This dude does an amazing job at explaining stuff. Very clear talking. Cuts to the point without rambling
right!
Dont feel bad if you dont understand the space politics in this movie. 95% of the audience didnt either ,then fell a sleep half way though the movie, and then woke back up for the awesome lightsaber throwdown at the end.
i was super excited to start watching star wars for the first time and fully understanding it. i watched the original trilogy and loved every second of them, eight minutes into episode one and it was unbearable. this definitely makes me feel better
I was only 4 when this movie came out. Fell asleep and woke up when we were in the KFC drive thru
It’s true tho
That's exactly what happened when I watched it
Not me, I love this movie, it's not that long either
I am a fan of the prequels. Qui Gon Jinn is my favorite Jedi in this movie and I am so glad to have found an unbiased recap which doesn't slam every scene in the movie. Thank you to the maker of this video.
When I first watched this movie I didn't get it
Jar-Jar was a sith lord the whole time. Duh
This comment has 69 likes so I won’t like it.
I had to listen to the Weird Al song to understand what the fuck was going on.
THANK YOU I suffer so much, nobody understands that I want to be a fan but can’t understand a word they say and have to repeat everything they say .
*90% of people after watching TLJ*
"Jar Jar joins his people in battle, despite being inept at combat." OHHH my god. What a very fine way to summarize this movie.
episode 9 is coming and i'm now rewatching the series in machete order. thank you for this
Too bad that these dont fit in with the new shit storyline
I already watched Episode 9
Bubbly Blue did anyone ask?
1 2 and 9 are equally trash movies
Lets take a moment of silence for all those Gungans who died in that epic war.
yes rip brothers 😔✊🏽
*Battle
Rest in Peace Gungans
Sweet, I watched this movie over and over again when I was younger on vhs. Good memories.
There I just did my book report 😂
Zay : lol 😂
But it’s not a book
AYO SAME
@@starwarsstuff1759 but I bet the teacher doesn’t know that 😂
@@leoniebird3151 good point I’ll admit
The key to doing these is understanding what exactly are the key points in the movie that will be important later and I think you got all of them. Good recap!
When someone tells me that they want to watch the star wars movies I literally tell them to watch 4 5 6, then this recap, and the recap of 2, and last watch 3 because its the movie that saved the prequels
Thanks my guy... As a prequels fan it was kinda hard to reprocess everything that happened in every star wars movie in my mind, at last I'm not confused anymore
This dude literally just read the wikipieida word for word
😂😂
After rewatching this movie I couldn’t believe that young anakin became Vader he was so nice
This is my first time watching star wars and I was so sad the whole time knowing that. I wish Samuel L Jackson and yoda stood their ground and said hell no to Anakin 😢
Thanks for the excellent recap! Very easy to understand alongside the visuals of the films
i am trying so hard to become a fan (late i know😅) of star wars but these movies are so confusing, I barely got my head around rogue one. Im watching phantom menace for the first time and i have to keep watching the recap whilst i watch the movie so i understand what’s going on.
same
Same 🤣🤣🤣
@Chris Whitty tf? what does your gender have to do with understanding star wars?
The Original trilogy is the best to watch first because a lot of concepts are introduced and explained there and not in the prequel trilogy. I've heard that 4,5,1,2,3,6 is a great order to watch them as well.
Watch the original trilogy first and then the prequels. It would be more interesting and make sense.
Just got covid, and wanna watch all star wars again, thank u for making it possible to skip ep. 1 👊🏼
its been 2 weeks, hope you're doing better now
@@jonah1143 im better now, only had a sore throat and one day of headache
Wholesome comments. You love to see it 🥰 Glad you’re feeling better Lucas!
