Strokes are serious things. I hope everyone who watched this and found out about Chris Gore, please, learn the signs of stroke. There's a simple mnemonic you can use: FAST.
Face - One side of the face gets droopy, weak, or numb. Most obvious when they smile, it will seem uneven. If you suspect a stroke, ask them to smile.
Arms - Weakness or inability to move one arm. If they raise both arms, one will drift downward, or have trouble reaching as high as the other.
Speech - Strange or slurred speech, or trouble speaking at all.
Time - Time is essential. Strokes are not something to mess around with, if somebody's having a stroke they need immediate care. Call an ambulance, don't delay. Time is neurons. Please act fast.
And if you're the one who's experiencing a stroke, some signs are not outward, like difficulty understanding what other people are saying, decreased or blurred vision in one or both eyes, loss of balance, or dizziness, or severe headache. You can test yourself with FAST if you have any of these symptoms.
Here's hoping Chris Gore makes a full and speedy recovery, and becomes an ambassador for stroke detection and helps spread the word and save some lives.

I doubt many people listen to stuff exclusively. Background noise while doing something else, most likely something repetitive where your mind can be elsewhere, is when most people listen to podcasts. Driving, gaming, chores, boring jobs, exercise are probably the top picks. And depending on the podcast, fall asleep.
If I’m level grinding in FF14 I’ll put on EFAP, Real BBC, or FNT.
The revelation that they have been including "expected" profits from FUTURE films explains why KK is so keen on announcing stuff that never comes out. They have announced 3 trilogies at this point, so that is 9 theatrical films they can just on to reported "profits". They have been ignoring costs and only reporting revenue, so every time something gets announced, they just add on a nice billion onto that number and call it "profit".

I think both their reviews are flawed. Drinker didn’t mention any clear flaws (like the turret scene in episode 2), while I think Mauler was reaching at points.
I'm with Drinker on this one, the issues they had on this BBC are all solved if you watch the rest of the show. From what I read people want to hate the show so much that they are almost delusional... One guy gave the whole show 1/10 because they used led bulbs instead of era specific ones.

I never played the fallout games, but the show is mid: a 6 or so. Mauler isn’t wrong.
What I don't get is how people can say Fallout "isn't woke" despite all the DEI, chick with a mustache/they/thems of steel, the comments to the effect that "Communism is just misunderstood" etc. If you enjoy it, that's fine. But claiming it isn't woke is just gaslighting.
This is exactly how I feel, dont have a problem with people who enjoy it. Slap a Disney or Marvel productions logo on it and people would be (rightfully) shitting on it for being woke and poorly written.

It also schitts on the established lore by the original developers, Obsidian, but because a lot of these Fallout Fans have only played the Bethesda entries, they don't know how terrible Bethesda's writing is compared to the originals.

Starting a movie with California allied to Texas is like walking in on a chess game with the king standing in front of the pawns. It demands an explanation.
Another comment gave the likely explanation; that they wanted to court both gun loving Texas conservatives and hardcore angry California liberals, and they knew this would get both sides to come see the movie… and it worked, notice somehow that for the most part, neither side is claiming the movie is either “woke trash” or “alt right propaganda”.
It’s getting a pass as just a fairly boring but average movie about war journalism or something, which from the studio’s perspective is better than wholesale pissing off one side as almost every other medium does these days.
People in Hollywood think Texas will turn politically because they took one trip to Austin.
They are turning Texas blue. The movie is set in the near future so might as well be a Blue State and Purple State. Anyway the movie was a disappointment. Absolutely no substance. No worldbuilding. It had nothing worth offering.
My main issue with California conquering anything is how they intend on keeping all those soldiers hydrated . . .

Lets say Trump won and Californians decided en masse that they HAD to secede to save themselves from his evil tyranny of 'winning a fair election again' well the only way they have enough water is if they forcibly invaded not one but several neighboring states. That just wouldn't be possible; the second California seceded, all the military and others from the rest of the country would immediately leave, and the National Guard would have mass AWOLs at best. So who would be left to fight for the extremely anti 2A California? Los Angeles residents? San Francisco's street denizens? Millions of illegal immigrants? Not looking good for those tech nerds and elitist liberals' dreams of a new utopia free of MAGA chuds, is it?

