The M3S can hold up to 4 barrels and wooden crates in a separate section from the inventory.
When you start the truck you don't have to start from first gear in order to get it moving you can go all the way up to 4th gear to get the Max Speed automatically which is 42km per hour.
Another thing to note for both the cars and the truck is to keep the engine running you can do this by switching to neutral gear before you hop out this will keep the truck or car running until it runs out of gas or the engine gets ruined or something.
More information to know is if a gas tank is ruined on the truck the gas rate will go down so fast it's not even funny so the truck is basically ruined if the gas tank is ruined until a new patch comes with them fixing this or adding the option (1.12 does not have the ability to fix M3S fuel tank, the engine or the windows when just damaged and not ruined)
the truck is very durable and can take a serious beating before dying and I'm referring to bullets but crashing will only damage the front bumper and nothing else and you cant go unconscious when going top speed and hitting something. Getting hit in the back from another vehicle WILL damage the fuel tank and basically render the truck useless.
The truck can go around the chenarnus map 3 times on a full tank of gas that is not damaged with makes it useful for long time drives and can go up hills with ease by going into lower gears with 1 being the best.
The truck is bulletproof from the back so you can somewhat make it a very slow ram that can have its tires blown when shot.
Since the truck is high off the ground it doesn't make a effective mobile cover(nothing make good mobile cover)
there also was 3 versions of this vehicle.
(Keep in mind that the other two versions of the M3S were in the dayz mod for Arma 2)
#1 M3S covered which is what we got in-game.
#2 M3S flatbed was a nice vehicle although it didnt have as much space as the covered version.
#3 M3S cargo which was the same thing as the covered but without the tarp.
(2022 edit) the newest 1.16 patch still does not allow the repair of the fuel tank with any items as of (Mar 1st 2022)

Just a few tips I thought of!
#1 if your tires are stuck in the ground never get in you will die and despawn the truck, instead take something from your inventory and throw it at it, it should pop out of the ground again (this goes for all vehicles)
#2 If you are driving and see the engine symbol flashing this means you are either red lining or the gears are stuck, for red lining you should simply change gears more efficiently or if the gears are stuck either put it in reverse, shut it off, or get out and back in, you will damage the engine both ways.
#3 The overall "health" of your car and the engine are two different things. you can see the overall health by the color while standing outside the driver side looking in (I haven't seen anyone mention this and I still have yet to figure out how to repair it or if you even can) to check the engine open the hood and look at the engine, engines can be repaired with blowtorches.
#4 If you are stuck on a tree take the doors off and drop them below your tires and get back in, this should pop your car up once you are IN the vehicle, repeat this until you are free.
#5 Barrels and crates can be placed in the truck and can also hold extra storage while inside

You can punch your windows to get rid of them. I found my m3s with a broken driver front window and it was impossible to see much. Punched it out and I can see perfect.

I ha e been running in my truck a while now engine went yellow once fixed it went yellow again fixed it but if I look at the truck at the back the whole truck shows as badly damaged can I fix this? Because I feel its everytime the engine degrades a level so whole truck degrades so basically if my engine goes yellow again its going to be ruined.
@@BradleysTrackUniverse I don't believe so, if epoxy wont work on it, then its not repairable. Might be a good idea to scout out a new truck, then drive to it and swap out the tires ect.
With a pipe wrench you can repair the engine. Stand in front of ms3 and look around the driver side of engine.

I would only use the truck if you were farming items unless you got several buddies to help protect and them maybe even in another vehicle.

I know you probably wont see this but is it worth it to get a vehicle?
Yes and No... I say yes for the "fun factor" and it allows you to move around the map quick. No because it puts a huge target on your back if your trying to just survive, and the parts take a long time to find sometimes.
Final conclusion: Yes because its fun but you will probably die because of it eventually.

Does the truck actually have brakes? When I press the brakes it doesn’t seem to do anything to reduce the truck’s speed. Downshifting is the most effective method I’ve found for slowing down, but the delay between shifts makes quick stops impossible.
On a related note I noticed that the brake lights only come on when I hit the brakes while in reverse.
I think it just breaks extremely slowly because of it's weight. Unless there is a bug going on, but I think it's just a really slow breaking vehicle.

if you build this, then go do stuff for an hour IRL, will it be gone? How long does it stick around after you exit the truck? If you die, does it time out?
It will stay indefinitely, it only de-spawns if the engine is ruined (engine cant be fixed.) Also someone could steal it if it's not hidden well enough.

