The MCU has stagnated since the release of Endgame.
I still stand by my opinion that they should’ve taken a five year break before starting the Multiverse Saga.
Agree so much with you.
Looking back Endgame was kinda mediocre tho
@@chasehedges6775 The title is fitting.
They stagnated by Infinity War, Endgame was already showing rot from the moment the Female Avengers Scene was shown.
@@maylabrown4584 whats wrong with the female avengers?
@@maylabrown4584 Infinity War is where it should have ended
They made Antman, the only Avenger designed from his inception to be a funny character, serious, and then they made Thor, the only Avenger designed from his inception to be a serious character, funny. The tones of Love and Thunder and Quantumania is literally backwards.
Cry me a fucking river, don’t watch it then 😂

I agree with antman but not Thor. Thor Ragnarok was a breath of fresh for a character that was otherwise, extremely boring. Seriously, tell me anything that happened in the first and second Thor movie that made Thor interesting.
@@tommyok1232 ...he said Love and Thunder for a reason
@Tyler Merklin there is no love and thunder movie in ba sing se
It's somehow both creatively designed and generically written. Jonathan Majors really elevates very weak material. The trailers make it seem like it would be about Scott trying to get back the time he lost with Cassie but that idea never really manifests. The third act is really boring and the faceless cgi army is one of the worst. Also we really needed some Luis
Jonathan Majors deserves better
Yea the trailer actually implied a better arc than the movie wtf
Fr, what happened to Luis?
#ReleaseTheLuisCut
Spy Kids 3 is also creatively designed but is somehow better written.
Honestly I still believe that the reason Marvel has gotten so low today is because of just the sheer amount of content they are making at once, like there is absolutely no time to breathe in between the movies and on top of that there are a ton of shows constantly being cranked out on Disney+. Especially considering how small of a deadline the CGI team gets and it means that clearly a lot of the writing choices don't get second-guessed.
I do have a *tiny* bit of hope that there’ll be some good things beyond GotG3. It was announced recently that Kevin Feige would be slowing down the production of future Marvel products. So, maybe we’ll get products that are at least a point higher than a 7/10.
If that doesn’t happen, then I’ll just see what James Gunn has to offer with the DCU.
wow hot take...
The disneyification of marvel
especially because it forces the movies to be made simultaneously, meaning they can't connect in any meaningful way
I'ts not by the amount of content, but because they know at this point that there are lots of people that are gonna go to the movies to watch whatever the hell they put in front of them.
SOMETHING shouldve happened in this movie. Either Scott should've died, or Kang should have just straight up escaped, trapping Scott in the Quantum Realm. The fact that they just went ahead, defeated Kang and then go home with zero consequence is ridiculous. This movie didn't set Kang up as a villain that should be feared, he got his ass kicked by Ant man.
He kicked antmans azz. Wasp came in and shot at an defenseless Kang
Man, the first Iron Man feels like a century ago. Back when writing was awesome and you could just tell a good story. It's a shame those days are over now.

There is still enormously impactful and beautiful writing in film. It just isn't in the MCU or, truly, any series. When you are guaranteed more films, there's no need to push to be exemplary.
The Russo Bros made the MCU great
If this was supposed to be the Phase 5 kickoff, they kicked, and tripped on the ball and got devoured by carpenter ants whilst lying on the ground.

