a good game. And X-Wing Alliance has a huge graphical overhaul mod that makes it look fantastic.
Dark Forces 2 had the best gunplay in the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series for sure. Jedi Academy had the best saber combat (although Jedi Outcast was the one who massively innovated with it). You'd think it'd have the best gunplay too, but for some reason, when Raven made the transition to the idTech3 engine, they did a shit job with most of the guns.
About the artefacts and visual bugs, could really be because this game is meant to be played with the cinematic aspect ratio, saw a Daniel Owen video just few days ago, where he explains it and shows show just switching from the meant cinematic ratio to the "commom" one drops your fps like crazy, also shows you a lot less of the environment on the screen, give it a try to see if it makes any difference at all
Ok so I run the 6950xt and the 5800x3d right and I get a lot of the consistency as the 6750xt and 4060, higher fps but way more steady, honestly preferred. I do run the 1440 on high, same preset. I really want to upgrade GPU's being a PC guy but, in all honesty, the 6950xt has never let me down in a title yet. AND the 5800x3d people complain and say oh that chip is old and blah blah blah, which if they knew what they were talking about they wouldn't say that, but it has 0 problems with current titles. This is a great example of how good the "older" GPUs are. Awesome video. Drew.
I’m a Star Wars fan “dork” as well, I’m into 1/24 scale plastic model kits, I built Millennium Falcon, Snow Speeder and Luke’s X-Wing as well. I’m also trying to complete the Deagostini Millennium Falcon complete with lightning. So I know how you are passionate about Star Wars.

With Ubisoft and Massive going in on Star Wars Outlaws I took the chance on a day one purchase, and so far have not regretted buying the game day one. Runs perfectly on my laptop, happy with the game so far. Soo glad to finally see a Star Wars game NOT screwed up by EA/Dice, because they had nothing to do with Star Wars Outlaws.
I just ran across your video on SW outlaws, I have been playing since it dropped. My PC specs are ASUS x670E-E MB, AMD 7800X3D, Sapphire Nirto + RX 7900 XTX, 64 GB ram (just because I can), BeQuiet! 360 cooler with the GPU air cooled. I will say before I used the settings that you showed in the video I did get some artifacting at times. Since I used the settings I have not seen any of that and it is running very smooth. There was an update today when I logged on as well but I have not checked the notes to see what was updated in that patch. Awesome video thank you for showing us how to get better results when playing this title, awesome work and video as always. HaHa, so update the longer I played the more artificating I saw; however it did depend on the location I was in and the activity I was doing at the time. It was much like what you saw when running around in the settlements or towns.
Thank you so much! My 4080 super was only getting 80-90 fps in 1440p. After changing the settings its up in the 120-150 range. I feel much better now!!!
Greedo never used his weapon. han killed him BEFORE it could happen because han distracted him by talking to hum : - Han : "Yeah... i bet you have" BANG!
I think there is a "universal truth" that all channels should take to heart. If you engage in polarizing topic, be prepared for a certain amount of backlash. Right now, we have tons of people that actively hate AAA scene, hate Ubisoft, hate Star Wars. No matter how great of a job will Jay do, there will be substantial amount of negativity around this video. If I received a proposition to benchmark some hardware against a specific title, or to have a look at said title and record a material on it, I'd look up first if this is not a title making fuss around the internet. IMHO, no need to expose yourself to negativity cause of one title that people may actively hate on at the time.
the rtx requirement is one of the dumbest things ive heard being required for a game. like i dont really care about the game but it sets a horrible president for future games if someone cant afford hardware that can play it, like the last time i got angry about a hardware limitation was when 3.5 mm headphone jacks were removed from phones.
I kinda makes sense though. RT has been a feature on cards for years, so cards that are completely incapable of doing it are kinda dying out slowly but surely. It also makes development easier, saves time and thus money for the studios while (mostly) looking better IF the hardware can support it. Hate it all you want, it's the future of gaming at this point.
@@Kr0noZ my question then is mobile chips like zen 4 chips for AMD and Intel xe chips, will those be supported? I don't think they have rt on them and those are being used for mobile gaming, if rt is required it's going to really affect the mobile market
There's a very good reason why Han killed greedo... it's about his character at that point... and over the course of the movie/trilogy... it shows how he grows, changes and becomes a better person.
I have a 7900X3D with a Zotac 4080 Super and 64GB of 6000MT/s DDR5. I have noticed the artifacting and some funny bugs from time to time. But otherwise it runs really well.
It reminds me of a discussion about cars: a ferrari with 800hp can drive on the road but if it's limited at 130km/h it doesn't run better os as well as an average car, seems the same thing for GFX card, game is the type off road (not finished here? lol) and the GFX cards are the cars. A bit funny analogy here =) Good video as always.
Honestly one of the worst things about the internet is games releasing with bugs & most larger developers are just "oh yeah we didn't have time to sort before release, we'll patch it soon"
Worse than that are the apologists who crop up and insult you for noticing something's broken and gaslighting you into believing you're the issue. Hi Jay!!!
i7-14700k, 4070S, artifacts didn't appear on the first planet nor the snow town, but they started on Tatooine. They continued when I got to the forest planet and I'm starting to crash on the forest planet too, mostly when quick traveling. Got 38 hours before I had any problems. I am enjoying it though. Thanks for not making me panic, I've been worried my 3 month old card was faulty.
Great video, always looking for tips like this :) On my i7-13700F and RTX 4070 (12GB) 64GB RAM at 3840x2160 , 120hz (55" S90C), Locked at 30fps. So far, I got the best look and performance with Upscaler off , Ray Reconstruction Off Frame Gen off, RTX Direct Lighting Off, rest of advanced is a combination of Medium and High using the Outlaw base with Streaming Distance at 100 and Object Detail at 300 with an added graphic .cfg change ["streamer dedicated budget"] = 4096. This is also the first game I've actually left Film Grain on. The clarity and performance with these settings are very impressive in my opinion, looks and plays great! The game is so much better than the past week before launch UA-cam reviews, leads people to believe. By the way I never saw any artifacting on my machine at all. I dont have Gsync On, so maybe there is an issue with the driver too? Im on Driver 537.58.
My man ACG deemed it a "Wait for a sale" so I'm gonna wait for a sale. It seems like a good game but for $70 right at launch, I need great or excellent. Thanks for the video Jay! Appreciate your hard work!
I have a 7900 GRE on a 7800X3D. The GRE is a great card for the money and with a simple OC it runs even closer to a 4070 Ti/S. I got the X3D for $350 and the GRE for $550 in 3/24. I highly recommend the GRE.
I played about an hour of it (did NOT buy the game, just got ubisoft+ and swiftly canceled it) until it kept crashing when i went to a certain area. It did it twice, and i uninstalled it, and the ubisoft app. Not dealing with that shit

