I would argue that Galicia has one design element that makes it better than most people give it credit for: the dirt in Galicia Is deeper and more deformable than most other bf1 maps. Dont believe me? Use dynamite, AT grenades, and support limpet mines to dig. I garuntee you it will save lives. Essentially the terrain in Galicia allow players to create their own foxholes moreso than in any other bf1 map. It would have been awesome if the devs had allowed you to go all out and extend the trench works n such.
Hey @GravityBFTV quick question. I know there probably aren't that many more maps to have a Best *and* Worst map video like Hue and Reclaiming Hue, but i was thinking about a map I both love and hate, Siege! I've thought for years that the only thing keeping Seige of Shanghai back for me is that every match has some level 8 support blow the tower 2 minutes in, and that the whole map just feels lesser without a high ground objective to distract the AT Helis from farming all game. Would you agree, or is it probably not as much of a turkey shoot as I've convinced myself it is?
You are not alone with Shanghai giving off that "Love/hate" feeling. Its one of those popular but frustrating maps for sure. You are correct that the tower coming down does increase the potency of the ATK helos, but id argue they are already too strong even with the tower up. They are the main cause of pain on that map, and shouldve been changed to only being scout helos like in conquest small. The map has a few other issues, and ill cover them in detail at a later time, but you are correct. Though I dont think the tower comes down as fast or as often as people think. There might be a lot of confirmation bias skewing that, especially since it happened a lot more early in the games life when Levelution was the cool new thing everyone always wanted to see happen.
@GravityBFTV Fair, though I played on PS4, which meant more newer, curious players and fewer server owners trying to keep the tower up for at least a bit. It just sucks that the one time in modern Battlefield that they manage to make a decent rooftop objective, one that remedies the main map issues of elevator camping, rooftop sniping, and helicopter domination, they also make it so that you can turn it into the exact opposite. A hole in the ground where 40mm shells and zuni rockets go.
Also in EU servers, Russians keep voting for this and Galicia just to feel victorious everytime, in fact, this was probably the idea when designing all the Tsar DLC maps, to appeal to russians
To me it feels like only a third the BF1 maps are good. Another third are just okay. The final third are terrible. It seems as if DICE put too much focus on trying to make the maps reflect what the actual WWI battlefields were like and not enough attention on the overall design and layout.
Now we need Galicia to take the crown of the worst

I own all of the DLC for BF1, played for a decent amount and I have never played on this map. Great video nonetheless. I love this series of videos
It would be cool to add suggestions at the end that might improve these maps.
Now i understand why the austria hungary were so badly beaten in this battle
Thanks for this video - its a vindication of what felt like being gas lit by a lot of the community into thinking its good
I kinda forgot it existed but I always left when I saw it, just never liked this map.

I quite liked this map, but I mostly played Operations. I think the fighting in the houses is really cool.
Yeah. I’ve had more enjoyable experiences on this map in Operations than in Conquest.
It is a map primarily designed around operation making it thin and not great for conquest but I personally love it on both
Still better then any generic Meat-grinder map.
This series is awesome, I’d love to see more (Albion, Monte Grappa lol)
How do you rate Zeebrugge?

A wonderful review as usual
Why's Fao Fortress not here?
Despite it's beautiful atmosphere and visuals it's a terrible map to play on like the rest of the expansion mostly.
Great map for the arty truck spammer like me.
BRUSILOV KEEP HELL YEAH!!!!!!! FUCK THIS MAP!!!!!!!!!!!! ALWAYS HATED THIS ONE
