How to get sparkling dishes from a dishwasher and remove stuck-on residue

If you have a lot of scale buildup on your dishes and in your shower, you probably have hard water. Adding 1/2 cup of vinegar to your dishwasher will release this scale, and allow your dishes to have that nice “hand washed” feeling again.