Thank you for the analysis Jay and thank you for not being one of those guys. I'm having an awesome time playing this game and I can finally say that I am excited about the story which I wasn't for a long time. I always liked the worlds Ubisoft built but I wasn't invested in the characters. Thank god that has changed with Outlaws. I really hope they'll fix the artifacts and the wonky camera movement when using the landspeeder though. Oh and maaaybe they'll even add FSR 3.1 (please). Otherwise I have 0 complaints. The reality is yes, you can afford a 1440p high refresh monitor as the prices have dropped. Now see if you can afford the GPU/CPU upgrades to play the same games you were playing at 1080p.
@@oswaldjh I've been playing games on a 1440p monitor with high refresh using a 2060, 3060, 4060 and a 6600x with no issues. They're each being used on Ryzen 5 x600x CPUs and no bottleneck. 4k on the other hand made them feel like they were using an Intel IGPU to play on a potato.
@@fatmanchew909 I have the cards you mention and consider them as 1080p, because that's what I put in family builds for that resolution. The 1440p users get a RX 6700 XT, a true 1440p card of which I have 4 models on the shelf.
it wasnt long ago 1080p as 95%, and almost all of the % lost in 1080 has gone to 1440p, so its tracking a trend. but yea, it would be cool to see specs specifically for each title on steam too at some point in the future.
It's good that more games have path tracing as an option since that will eventually lead to better implementation and hardware improvements but it's hardly worth the performance hit these days, even with the best hardware. For game settings in general, personally i have never cared too much about really high shadow quality. It has always benn one of the graphics settings i always turned down or off entirely in favor of higher framerates. Shadows have always cost a lot of performance in games
I saw it was free with a 14900k on newegg but I waited a day too late to buy and didn't get the game. Now I'm sitting here like.... did I really miss out on anything?
I’ve been a Star Wars fan ever since I saw the movies and read the Darth Bane novels, and I’m really excited to try this game when I finally get some free time. I generally don’t game that much, one of the last games I’ve played in its entirety was far cry 5. But the gameplay I’ve seen so far for Outlaws seems pretty cool. Glad to see my 6750xt should be able to handle the game.
Thank to you Jay for putting the effort in making this video, I'm watching it for you, however to answer the question in the title, I'm going to say no GPU will be needed to play this game since no one is going to play it. This is a game to be made fun of by everyone.
Using a RTX 4070 Super and so fae so good. Saw a reddit saying to change the value of "streamer dedicated" option on the game config file and that helps with artifacting. Default value is 64 and recommended value is 4096. You can go higher or lower depending on vram utilization.
Thanks for the clarification on Raytracing if you can turn it off entirely. Something that wasn't said explicitly in other reviews. This just really smashed my will to buy it.
Raytracing is required..... Kind of wonder how much did Nvidia pay the developers for that. Not touching this game at all until is less than 10$ on steam lol
...you do realize all of the current gen consoles have hardware RT support, right? Listen, I loved my 1070, but sometimes ya gotta know when to move on.
Ja this graph is WAY BETTER to visualize GPU performance than just the average, maybe an option to be used in future comparison in GPU releases? I know is way harder to plot and takes longer to test.
It was 1978, my buddy's dad in gradeschool worked at Philips R&D on VCR's. First videotape I ever watched in my life was Star Wars: A New Hope. So, also a huge SW fan here... (year of birth is in my name). My SW toys were pre-built. None of that LEGO stuff. Also a huge fan of videogames (Atari 2600 and Philips G7000 were the first consoles I played games on). From the Amiga 500 and on, I have been building/modding my own systems. Never bought a pre-built PC. (Yes, ...I am that old). 7800X3D + RX6600 (yup, the nub card) + 32GB 6000MHz memory + Winblows 10 (on M.2 drives). Running @ LOW settings. Getting 73fps average according to AMD's metrics on a 1080P freesync panel. No artifacts or weirdness (which was there in your video) P.S. I'm in the "Han shot at the right moment" group of people. Or in the "Who cares when Han shot" group.
There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for any game, new, old or otherwise to be artefacting that badly. We shouldn't have to wait for a day 1 patch (or worse a patch months after release), to fix the most obvious bugs that should have been detected prior to launch.
Nice to know my 3060 isn't a realistic gpu anymore. You know some of us would rather have oh you know utilities at our homes, food on our table, gas in the tank instead of the latest 40 series cards. And here I was excited last week to finally get a 5000 series cpu upgrade....saved for a long time. I feel so inadequate sometimes. Can barely afford my own hobby. Bit disappointing I got to say. I'm guessing my 3060 might do 45 to 50 fps....or maybe I'm dreaming even then?? Either way, I couldn't enjoy playing it like that, won't even try. Reality Bites... edit: next day. I apologize for my sarcasism, I could have said that much better and sounded less, well dumb. Despite that I got some pretty solid advice and I got a "game" plan (pun intended) and I'm going to stop being such a whiney be-ach in the future and make my points better. Sorry Jay, didn't mean to be disrespectful, I'm pretty striaght now. Geesh, the nerd in me gets so angry!
My 6950xt already feels dated. It struggles a lot in some titles. But it does not bother me anymore, since I have been playing indie and retro stuff for a long time now. Got a gamepad for my phone and replaying my favorite stuff from 3DS and PSone
@@fyrentinnimar Ok, I admit I was a bit whiney, yet I did have a point. Alot of us simply don't have the latest gpu's. I know mine will play it, but how bad would it be?? I got lucky getting this card. btw, I also had a 2070 super, I sold it to help get the 3060....not so sure it was actually worth it overall, there was some gains, but not as much as I had hoped, so ya....likely a stuttery mess as well here. Won't be downloading it not knowing either. My internet stinks..at least a 12 hr download and then I'd get charged for going over my 200 gb data cap, yay for me. Got screwed with Redfall, and got an extra 25-30 bucks on my internet bill. Ya, won't be making that mistake again. ouch!
I have tons of fun with this game, but there's a VRAM leak that needs to be fixed. After an hour or two, VRAM usage surpasses the 24GB available on my 4090. Textures get blurry and meshes look lowpoly. Turning down the settings doesn't have any effect at all.
DigitalFoundry found that on 4K max settings with DLSS performance enabled (1080p rendering) a 4090 can't push 60 fps. A 4090 can't handle 1080p max settings. Bravo, Ubisoft.
@@BobBobson the game scales and offers a huge variety of settings options; just because a game CAN overwhelm current HW does not make it badly optimized! Seriously, how are we ever going to get better looking games if everyone cries whenever something is released that pushes for graphical realism/dynamism! I’m going to play this game now and push the realism to max in 4 years when I replay with a new GPU, that is pretty awesome!