@@LucasOliveira-od8pv that’s great lucas 🙏🏼✨
Hey man hope you're doing well
Still remember this was the only movie I ever pre-ordered a ticket for in 8th grade lol I actually enjoyed it a lot
Wow such a long time ago I felt the same way with the last Jedi lol, it wasn’t too good for me
@@spencersparks2335 I still have good memories of that first movie and I think I will always like it because of it
Damn so from the beginning palpatine orchestrated all of these turn of events by sending jar jar binks
I mean... yeah basically. Jar Jar is the key to all of this.
Yes i did, you fools
@@MoviesinMinutes why is the key? I don´t get it.
@@jguillermooliver Jar Jar is a sith spy.
THANK YOU I suffer so much, nobody understands that I want to be a fan but can’t understand a word they say and have to repeat everything they say .
I envy your lack of nostaliga bias.
☹️ it’s not my fault, it’s my peanut brain
i get you so much
You Made The Movie Sound Complex
Straight to the point. I appreciate this.
I'm determined to get through all of Star Wars (I'm 16 and somehow never watched any of the franchise), I got bored 40 minutes from the end of this one and my friend said to skip the first two and just watch recap videos...
I'm still confused after this tbh
i’m still confused why phantom menace is called episode 1 when new hope is the 1st movie? do i sound dumb saying that 😅
Moe Lester yeah that actually does thank you, i thought new hope was first called episode 4 and i was like that’s really random haha
@@TruthfulOnee That's your opinion, I personally loved Episode I.
@@TruthfulOnee Again, that's an opinion. I personally like episode 3 the best, but I know people like Episode 1 as their favorite Star Wars film
revenge of the sith is probably my favourite star wars movie
I just watched this film. had no idea what happened. mostly didn’t pay attention but the grasp of the plot from the beginning (before being bored) I got had been two cool dudes trying to help settle a trade dispute. at the end I tried to tune in again to realise that this was actually the main plot rip
Oh anakin brought balance alright, considering the power balance between the jedi and sith at the time that is
Thank you :,> I go to a camp (Not overnight) and our homework was to watch the movie, but I didn't have time. Thank the Lord for this video
Thank you, I have been watching clone wars recently and realized I should have watched episode 1 before clone wars, but I already watched it like 5 times so I just looked this up
Get this guy to 1 mil asap
I recently rewatched this movie. It was great
Rewatching the movies again but ive started/seen this one so many times. Also played it so many times in the lego games this recap will do just fine 🤣
gosh duel of fates "darth maul" is so epic i get shivers from listening the beggining of it
John William's is a legend.
this guy is 100% reccomend
Qui-Gon was the coolest jedi. Dont @ me.
@@SuperTDSmith SHUT UP.
Agreed
Phantom menace is my first movie in the Star Wars franchise and I didn’t know the prequels were so hated among the fans 😭 I enjoyed it along with the second “episode”
Thanks! Saved me from sitting through this again lol. Bring on Episode 2 :-)
Top 10 worst decisions ever
No.1 :Electing palpatine as senator
Man, this was better than the movie. Literally the plot makes no sense.
Thanks for the recap!
You’re most welcome!
I love how this recap completely bypasses the Padme bait and switch that served no purpose
Awesome recap!
Thanks. Wanted to watch all the star wars films/TV in chronological order, but gave up 40 mins into episode 1. Now I can just skip it, yay!
The Saga Begins by Weird Al is the song version of the recap 🙂
Jar Jar joins his people in combat. Despite being inept in warfare. LOL
About the nicest way you can say it... HAH
Thank you so much!!I watched this movie 2 hours ago and I like it alot I think it deserves more than 6.5 but I didn't get the politics stuff and beacuse of that I needed to find a recap to understand the movie's story better but apart from politics, the story was beautiful, meeting Anakin, seeing Obi Wan and qui gon each other fighting, and the fighting was amazing.
Keep up!!!
