  • This is the fourth in the series of Cool Contraption Guy's Practical KISS Projects. KISS is an acronym for Keep It Simple Stupid. In this video I show how to obtain spotless dishes from a dishwasher that uses hard water without the need for any commercial rinse aid.
    Video was filmed, narrated and edited by Tom Fox.

    THANK YOU we have very hard water and our glasses look like they've never been cleaned. Thank you again !!

    White vinegar is anti-bacterial and is also safe for human consumption. I just put the white vinegar in the soap dispenser in the dishwasher - and I don't use ANY soap. The dishes come out clean and spotless. But I do rinse the dishes well as I load the dishwasher. This 'no soap' plan might not work so well if giant gobs of food are stuck on the plates when loaded into the dishwasher.

    I use white vinegar in my dishwasher and laundry washer all the time. Here's another tip using white vinegar. After shampooing your carpet(s) add about 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water and rinse your carpet. The vinegar will remove remaining soap/detergent (and other good things...if you have fleas use a higher concentration of vinegar). If you don't remove all of the detergent/soap from the carpet you will have the problem of dirt quickly sticking to where soap residue remains.

      Rug shampoos don’t contain soap. Only synthetic surfactants. So less risk of deposits. Vinegar won’t hurt though.

      This was going to be my next UA-cam search! Thank you for the TIP! I will try this soon. My last of four furryson, "Cloud," is soon to pass onto heaven, so I'll wait a while before I clean my carpets (bOOHOO) for sentimental reasons!

    Works great for me since my rinse aid gizmo has been stuck on full for a year. It is apparently still pushing out some rinse aid solution into the dishwasher because it occasionally requires a refill but I could tell it was affecting how the dishes and glasses looked with this hard water. It's good to know that using some vinegar in the dishwasher is a good idea and can be done with each load. Thank you!

      Why thank god? If he cared he would miraculously clean dishes. You could put dirty dishes in your cabinets and they’d be clean when you opened the door again. Btw, which of the 125,000 gods invented by man are you talking about. Have a wonderful day!

    Please be aware that the dishwasher starts off by draining before taking in water. Therefor if u add vinegar to the wash, wait to pour it in until it starts taking in water, and skip the prewashes, to get the best result of the vinegar.

    • @theamazoner4075
      @theamazoner4075 5 років тому +17

      you should put vinegar into the rinse aid compartment because it will be added during the rinse rather then during the pre-wash so the rinse water is the last water to touch the dishes so soften that water to get shiny clean dishes

      Some are like that most are not….the dishwasher shown in this video is a Whirlpool powerclean millions of people have them and they do not drain first. Just like all older Whirlpool models including the first tall tub generation which includes the Maytags Kenmores and Kitchenaids, do not drain first before the pre rinse cycle. You just have to pay attention to what ur machine does when u hit start. Listen to the pump, listen to the drain pump, listen to the fill listen to the purge.

    You can put the vinegar in one of the Glass cups coz the dishwasher dump water before starting. We didn't see anything interesting.