I got this game free with my 4070ti super I actually (unfortunately lol) got for 3d CAD work. I have a dozen hours into it, and didn't even see the negative reviews before starting. I get alot of hiccups in the cut scenes of all things, and some reflection artefacting mostly with the DLSS on quality. also set the vsync to always on in the nvidia control panel so I could use it with dlss concurrently. It rarely drops below 100fps on my 1440x3440 screen and where it does feels like a game problem and not a hardware problem. 1 month after release all the bugs are not fixed BUT! I have 3 kids under 6. I don't get to play much, but doing this story a half hour at a time has been fantastic fun. It is a great game. Ryzen 7 7800X3D, RX 7900 XTX, 96GB DDR 6000. I put put Medium preset and toggled some setting higher. Managing about 130-140 FPS @ 3440 x 1440 in most scenes. I have not really noticed artifacts yet. Though still early in the game. From personal experience if "Outlaw" preset enabled and you turn on "Enable Freesync HDR" it will crash on an AMD card. The only way to resolve is to reinstall Windows 11 by reformatting.
13700k and OG 4080 here, playing it in UW 3440X1440, everything maxes, except RTXDI which is on high and not ultra. DLSS balanced and frame gen on. I get between 70-100 fps, my montior is 100hz (with gsync) so no point in getting any more. Same artifacting as you got but the game runs great and with path tracing it also looks amazing.
Remember, Greedo had his blaster pointed at Han. Han shot Greedo first. Greedo’s blaster then went off after he got shot. Hence blaster mark on the wall.
Okay so this video has convinced me of the game, I will be buying it but after I see some patches for the artificing, my gpu is not on the list but it is a 3080 (12gb) and I can assume that it would be above the 6750XT in performance, luckily I am running a 12700K which is the recommended for the utlra, I'm glad this game doesn't necessitate a huge GPU for high settings, thank y'all for the benchmarks I can't wait to play this game! Perhaps it's just cause I know many people that still have 10 series cards that I still consider them part of the low end, but it is 3 gens old, maybe that's just too outdated of me and "low end" now is at least 20 series with RT cores, and the 10 series are now whatever below "low end" is.