The Brotherhood has been cool working with the Wasteland since Fallout 3 with the east coast faction. Elder Maxson is now in charge, and he was the squire for Elder Lyons and carries many of his perspective on things.

Fallout show in a nutshell: "Somehow, the Enclave has returned... again."
...and no, the show isn't canon no matter how much Todd Howard gaslights you. Play Fallout 1, 2, and NV then try to tell me the show is "canonical" and "lore friendly". You can try and cope all you want, the shows definitely a 6.5/10, meaning above average, doesn't mean it's loyal to the source material.
The Enclave was destroyed in the West in 2, they reappear here because Bethesda has no originality. Shady Sands being destroyed in 2277 completely fμ¢ks-up the lore because the 1st Battle of Hoover Dam takes place that year, and the NCR is definitely a huge player by the time the show's supposed to take place. Without the NCR, Caesar's Legion (which isn't even mentioned) would have conquered the area, the New Vegas strip would be nothing without the economic stimulus the NCR brings; it's an absolute mess. Let's be honest, the BoS as Bethesda depicts them wouldn't last in the West, the Boomers would take-down the Prydwen by themselves. There is no way the show can explain these things without completely changing the lore, so quit with the "tHeY eXpLaIn It If YoU wAtCh ThE wHoLe ShOw" excuse, they don't and they can't.
I don't want to be doing the "No True Scotsman" fallacy, but you can't call yourself a "hardcore Fallout fan" and support the changes they made. You're Bethesda Fallout fans, it's like saying Disney Star Wars fans are hardcore Star Wars fans; they're not the same.
Is it really so hard to acknowledge the show isn't canonical to OG Fallout and still enjoy it and the games? That's what my biggest issue is, not that the show is non-canonical but that people who are Bethesda Fallout fans are trying to argue to the OG Fallout fans that they're wrong and the show is true to the originals.
Even without the lore, which...The Master had this vault NEXT DOOR and the Enclave were sending out messages to CA vaults in FO2, how does a Vault survive on the beach at sea level over 200 years??? I guess Climate Change isn't real after all!

A main character also calls out the communist meeting for leading to bread lines. Some character's don't like company's like vault tec, doesn't necessarily mean the show creators are trying to show communism as a good thing and capitalism as bad.

Yep, and it is terrible. The changes they made to Shady Sands, Mr. House, ghouls, power armor - all unnecessary and break lore, especially of the three best games (that Bethesda did not make, ofc). The writing is poor quality even if you are not a Fallout fan, but actual fans (not tourists) will be properly outraged. Oh yeah, and the show is woke AF as well.

I've seen three episodes of Fallout and episode 1 is by far the strongest.