Someone help me is this the first movie? I was watching “A new hope” and darth Vader was already in it at the start of the movie and I know that he wasn’t supposed to be in it that early.. am I wrong?
the original trilogy starts with movie 4 (a new hope), so it is after the prequel-movies 1-3. this video shows the summary of movie 1, which in the star wars universe is earlier, yet later filmed. So part 4 has vader in it, because it plays after the prequels. If you want to understand the story from a perspective of time, you should start with the prequels (episodes 1-3) and then continue with the original trilogy (4-6) and not start with movie 4 (a new hope). But it is also possible to watch it that way (4-6 and then 1-3), it just comes all down to your preference! Have fun
@@mainstream7581 I would watch Rogue One, 4, 5, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9
@@bluepearl_22 that's wrong
@@cameronstovall2993 shut the fuck up
@@bluepearl_22 I'd put rogue one after episode six. It's a good movie that provides some great context to the rest of the story/world of star wars, but isn't really connected to the main story, If you have time, throw the clone wars series in between episode 2 and 3. Not necessary, but it's a great show and brings some amazing nuance to Anakin. I'd personally just skip 7,8 and 9, but pre sequals, I usually just said (when describing the order to others) that episode one is optional and can be watched in the very end. I personally don't like it and won't watch it while marathoning (I watch this instead lol), but there's always room to watch it as a little extra if you want to. I feel like the sequels fit in the same category.
George spent so much time of special effects that he never took the time to explain political dynamics and character motivations. Why exactly is the Trade Federation staging a blockade?? George never even bothered with that!
They were put up to it by Palpatine as an excuse to have the republic create a clone army which he knew later would be soldiers for the empire.
Malcolm Espinosa so how did palapatine convince them?
@@gingfreecss3467 it doesn't really say that I recall but it looks like it was Darth Sidious that was strong arming them to do it. Trade federation side spoke to cloaked hologram of Palpatine, there with version, hooded and creepy, not as senator.
They were protesting against the trade taxes. It’s on the opening crawl…
The Federation were upset by an increase of taxes on their trade routes. Under Palpatine's advice, they invaded Naboo, which Palpatine used to get himself elected chancellor.
Who else is watching this before playing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga ?
ha ha same
Wow Bro. Amazing Job
The death of Darth Maul was kinda funny
I still don't understand the antagonist's motivation. Palpatine advised the federation to invade Naboo knowing the Republic would be too incompetent to stop it, thus motivating Queen Amidala to vote non confidence opening the path to his ascendance as leader of the Senate? I know the force gives you intuition so I'm okay with it if I'm understanding this correctly, but there is no way in hell I'd come up with this conclusion without this synopsis lol.
Yes, thats precisely it. In fact, SPOILER ALERT, all of the prequel movies are based around the execution of darth sidius / palpatine plan to create a galactic empire. The clone wars, his kidnapping in episode III, turning anakin to the dark side, etc are all just chess moves by his part...
The prequels are less about Anakin's turn and more about Palpatine's genius as the best villain in cinema history.
God what a movie uhhh I love it
Thanks, i forgot what the fat tomb mean mice was like
Thank you
Well done sir
Thank u for this bc i didn’t not get the movie at all
Man waited for star wars
1. Why did Darth Sidious want to take over Naboo initially?
2. Why did Qui-gon ask Watto, "Would you like to discuss it with the Hutts?" after Watto said he couldn't take Ani?
My son and I started watching part one last night and we're hooked. Hoping to finish it tonight after my younger son falls asleep.
1. Darth Sidious is originally from Naboo and is very privy to its political systems, so it was easy for him to exploit.
2. The Hutts (specifically Jabba) are the crime lords that control Tatooine so any major disputes among the citizens would be resolved by them. The Hutts are brutal and cruel crime lords, so Watto wants to avoid dealing with them and Qui-Gon knows this.