I personally really liked this movie I thought the story was a little bland but the visuals are just amazing in 3D and kang IS A GOOD CHARACTER. People who say they did him dirty need to check themselves cuz he was threatening and shows his potential.
Just use RT when it supports their predisposition, but now , not even RT is bowing to it - must've noticed that bag got lighter and they jumped off the wagon - Even the critics are dissing it.
@Secret Agent: Dixon Miaynis they did, in the movie
You highlighted my major gripe with Wasp in this film. She barely does anything in this movie or has any defining characteristics. If you replaced her with a plank of wood, no one would even notice.
I think this film was more to introduce new characters even though they did that not the best either. I mean Cassie was on the mains but her character wasn’t fleshed or well written/acted, how can someone how’s supposedly I genius that builds scientific feats from scraps in her garage/basement act so stupid/ uncalculated. Tbh all the “smart” characters seemed really stupid to me in the first act 🫠 but I suppose it moved the story forward…
Honestly a plank of wood would be way more useful, I can actually see it being used to help them in some situations.
@@MaknaeUlzzang Cassie’s a dumbass. She takes no accountability until ant man is about to risk his life. She doesn’t understand anything or who she hurt. @HarryDrone god tier cliff hanger, lol. I am actually terrified of you.
I remember when Marvel would make feel good action movies with quality, time and pure effort that was clearly there. Unfortunately, Disney had other plans
I don’t see my interest in Disney ever coming back like that. They served their purpose. They are a thing of the past for me.
Disney went from being one of the best movie studios with some of the most original stories and animations for so many Decades to just ruining it all and destroying their company in a matter of a few Years, honestly it's pretty impressive, reminds me of a story of a very old Roman city.
Are you serious?
Marvel has always been about over-saturation, there's a reason they went nearly bankrupt in the 1990's, their acquisition by Disney was like a match made in hell for their soulless, fancy suits...
Besides, stuff like The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2 were just as bad as Thor 4 even before Disney got it's grubby hands on the brand, but nostalgia is truly a heck of a drug, huh?
@@michaelriverside1139 they're nowhere near as bad as the modern movies, yeah they're bad but that's just due to the limitations of the medium at the time, few good superhero movies were made beforehand and yeah the writing and effects wasn't the best, but back then they were still trying to just tell a story, they're watchable and have their own good points, unlike so much of the filth that is made nowadays which don't try to tell a good story and instead pander and manipulate and just butcher so much of what could've been good to the point that it becomes unbearable.
Of course it's all down to opinion, someone could easily hate every movie from Marvel or love every movie they've ever made but objectively the first few movies were just far better and more enjoyable than 95% of the stuff Marvel has put out in Phase 4, literally going from actually trying to make quality to not even trying and making quantity over quality.
Blame ESG and the culture war. Just have to wait it out .. watch Yellowstone, 1923, Top Gun Maverick, Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning and horror films like (M3GAN)
I will never forgive the MCU higher-ups for not believing in Edgar Wright as director for the first Ant-Man because of "creative differences"
Bro imagine the Ant-Man 3 we COULD HAVE gotten if Wright stuck around (you know, if he intended to make 3 of these lol), it would have went so hard
too many shit people with shit agendas in the industry ruining the potential creativity of real creative people.
What MCU has become right now, I'd say Wright absolutely dodged the bullet eventhough Ant Man could've been a far better and more unique movie in his hands
The MCU formula is what made him stressed out, like he said, he wanted to make a Marvel movie but they didn't want to make an Edgar Wright movie
Edgar Wright is my second favorite director of all time, and even I don’t think he could’ve saved this from happening. Sam Raimi couldn’t, and he’s one of my favorites as well
That’s only if they didn’t force their formula to Wright if he was still directing
MCU really ruins the only good directors they have
Why is it that whenever a Marvel movie turns out good, Marvel fans are always like "It's the best movie ever!" and make it out to be some deep piece of cinema, but when a Marvel movie turns out bad the response is always "It's not that deep"?
Literally I haven't seen any marvel fans say that about any of the movies since maybe endgame and infinity war lol

It was an okay movie never really been fussed about ant man but it’s definitely the best of the 3. But I do think this was more a stepping stone to lead into bigger things. If you’re investment into the mcu the movie probably seemed better then it probably was (example my boyfriend is a die hard marvel fan) but if you look at it by itself it was average, things definitely could be improved like some main characters and continuity but I think it did its purpose for future mcu projects and introducing the new big bad

Kevin Feige really needs to rethink hiring all these Rick and Morty writers. Giving them the keys to the kingdom of the Multiverse Saga seems genuinely insane to me.
He lost his passion and it shows. He lets them do whateve, collects his check and goes home
@@TerryAE agree. Kevin doesn't care anymore.
Is is because Rick And Morty got shit in Season 3??
What’s funny about this is that they weren’t supposed to be given control over the multiverse saga mostly. It was actually supposed to be James Gunn who helped curate the multiverse saga pretty much entirely. But he left, so I guess this was the best they could do without whatever ideas he had.
It’s also worth noting too that Feige apparently has been relieved of most control over the mcu and is rumored to not be happy because of it. I don’t think he lost his passion for it, the corporate side is just rearing it’s ugly head more than ever because they have a bigger hand in it creatively now.
Commenting on every video I see
IT's very funny to me that you kept repeating it during the video but the phrase "Make me care" is THE ultimate mantra they teach to film students, right from the begining. My script and narrative teacher told us in the 1st class, "It doen't matter how wacky it feels, or how cheap it's made, the only thing that matters it's if you can make the audience care about it".
You know what I liked about Marvel? Its not that they were truly inspiring, mind-boggling films. They knew that they were crowdpleasing, high concept mega blockbusters at the end of the day, but they still put in effort and soul into each project. So that both normies and "critics" coupd look at this and say, "wow, that was pretty good and more than a cookie cutter superhero movie." But as time goes on, its feels like Marvel is just going through the motions, releasing thing after thing and praying something sticks. There's no passion or heart anymore. It's just souless schlop.
Phase 1 is amazing, I still watch it over and over again. I don't know what the hell happened. Who is choosing these writers? It is possible to both make a good movie and set up future movies.
Agreed
Agreed (although phase 3 is great too)
Disney happened b sure (either that or just realizing they were too big to fail during endgame)
Phase 1 is the weakest and has some pretty bad movies too like Iron Man 3 and both Hulk movies and Thor 2 and even phase 2 had its rough patches buy every phase had its rough patches, they were still unique and well crafted and fun to watch, now it's filled with nothing but hit garbage with movies gradually getting worse.
tbh up to endgame is where the mcu was at its best
At this point I'm more hyped for what James Gunn has in store for the next DC movies than anything out of the MCU.

