  • We spent 7.5 hours at sea for our 80 mile boat trip from the Dry Tortugas to Key West. Overall the entire trip was a success minus breaking a few things. The Bahamas are in our sights as we plan to finally get ready to head to Bimini, and then the Berry Islands in the next 2 weeks.
We were met with a rapidly growing pandemic that made the planning and preparations much harder, and ultimately we were faced with a choice. Stay put in Key West, or make way to the Bahamas ASAP.
Thanks for watching. We hope you enjoy the video!

Team Wiff is simply our names combined (Will & Tiff). Together we are on a journey to get the most out of our lives, while avoiding being trapped within the societal norm.
What started it all was the idea of living on an affordable boat in Florida for a year. In May 2016 we bought a 51ft Bluewater coastal cruiser which was a powerboat meets houseboat. We lived at several marinas in the Fort Myers area and quickly learned the ins and out of living aboard.
We apparently liked it. Instead of buying a house, we ended up with a Sea Ray 480DB. We think it’s arguably one of the best boats to live aboard. This boat has allowed us to get a taste of the cruising lifestyle, while we’re still working and living aboard full-time, in Fort Myers Beach as well as Key West.

With the onset of the ‘Rona, our boating season looked dismal in NY with King Cuomo declaring boating off limits, but alas, that only lasted a few days once the King’s subjects revolted. The 2020 season was possibly one of the best boating seasons in a long while. Packed marinas, boat sales through the roof and great weather! Wish it never ended, but we’re on the hard now until next season. Enjoy Florida’s endless summer and take nothing for granted!

Wise words. Aside from being bummed about the Bahamas, we like how our season went as well. Even the rough 3 months in the hard, which is coming up in the vids. We felt kind of wrong with how much we enjoyed being “quarantined” in Key West, so it certainly wasn’t all bad. Crazy to think they wanted to cancel boating up there. They would’ve had to arrest me to get me off the boat!

Always enjoy your adventures. Our COVID Boating season took a turn due to the crazy boating market, we took advantage and sold our boat in July. Just got our next one and starting out our East Coast adventures since the boat we sold was in California and the one we purchased is in Florida. Stay safe.

I keep hearing about this hot market. We might be tempted to try our luck at making a buck and listing the boat. I’m glad you enjoy the vids.

As, for my lock down experience, I ignored it all, flew From Oklahoma to Florida for a job interview in person. Got the job prepped my house in Oklahoma for sale and moved to Florida and sold the house a couple of months after I left. And I have been happily living in Destin for 6 months now.

Great video! We are on an aft cabin trawler preparing to do what you guys are doing but we are a bit behind you in terms of timeline. We are also in Florida but on the St. Johns River. Stay safe in this storm and keep the videos coming.

Thanks! That’s a pretty good spot to be. How long have you had the trawler?

About two years now. We both work full time so our time to do projects is a bit more limited. We take our boat out for short trips but nothing extensive yet.

Watching from South East Ontario Canada, love your videos as I'm in works for next winter in Florida on a boat. I currently have a 32 ft Searay 300. Since the pandemic this past summer boat sell have gone crazy. If the boat floats it sells. I'm looking to upgrade on boating but not sure to buy here in Canada then traveling the ICW to Florida or just purchase a boat in Florida but currency rate will make my decision. My destination is Fort Myers which I plan on living on the boat for a couple of years as I have family in Tampa and Naples. Do you have any suggestions ?. Also how long does it take to travel from Ft Myers to Tampa and Ft.Myers to Key West. Look forward to hearing from Eh ! Cheers