The biggest issue for me is finding all the tires, you can’t fit them in your pack and I’d like to see anyone carry a tire at walking speed for hours, now do this 10 times

Im starting to think that there are no wheels for V3S, I went to so many wrecks and none of them had them, even after loot reset. Something is wrong or there is just 0.01% chance to find one.

Whenever I can't repair my engines I log out and reconnect, usually then allows me to repair.
Also, I finally got a truck up and running but I swear it is running at half speed. Wheels are bouncing and feels like I'v got something stuck underneath it. Tops out at 38km/h on flat road. Any advice?
It really is a slow vehicle. Try straight to 4th gear when you start it up?

Sadly you cannot at this time. It's a question the players request from the developers a lot, but no luck.
How do you load the barrels on the truck? Where do you stand at exactly please? Would you consider making a vid on it?
Stand near the midway point of the truck, You should see it in your UI and be able to add the barrel.

New player here. When collecting car parts like tires, how long can you leave them on the ground before they despawn? Or is it better to store them somewhere? Still trying to figure things out
I am not 100% sure to be honest, but it kind of depends on the state the wheel is in (pristine to badly damaged) but roughly 1-6 hours on the ground. If stored in a container it will extend the time. I could be mistaken, it seems as if the wiki might not be up to date on that.
the tarp on my truck is destryed is there a way to fix it

@@Nitno go in a single world and shot the tarp u will see it will say ruined and not fixable ! they should be a slot for a tarp to replace it

Is it easier to get a truck going or a base? And can you store big parts like tires somewhere? I'm a returning player and would love to have a truck.
Tricky question to answer, some of it is luck. Getting a stash going to place vehicle parts would be a good idea, then go searching for a truck. Don't need a full base right away, a stash will do.

So i have a question. We only have 2 double wheels and 2 front wheel. Do we need the extra 2 double wheels at the back for it actually make it go faster because it did not go over 11 km / hour 🤣
Try skipping 1st and 2nd gear and going straight to 3rd. I feel like it should be faster with what you have.

Not at this time, there is now repair to the cover. Strange huh!
Is this the Standalone version of DayZ or the Arma version? I've been playing standalone for a couple weeks and have yet to see or hear even 1 vehicle/aircraft of any kind.
This is the Standalone. Cars are really rare but they are out there!

The truck does not take water, it is air cooled. Something else must be happening other than overheating.

Good question, I am not sure if they ever will.
I doubt the fuel tank will ever be repairable.
Same goes for car radiators. Kinda shitty when 99% of all crashes and damage are caused by the glitchy game and not driver error.

I just damaged my fuel tank when the gate hit the truck. Now it uses crazy amounts of fuel. It's ridiculous that they don't provide any way to repair it.
@@joeshmoe1962 Agreed! The only real choice is to full up a bunch of gas in the trunk and drive around hoping to find another truck to replace it. Easier said than done though.

New Player here, where do you store this truck or cars so it doesnt despawn?
It will not despawn. It will only despawn if the engine is ruined. It's best to hide it in the woods or behind a locked gate. You can also take the spark plug out and put it in your characters inventory then log out, to make it more difficult to just get stolen. But if you log in, and it's gone, someone found it.

No radiator needed for Trucks, they are aircooled! even the m3s IRL.
Can you fix stuff like the bumper
You can try the epoxy, I don't believe so though. This may change or be different on modded servers.
Where is the best place to find the truck battery
In the game files, Truck Batteries are simply labeled as "Industrial". So industrial warehouses and sheds ect.
Are you sure you're supposed to use the huge pipe wrench and not just the regular wrench? I found a regular wrench recently didn't know what I could need it for butit seems much more like one that would be used to work on a vehicle, granted I know some biger rigs have bigger tool requirement but just curious.
The little wrench you can now use to lock items on your car. For example you can now lock the battery in place, and any random players running by can't just take it out unless they also have a wrench.