@Bungie Crimes Yep, lol, you dont hire Bill Murray unless you WANT dripping sarcasm that borders on a 4th wall break. He's awesome in Wes Anderson films, like Life Aquatic. Ironically I think they went too big with Ant-Man. I enjoyed the first movie, and I think they nailed the comedy in that movie. I really enjoyed the heist-like story with Luis' narrarations. It was a full on comedy, with an emotional element as well with Scott trying to be in Cassie's life. I think they should've stuck with that instead of going insanely big and whacky like in Antman & Wasp and Quantumania.

i am now convinced that the best movies are made with limited resources
Yeah I'm not even planning on watching this movie, and at this point 80% of the Internet agrees that Endgame should have been either the end of the MCU, or a reset, the beginning of new heroes. The fact that Endgame dealed with such high stakes doomed the series.
If anyone has read Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson (no spoilers), you know what I mean: The first three books gradually increase the scale of the action, until the ending of the third, when the conflict covers an entire world. So, what Sanderson did for the fourth book, was to reset it: We skip a few centuries, we're given new characters, and we start over. The stakes are lowered so they can be increased at a different rate.
Instead, we got Endgame, and immediately after we are given Eternals and Multiverse of Madness. We're talking whole planets, whole dimensions. It's overwhelming and we kind of lose the sense of tension, because everything is insanely big and nothing really matters anymore. Really miss those lower scale superhero films. Sam Raimi's Spiderman is great because it's super personal, and the stakes are relatively low. The first Iron Man film is iconic, the first Captain America film works great, AND the first Ant-Man film holds up on its own and its full of creative scenes.
Marvel pretends we've been going higher and higher but we've been stuck on the same ceiling for four years now.
Then don't we don't care
They could EASILY do high stakes but they're tryna speed run it now. Like they're scared we will lose interest but in reality if they simply made good product building to a good high stake finish again we wouldn't care. The fact this is how Kang is introduced to the movie sector of the mcu is ass
They did not need to stop after endgame if they still have dozens of comics to adapt
I remember seeing a Marvel fans cope comment in an Instagram comments section on a post ab how the new Modok looked bad. They tried to say that "That's how he's supposed to look!!" No, it isn't. Modok is supposed to be a wrinkly ass raisin that's actually somewhat intimidating. Yea, Modok in the comics has his goofy moments. But, when he's actually a villain, he can be menacing and really great
Mike Douglas saying he would only return if he could die, had me spit out my drink.
I'm getting really annoyed of every marvel movie coming out, me loving it, and everybody online hating it. Like do I just have low standards?

If their is one good thing about this movie it's Kang. His actor did a a great job with what he had and I do look forward to seeing his return. i think this is the first movie that i actually walked out of the theater feeling depressed about how bad it was… i am a huge fan of antman and the first two films are really special to me. i like the way they feel like their own thing and more down to earth than the rest of the mcu in a way. it feels like they really took away the magic in this third one. they took away the loveable side characters and gave us a cassie who we know nothing about- and they definitely didn’t give us any time to get to know her. and they immediately throw us into this fantastical situation without much lead up. i hate what they did with darren by making him a straight up joke. this movie was honestly disrespectful.

