Fun fact, shortly after the first season of Yonug Royals was released and gained huge popularity globally, lot of people started wondering what the stand on royalty being gay in Sweden is. Not long after, it was legally confirmed that Sweden's royals are allowed to enter same sex marriage, and it will not affect their responsibilities and privileges (including right to throne and line of succession) :)
Though the question of a heir of a queer royal couple was left open, since continuation of the Royal bloodline is still required.

Sara not telling Simon that it was August who leaked the video of the boys was not just because she was upset with Simon for keeping the dialogue and relationship with the Father secretly, but mainly because Sara dreams more than anything to be like the rich girls from that school. In the first episode you notice how she tries to be a snobby rich girl asking her mother to sit down properly for dinner at the table.
And also because her mom talked about both her and Simon having to go back to their old school, where she was bullied.
I actually think Sara is worse than August. Sure, what August did was the worst thing, but he did it in a fit of jealousy and rage, whereas Sara did have time to consider what she could gain for herself by betraying her brother and friend.
Am I the only one who desperetely needs to see his reaction to Red, White and Royal Blue when it comes out? Literally dying for it

Liam, I’m so glad you prefer the original language version. There IS a notable increase in realism and genuineness when we hear the swedish dialogues. And in a show like this, all raw emotions, we need to be in the front row, not in the balcony.
Just a lil pro tip, there is lots of color theory in YR. Yellow represents distance and purple represents wilhem/happieness/close-ness! Mostly represented by simons clothing.

Fun fact the guy who played Alexander, the fall guy for the drugs, is trans. I would have literally never known if i didnt do some Googles of the actors on the show after watching it.
Caused a bit of... tension in the fandom when ppl found out because hes a POC and trans...and gets thrown under the bus...thats left a not great taste in some people's mouths.
But yeah, it cool how they just cast a trans person in a regular role thats not centered on their gender. kinda cool...havnt seen many shows do that.

I think August subconsciously reminded Sara of her dad because of his addiction, but she believed it was too late for her dad to change but not too late for August to change... Also he was the only guy to ever give her attention and she's a year older than all the other girls in her class because she had to repeat a year due to the severe bullying at her old school. She wanted to fit in so badly that she took the worst possible way...

Forgot to say that I also didn't watch Young Royals when it first aired, because I'm also very anti-monarchy and anti glorification of social hierarchies. I only watched it bc people in Heartstopper reaction vids comment sections kept recommending it. And I'm extremely happy I did!

About Sara, her behaviour is messed up but she's on the autism spectrum and she has adhd and massive trauma from bullying, and that actually explains her thinking. Both Felice and Simon told her to not tell everything to everybody, and that sometimes it's better to say nothing unless someone asks. She took that advice very literally. It sucks but her behaviour is based on real people.

I also have a theory about something wille mom said. I was re-watching young royals in spanish and when wilhelm was talking to her she said ''I also had a relationship like yours before your father.'' That made me think what if she used to date a girl and told her mom but she didn't accept it so she's doing that to wille. But that's just what I think
In that scene, she says in Swedish "I too had a regrettable relationship..."
@@timothymcclaire3276which to be fair could swing either way as well but I think in Swedish it's much more towards the fact that it could have still been a straight relationship and the person just wasn't the right class. But the theory that she could have been in a relationship with a woman... I guess it's been mistranslated from the original Swedish in more than just the Spanish and English translations because a lot of people have had that theory. But yeah, having people who understand the native language of the show is always helpful to those who don't understand it because they can clarify such mistranslations or add some interesting or necessary context to the specific words being used in the sentence.

She is american and understands Swedish, but she thinks she sounds stupid speaking it with her accent, so she isn’t comfortable enough to speaking Swedish.

9:06 i disagree with your point. Wilhem makes the point better in S2 but August is still royal family, he's aware that August will never get consequences either. And the others, including August, then could get back to Simon to blame anyway. And he is right on Simon not seeing his position. Wilhelm isn't like his family as far as belief system but he's more aware than anyone else of just how powerful and terrible they really are. And he's aware that them and anyone related to them would get away with anything, so blaming August would be pointless. He's been completely broken by his family, and Simon's line in that scene was really just mean, because they both know Wilhelm is nothing like them. And he doesn't try to protect them, he just knows they are already too protected, they're unbeatable.
simon not seeing wille's side of things in *this* particular argument shouldnt be an issue though because here the issue is that a secret society was partying, drinking and taking drugs and got caught. nothing about it is simon's problem at all. a bunch of entitled kids got reckless big woop, i feel like i would also say what simon said about not taking the blame just cause a prince fucked up. they're the ones who sneaked out, theyre the ones that took the drugs. they should own up to it. i still daydream about alexander growing a back bone and just telling the truth as soon as he got caught, lol i would've for sure..