Drew.

There was an update today when I logged on as well but I have not checked the notes to see what was updated in that patch. Awesome video thank you for showing us how to get better results when playing this title, awesome work and video as always.

Is Concord up next? 😂
Concord has uninstalled itself
LOL
Yo, not like this lol
Concord has been pulled and those who bought it were to be issued refunds.
I liked the testing done for this video. I'm shocked by many of the results as you were. Also, that NXZT Flex thing is neat.
the rtx requirement is one of the dumbest things ive heard being required for a game. like i dont really care about the game but it sets a horrible president for future games if someone cant afford hardware that can play it, like the last time i got angry about a hardware limitation was when 3.5 mm headphone jacks were removed from phones.

1440 is only 19% on steam hardware survey where 1080 is 56%.
The reality is yes, you can afford a 1440p high refresh monitor as the prices have dropped.
Now see if you can afford the GPU/CPU upgrades to play the same games you were playing at 1080p.

He also said 1080p is 1/4th of 1440p. He probably meant 4K, but saying that in the video is misleading as hell.
it wasnt long ago 1080p as 95%, and almost all of the % lost in 1080 has gone to 1440p, so its tracking a trend. but yea, it would be cool to see specs specifically for each title on steam too at some point in the future.

It has always benn one of the graphics settings i always turned down or off entirely in favor of higher framerates. Shadows have always cost a lot of performance in games