All my friends are really into Star Wars, and I got annoyed at not understanding what they were talking about, so I got Disney+ and decided to watch all the Star Wars movies, but a lot of characters (especially in this movie) are impossible to understand unless you rewind multiple times. Sometimes I had no idea what was happening and I had to have the god damn shmoop summary of the movie ready to refer to lmao. Are these really supposed to be kids’ movies?
i literally paused every 5 minutes to refer to the shmoop summary, it’s definitely not the easiest the understand
What does blockading mean and what is the trade federations role meant to be politically
Thank you for creating these. What is the music you use at the very end of the video?
Shmee lol what a name
The look of Darth Maul made me not want to invest a single second of my value lifetime into this franchise. Thank god I gave it a second chance 10 years later.
I’ve decided to do a marathon of Star Wars in chronological order (including series) but I just didn’t wanna watch this one again😅 I like the prequels, they are my favorite, I just don’t rlly like this one tho
I have yet to see a Star Wars movie. My son wants to go see the new one, but I am afraid we'll both be lost if we don't check out the first
movies.
You dont need to see the first 2. Just see 3,4,5,6,7,8,9.
I didn’t get it before, and I honestly still don’t think I get it. Like, why is the trade federation invading Naboo? I know at the beginning it said something about taxes, but why does that mean Naboo has to be invaded? And why does Palpatine care? It almost seemed to me like Palpatine set off a random meaningless chain of events that would result in him getting the opportunity to become Chancellor
I am confusion.
I hate Palpatine with passion
These videos are perfect for people with ADHD
I dont even remember Zod in this movie
When is next coming

Why did the trade federation go to war against naboo 🥲. Can someone say this
We're all here because we don't want to sit through that god awful film again
Lmao it is indeed my least favorite film from the series
Honestly, probably the worst film in the saga. (No, the Disney trilogy doesn’t exist)
It's the worst of the Star Wars movie but it's not like it's impossible to sit through. It's still quite fun.
Meh Rise Of Skywalker is worse
Jar Jar Binks Came before all the Important Starwars characters that's why I like him
I just don't feel like watching those 2 movies lmao
Don't you get Copyright Strikes ??
Sometimes yeah
I always forget why I hated this movie. Then I'm reminded of Jar Jar.
I’m here bc I don’t wanna watch episode 1 😂 especially when anakin is a kid 😂
Ahem, darth maul isnt darth sidius' apprentice , he is darth sidious' assasin , because in episode 1 darth sidious was still the apprrntice of the powerfull sith lord darth plagues the wise
Yes, but Darth Maul was being trained secretly as his apprentice at this time.
My question is how do we even know that anakin is 9 and padme 14 if it was never once mentioned in this whole film?
Because we know from other Star Wars media what year anakin and padme are born, and what year Phantom Menace takes place. It never says specifically in the movie though, you are correct.
Aashrut sabai hera hai
Phantom menace. Its the same with covid. Its a phantom menace.
its so confusing bruh
rewatching all star wars movies but wanna skip episode 1 thanks
Also Skip 7,8,9,Solo Then

Iono the film is boring
best Star Wars film ever :)
Not true
I hate people that hate on this movie and 2 and 3 just because they are obsessed with the ogs and cant accept sumn new
Or maybe because they’re just legitimately bad
@@matthewm47 I'd like to think otherwise
I think it has some problems but u still enjoy it
If you grew up starting your Star Wars viewing with the original Episodes IV-VI, Episodes I-III are unwatchable. It’s like watching some alternate universe perversion utilizing only the most basic concepts of the originals. I tried to rewatch them after 15 years and could never make it thru more than 30min of any of them. Wooden acting and graphics designed by hipster gamesters locked in a room with a mountain of cocaine. Just horrid.
Who else had to put this at 0.25 speed
Fucking what?
Wow your recap copies Wikipedia's plot word for word, and upon watching your other videos I found those do to. I kinda wish you would have used your own words at least. I'm bummed because I was really liking your channel.

Maybe play it back at 0.75x speed!
Watching this because I want to finally see starwars, but god damn is this movie unbearable to watch. I couldn't do more than 20 minutes of it with that JarJar Binks mf.