SPOILERS regarding the Fallout tv show, just my notes regarding lore problems in the show:
Problems in the lore and setting.
1. What you said already, that the Fall of Shady Sands doesn't really jive with the New Vegas story line. There's no really any good way to go about it, they just bungled it up. It could be that the "fall" was something like "Shady Sands was corrupt, and the people knew that it had fallen" kinda stuff, but that's just.... yeah.... It's not good, and I'm not really hopeful for the showrunners to be able to save that, and they're going to just ignore it.
2. The waterchip being destroyed was never brought up again. The people at Vault 33 are going to die.
3. If the Vault 4 scene about the survivors of Shady Sands revering the "Flame Mother" was anything to go by, the people at the observatory and the raiders in the episode 1 were NCR survivors. Why would the survivors from Shady Sands be such.... degenerates? They didn't know how to use utensils, they didn't undestand what drapes were, nor did they could be called uncivilized. Another plot hole there
4. The T-60 power armors are cast steel armors, not welded. You can see that they are cast, and what Cooper said about them having a weakness is just BS.
5. One of the biggest problems that I noticed was that how in the hell did Hank get to New Vegas? He has to come from the west, so there are few problems there. If he comes from the north, along the 95, he's going to run in 80s and White Leg territory. A lone Vault Overseer will get wasted quite quickly there. The route from 95 is still the most likely ONLY IF the Courier 6 is real and canon AND he sided with NCR or Mr House. This would mean that the White Legs are weakened, and I bet that the 80s have gotten their fair share of missiles/troopers to deal with, but in the case that the Courier 6 sided with the NCR, there should be NCR soldiers along the 95. What if a man running in the Brotherhood power armor comes near NCR troopers? They're going to shoot at him, so it's.... not very likely that he'd survive that either. So, what about the I15 then? Well, it's the main NCR route to New Vegas, so again troopers spot a man running in Brotherhood power armor, and he's dead. "Well, what about just straight through the western wasteland?". Nope. There's the Divide, and he's NOT going to survive that.
What I see in this tv show is a bunch of screenwriters and showrunners, who are not actually fans of the IP. "If it sells, it's good" must be their motto. Not really waiting for the second season, cause the trainwreck that this was was just too big. The theme was good and the only saving grace for this.
Im with Mauler. Fallout sucked. It ruined so much lore which i cared about far more than any of these characters. What they did to the Brotherhood of Steel was criminal. There were so many scenes that made no sense and/or i couldnt roll me eyes hard enough. The whole thing was a Rorschach test. If you think about whats going on, everything falls apart....if you mindlessly stare at the screen, and get distracted by the jingling 'member berries...i guess you like it.
PS. Get well soon Chris Gore. You are the man. Rock on.
What did they do to the Brotherhood of Steel?
The worst thing about the Fallout show is how it undoes the entire trilogy. Nothing that happened in Fallout, F2 and New Vegas matters. All of those stories are completely worthless now. Exactly the same way that Disney made the OT worthless, this show makes the Fallout OT worthless.

@@Helldog6 It does, play those games or read the summary on Fallout Wiki. I'll give you one big one as the list is too long. In FO1 The Master was cracking open vaults to create super mutants. Vault 31-33 were on the beach, right next door to him and fully visible.
Micro transactions absolutely induce gambling addictions in young kids. Games like madden offer "packs" with non guaranteed content.

@@dutchdykefinger Gambling addiction isn't about money, it's about random reward. Money is *a* reward, but your brain also sees digital goods as rewards in the same way. There's a reason the job skills for both are basically the same, and that techniques like sparkly lights and fancy sounds are used in both loot boxes and slot machines.

Open one pack, get mostly common cards with low resell value. Open another, get a high value SR or UR that sells for a lot.

My favourite scene was when, Holdo reverses into the biggest fuking star ship in existence, while trying to flee.
As a show on its own merits, Fallout was one of the most frustratingly written pieces of television I ever bothered to watch. I'm sorry, guys. This show deserves none of the credit it's being given to by the typical shills and the people within this circle.
I'm a Fallout fan. I'm excited to see the next piece of Fallout media regardless of how butchered this franchise has become. Yes, the retconning upsets me as a fan, but more than my desire to see BoS knights, NCR rangers, and Enclave soldiers messing shit up, I want a good story that only Fallout could do. I want a show that captures the best aspects of this franchise, not just the shallow gilts and glamor that we get all giddy about. I've watched the whole season 1, and I mean this as objectively and impartially as possible. This is a bad show. A really bad show. Good visuals and presentation? Yes. But still a very poorly written waste of potential.
The humor ranges from passable to downright irritating. Vault 4 was the most interesting this show had gotten that wasn't about Coop's flashbacks and they threw the tension away for a joke and a "do good thing" message so amateurishly wrtitten that I feel like I'm in a school PSA. The characters are shallow caricatures at best, and the plot has them acting like idiots whenever it's convenient for the drama. The main storyline with Maldover, apart from being a plot holed riddled mess, is so ham-fisted and sloppy with the Red Scare messaging that tries desperately to sound more meaningful than it is. Even the flashbacks with Coop are passable at best, though it's admittedly the best part of the show. I liked none of the protagonists, even Coop. They're just dumb assholes that might've had at least a bit of chemistry and charm if the show didn't insist on separating them into their own sidestories, making the fact that they're one-note cardboard cut-outs (Lucy), unlikable dipshits that I don't want to follow (Maximus), and shallow, try-hard edgy badasses (Coop tho again, he is the best part of the show) all the more frustrating.
I will not be convinced out of this position. "Oh, it's not so annoying with its progressive messaging" is not a high bar. This show is below average at best, Fallout fanboys and media shills will eat anything with enough colors and style around it, and I sure hope this isn't a sign for things to come or I will never forgive this fanbase for allowing this show to get a close 90% rating. This show deserves a failing grade, not a gold star. This should not be the standard of what Fallout, or any adaptation, can strive for.