Correct, no need for a radiator or water on the M3S trucks. The engine is Air-Cooled even in IRL :)
I've seen on other videos of people locking doors and body parts to cars with the small wrench, can that be done on the m3s too?

Suppose I'm able to find a wheel, single or dually, but have not found a truck yet. How long can I hide/store that wheel before it despawns? And how might I prevent it from despawning?
best way to stop it from de spawning is to stash it. Maybe a stick shelter would be easiest to craft.

Yes sadly, it is not repairable and drains fuel. Your best bet to to use the vehicle to drive around and find a new vehicle and swap all the parts.

Correct! It will drive on 4. Having all 6 is deal, but it will move with just 4.

It's hit or miss, they can be yes. Community servers often have custom de-spawn timers to "refresh" the amount of cars in the wild. On official it is possible for someone to hoard a bunch of cars in the woods then keep touching them every few days so they don't despawn.

I just have one question. When I raid a Convoy there is a lg Truck with a cube rear compartment with two doors. I can't seem to get into the back of it, to get any loot. I try jumping , walking and lightening my load. No luck. What am I doing wrong?
Hmm all I can think is that sometimes loot really is bugged in objects and you can't loot it. Happens to cars a lot, loot sinking into the seat for example.

It does not need one, these trucks are air-cooled (in real life too).

Ah well you won't see the full inventory in the "trunk". The inventory is still in the barrel, for example you'll need to take the barrel off the truck, then open it up to use the inventory, then put the barrel back.
@@Nitno if you just leave the barrel open you don’t have to take it off the truck. You can then just fill it up like the regular inventory

Hello, how can the barrels be opened when they are already in the truck's inventory?
I just tried it out myself and I don't believe they can be opened in the inventory, you need to take the barrel off to open it up.
where is the best spot to find the wheels?
I found most of them on Ruined M3S, so those wrecked trucks you find, you'll often be able to get wheels off them. They are scattered around the map, but I seem to often find them near the long farm buildings.

Nope! Even in real life, the m3s is air cooled, no radiator needed! Also no spark/glow plug needed in game. If it's got a battery and a working engine, you are good. (and wheels ect)
My truck wont start and everything is showing pristine does that mean i need to find a battery charger
It's possible. I believe you can put the battery in your hand and it will give a color indicating the charge.
How are you able to tell if the truck is repairable?
Some trucks are just "part of the environment" and others you can fix and drive. If it is repairable it will have a UI that you can interact with. In most cases cars and trucks are really rare in DayZ so the majority of crashed/wrecked vehicles you see won't be driveable. (but you can pick stuff like spare tires and doors off of some wrecked vehicles.)

Maybe it is mistranslated? I think they don't use the actually brand names anymore.

Try epoxy on them. That typically repairs the bodies of cars.

You cannot :/ I know it is lame... very strange that you can't (at this time on official vanilla dayz)

You cannot... although it would be sense! Currently you cannot fix the tarp as far as I know (1.23). This gets asked a lot, they really should make it able to be fixed.

Not currently no. The only real option if you are having trouble seeing out if it, is to shoot it out completely

I thought a tire iron would let me take tires off cars and i haven't been able to find a tire in 20 storage crates worth of looting around
The tire iron will let you split wheels, for example the back wheel of a truck is usually a double, but you can take it off and spit into two single wheels.

Hmm I think they lid needs to be open, so you'd have to take them off to do that.

I use Xbox dude but yeah I was wondering if there was tires on this game because where !? It's stupid if you put one wheel down on the ground it de spawns... I did not know that! Lol but I'm new I played this game for 4 dayz now and well it fun when you know how but in teal life you do not burn through a gun barrel in 120 shots
One of the best ways to get tires is to take them off wrecked vehicles. So even if they are cars that cannot be repaired, they can have a couple parts you can pick off them, including tires. (not all wrecked cars, but some do.) I like to say that this game takes about 50 hours to really start to get the hang of, stick with it! Getting a vehicle is sort of an "end game" kind of thing, although you can play it however you'd like. As for the gun barrel, you can keep your weapon repaired with a weapon cleaning kit, they look like a brown cardboard box.