Trying to figure out how Kang got all that tech but he didnt have handcuffs to prevent Cassie from escaping, then went and did the same thing again with Janet, just made him look incompetent
What I don't about ant man is that he doesn't feel like a hero. He feels like a civilian who has access to the broken technology and he helps the real heroes. He's an avenger by name only. If I'm in danger and it's ant man I'd feel anxious and not relief
The Russo Bros are responsible for good directed Mcu films
I don’t think Scott should’ve died, since I still think there can be more done with his character, but rather maybe Hank dying to push Scott’s character forward - and Scott getting trapped in the QR
GOTG 3: “I know what I have to do but idk if I have the strength to do it”
They got too comfortable with CGI.
Quirky with no soul + overabundance of CGI is the exact description of Love and Thunder as well, looks like they've thrown out any successful formulas and replaced them with garbage.
All these marvel properties feel like introductions for plot points that don’t go anywhere
*don't go anywere YER
I feel like they should have never shown modok’s face. I wanted him to be serious and scary.
he looked so damn stupid in this movie. he was scarier in the phineas and ferb special and he literally sang about being a villain in that one
They sure did sideline Ant-Man, the Wasp, and the Quantum Realm in a film titled Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Argh! I’m tired to the old “oh the movies are for children, stop complaining about it” excuse that these idiots use to defend terrible writing and poorly paced story and characters.
You have puss in boots 2, a movie written and aimed at children, that is very well written and well thought out, with messaging that not just children but adults can understand.
Marvel truly has become just a circus act that you see to get entertained for a few hours then it’s back to the boring old world, only now the circus is run down and a lot of the performers are just phoning it in or just don’t care about putting a spectacle.
Werewolf by Night and Special Presentations are a great idea to continue
Imagine if Edgar Wright had been able to create his vision for the original movie.
I feel like when he left the project that was the turning point for quality in Marvel movies.
It showed Disney didn’t care for vision and creativity but instead wanted a cookie cutter formula to use with all of their movies going forward.
If edgar wright directed the 1st movie it could have been the best mcu movie of all time!!!! Ant Man will be the king of solo movies in the mcu!!! On par with Captain America and the GOTG
If antman was starting his trilogy today they would probably give right more freedom
@@arturocastroverde3349Iron Man is better than Captain America
@@thegoodreylo4749 captain america have better movies
@@arturocastroverde3349 Iron Man 1 and 3 are amazing.
Iron Man 2 sucks though.
The movie really felt like it was written by AI. It had all the typical aspects of a marvel movie. But no actual soul to it.
"One particular problem with Quantumania is that so much so they wanted it to look like Guardians of the Galaxy."
i won't lie i was the whole movie praying for kang to win
The first Antman was a pretty fun and heartfelt movie, and I love how it was a more small scale heist movie instead of "oh no the universe is in danger again" troupe that these movies fall into now. Marvel desperately needs a break....and to hire good writers who know how to actually write good and likable characters in a plot that's interesting.
I’m just praying they get someone really good to handle Kang in the future. he’s a villain that deserves some quality writing
Thanos tried to warn us and we didn't listen
Ant-Man 1 was good due to Edgar Wright's involvement. Once Payton Reed got to build MCU movies from the ground up, it fell down like a house of cards.
Highlights: Paul Rudd and Jonathan Majors played their roles so well I genuinely loved them.
Movie looked really pretty.
Lowlights *spoiler warning*: Kathryn Newton had like ZERO range with her character, same facial expression for every scene except for the one where she was getting choked out.
And everything just sorta seemed like it was happening not because of logic but because the writers wanted it to be that way. Like bro has all of his powers and has destroyed multiple universes but 3 regular dudes and some ants take down a multiversal threat? And Kang just stopped using his powers after blasting through people just to 1v3 the heroes and then only used them again to protect himself from some damn ants. Which btw didn't make sense as to why they were the same size as everyone else who travelled with them when they all had to use their suits to shrink multiple times. Like why are they not the equivalency of ant sized to them
Yes so much potential was wasted they should hire good writers too
Im with you on Guardians of the Galaxy 3, I definitely see that film if its good. After that, I'm done with MARVEL.
Why am i only hearing about this film today, it’s a pretty bad sign if I forget it’s entire existence until now
I honestly think they took it too far in this one, it was way too ambitious making them meet another species in the quantum realm
I don’t care for this whole multiverse concept both in the MCU and in general.
@@bighand1530it removes any stakes and tension from the story
@@bikramarora1819 That’s a big reason. But not the only reason.
Realistically, mcu shoulda stopped at endgame...