It’s not just not canon; Todd and Emil straight up used this show to OBLITERATE the NV lore completely out of that long-standing seething perpetual jealousy at a better game being made that despite all its issues still gets called the best Fallout game today, and because nobody in Hollywood ever tries to understand the source material they just let it happen.

I disagree, while I rate this show a solid 8/10 for the whole season it has excellent writing and doesn't lean into the whole modern audiences thing at all. They just happen to have a trans actress/actor(?) playing the part of a Tom boy as far I am concerned and there are plenty of twists in the story to throw you for loops that work so well...

Fallout has always had goofy writing at times. I'm assuming the people ragging on the show haven't played any of the games.
This shows writing is for toddlers, or people scrolling on there phones with this on in the background. The writing is brain dead. It destroys what could have been.

Well by his own admission he didn't like what he saw, didn't watch the whole thing and is willing to pick it up again if others recommend the remainder, so it's not like his opinion is final on the matter.

While I HAVE been enjoying the Fallout show and watching it with my wife (who hasn’t played the games), the whole “I need to find someone I’m not related to” storyline wasn’t well thought out, and because their push for diversity, was almost comical. Whenever we saw a black guy we would say”I doubt she’s related to him!”
Also the fact that her dad is from vault 31 (as far as I know atm), that means everyone in the vault is related to JUST HER MOTHER!!! That means EVERYONE in that vault is related to EVERYONE and they would regularly need to swap people EVERY TIME someone wanted to get married, but they made her “apply”.
Original Fallout as young teen was wicked cool raw and totally expanded on understanding of Mad Max world.

So if the last (arbitrary number here) 4 trades were between 31->32 and 31->33, that would mean people from 32 and 33 hadn't seen each other in 18 years.
Triannial means both three times a year and once every three years.

Maximus was meant to be unlikeable in the beginning. I think they could have done a bit better with his development, but all in all I think that was intended. On the bright side, we always complain about flat uninteresting characters, and all protagonists were anything but.

I tapped out after 1 episode of Fallout. The sequencing was just wrong. I agree that the first episode should have been some pre-bomb world building and then mostly time learning about life in the vault. Episode 2 should have been about finding the chaos left behind in the world outside. Introducting the Brotherhood of Steel that early robs them of their impact. They are a glimmer of hope and order in the chaos and doom of the wastes. Showing them before even a glimpse of anything outside the vault is just disjointed and jarring. It disrupts the feel and flow of the Fallout world from the games.
uh no, after fallout 2, brotherhood has always on the decline because of the ncr war, ncr kicked their teeth in, its kind of the reason of their decline, and the brotherhood despite getting reinforcements from the east, the blimp, theyre still a shadow of their former power, which is brought up later on
Maximus is a terrible actor, terrible motivations, terrible execution, terribly written, terrible artistic choices. Basically he drags down the whole season

When watching the show with my cousin, our reaction to him *ACTIVELY ATTEMPTING TO MURDER THADDEUS* was that he was just straight up the villain of the show now, and from that point on, there was the show's *opinion* of who Maximus was, and there was the solid, non-negotiable *FACTS* of who Maximus *ACTUALLY* was.
He is genuinely the second-worst person in the entire show, from a moral standpoint. But he IS the most *insufferably* evil person in the show, as the show seems completely unaware that he has ANYTHING to actually answer for.
Thaddeus was absolutely fucking right to shoot at Maximus in Episode 7 and it is a cosmic injustice that he *missed.*

I actually really enjoyed the Fallout series. I’m a fan of the games and appreciated a lot of elements. Walton as The Ghoul (Coop) stole the show for me. I think just going off the first episode, it’s hard for them to really judge how it all worked. Mauler was critical, but I’m curious to see if his opinion overall changed after viewing the series in whole