Ironically, I got an ad for the movie right before this
I knew this was going to be a bad movie when they were going to introduce the next Thanos-sized villain in a fucking Ant-Man movie.
Having like 5 TV shows and 2 3-hour films and not a single peep of the new villain until a literal ant-man movie shows how little they care about pacing anymore. Just big CGI shit blaring on the screen like a rollercoaster, but without the thrill
They didn’t, they introduced him in Loki LOL, y’all need to stop finding factually incorrect ways to hate on these movies!
Wait. There's an antman 2?
I feel like before the MCU was just focused on telling stories set in the same universe, now they’re more focused on trying to recapture the success of Infinity War and Endgame. They’re churning out content by the boat load so the next big event, Secret Wars, is an even bigger crossover than infinity war. I mean, it feels sorta strange that near the beginning of phase 4, when they revealed the slate, they already had plans for phase 6 and it just so happened to include a two part movie event involving Kang and Secret Wars. I also think it’s a bit too early to go into the multiverse stuff, that really should’ve been left for a future saga, I feel like they should’ve focused on something more near the scale of the Infinity Saga, like Celestials since they’ve been teased for so long but haven’t really done anything notable in the MCU besides some lore based stuff.
its as if they have realised they can slap the marvel logo on anything and people will go to see it. its so upsetting cause its like they have stopped caring.
Saw it last night, if you watched the trailer you watched the movie
I just watched this movie and it was okay, but I’m not sure if I’d see it again. Kang was 100% the best part of the film. The rebels just seemed very thrown together and we know almost nothing of them and I don’t understand how we’re supposed to feel for them when we meet them for like 5 minutes. Kang killed everyone with one blast but once we get to the main characters that power is gone and he uses his regular power. Casey just felt like she was whining the whole time and felt very misplaced in the plot. Like they are setting her up for the new Avengers but other than that she’s only there to move the plot along.
Exactly what I thought and got annoyed at. Cassie was so annoying that I was hoping she would die and Kang could wave his hand and control everyone and had centuries of technology but in the final act he gets beaten by ants that evolved over centuries but still wouldn’t be on his level. Then loses in a fist fight to antman
Love your videos Nick!! Looking forward to the next video!!!
Honestly, I kinda missed the tone the MCU movies had from Phase 1 and maybe Phase 2.
Even though I've never seen those movies in theaters as a kid beside Guardians of the Galaxy, watching the first few movies in Disney Plus makes me feel more nostalgic and entertained than the newer ones coming out. Nowadays I feel like every single mcu movie after Endgame coming out starts to feel more boring for me besides Spiderman No Way Home and I don't know if I should continue watching anymore.
I hear ya
To be fair it was heavily scaled back because of COVID. But I do regret buying IMAX tickets to see it
Bro I'm just imagining him talking into his mic saying "oh damn look at those beefy shoulders oh wow"
Supposedly a producer or the director of this movie said there is not a roadmap for phase 5.
It is starting to seem more plausible the rumor that says that phse 1 to 3 were really Favreu's plan and KF just took credit about it being the top producer, seeing how atrocious have been phase 4 and now phase 5
I think the biggest problem is how nothing ends up having weight or consequence in the universe. Modok is inherently silly but in a movie you could make a body horror threat that’s fun to watch. Idk everything is a wasted opportunity now
I mean I liked it but it has some issues
I wished they spent a bit more time on the surface talking about how Scott’s life changed. Maybe a Luis recap on the past 5 years
I wish they spent more time I would’ve waited for it
Ant man 1 is unironically one of my favorite MCU films and this did an alright job finishing the trilogy
Hopefully, with Bob Iger back in charge, things will get better for the MCU soon.
nope with bob iger in charge it finna be fucked
Bruh Bob iger is the reason Disney is the way they are right now 🤡
Clown 🤡
Also I just want to mention, I saw the third movie without ever having seen the other two. I was with a big group of people who were in the same boat. When antman and wasp touch heads at the end (I idk their names and idc) I and literally almost everyone else in the theater was like "wait are they together?" I had literally no idea that they were a couple and that the wasp was the kid's dad. When ever he said something like "If your mom was here" I literally thought that she was dead. The movie gave no hints that they were romantically involved besides that one head touch scene where they didn't even kiss. I just wanted to mention that since it was a weird thing that I feel like people who saw antman 1 and 2 would've have noticed.
Like I don't think they even held hands once?1!? And their married?!
One review said "exhilerating" The only time I was exhilerated was when Kang was on screen.
I haven't seen the movie but the thing that annoys me the most is that the actress thats the daughter of scott got changed?? Like in endgame it was someone else?? What happened!
