I must admit and repent for my sins I watched an entire 50 episode long play-through of this game (mostly consisting of half hour long episodes) in preparation for the Jello play-through and all I can say to summarize is god is it the most anti-Jello game I’ve ever seen.
I'm hoping for another ISAT or skies tier game soon after this bc i am also not enjoying this alongside him. Not to the same degree, but just that it's irritatingly boring. And this playthrough seems like it's gonna be long
Your Kiyotaka voice is the second funniest voice I heard given to this character. The first one was some guys voicing him like Rolf from Ed, Edd and Eddy in their playthrough.
Honestly it’s such a shame that Danganronpa is so… Danganronpa… because I remember watching a let’s play of it like ten years ago when I was bright-eyed and naive and having my mind totally blown in the first case when they showed that Leon disposed of evidence by baseball throwing it, because it gave me the impression that each of the cases was gonna have some borderline impossible twist to it that you’d need to match to the fact that literally everyone there is (within the world of the game at least) supposed to be literally peak human if not superhuman within a certain field and that seemed like such a cool concept for a murder mystery game to me… And then the rest of Danganronpa was, y’know, Danganronpa.
@ Honestly? Not really. I know *some* of the murders from the second game, and really most of them are just the person’s field getting them better access to something that lets them do their murder. Maybe I’m being unreasonable, but I feel like Danganronpa kinda treats each person’s Ultimate Whatever like a superpower when they’re just talking about it or doing random inconsequential things, but then when they try to actually do a murder they rarely ever actually do things like Leon’s trick with the incinerator that take advantage of the fact that they’re improbably good at something to the point of being able to pull off something that’d be impossible for anyone else! The game sets itself up to have an interesting gimmick of people doing weird things with their own personal gimmick to fabricate or destroy evidence in a way that’d throw the characters and/or player off their trail initially because how would anyone be able to do that, and then the pieces fall into place and you realize “oh, this is, in and of itself, evidence that they’re the killer because nobody else would be able to do this.” And they just completely ignore that fact for most of the game. Like again maybe I’m asking too much of Danganronpa but I guess I’m just disappointed that they didn’t do any more crazy stuff like the incinerator, because that would’ve been really interesting.

As a Taka fan, I feel bad for him. I have seen many let's players go through this game and I have only found one that didn't hate him. He just has no social skills, he's not a bad guy.
Don't feel bad, he's a fictional character, he will never know what people think about him in this world :^) I like Kiyotaka too, but I 100 percent understand why some people can't stand him. He's canonicaly really annoying, Makoto calls him annoying after their first meeting and half of the cast hates him (if you talk to people in the dining hall after Kiyotaka gathers everyone there in the first chapter some of them have some... kind words to say about him). I heard the creator of the game intended for him to be annoying to make fun of some ideas in his society at that time but maybe the person I heard it from was just digging too deep.

(jello already knows about this so i don't think im spoiling it by putting it in the comments). im a trans woman and it turned me off the series. like i do not think chihiro is intended to be read as trans, but the whole way her gender is revealed and made the primary talking point by all the characters, who instantly start he/him-ing her felt so insanely disrespectful. not to mention "trans woman is discovered as trans and is killed for it" is an incredibly common trope in media, and also happens a lot in real life!

They want to go by he/him but their feminine figure lead to them getting bullied in Japan’s very heteronormative society, so they just said “Fuck it” and pretended to be a girl since that would be the path of least resistance. Though that gets a little muddied in translation so a lot of English DR fans saw Chihiro differently than intended. It also doesn’t help that the line between fanon and canon gets a little blurry when it comes to DR fans. I just refer to Chihiro by they/them since it’s safe-

The fresh air was part of it for some reason.
Hearing the view of people who work/worked in translation is always fascinating. My DnD GM, a pretty old guy, used to work in German tranlation for the really early DnD rule books, and he's also regularly complaining about how badly some things are translated in the new ones.

i nearly had an argument with a friend when i told them the issues you guys were having with the game, he told me that "well real people wouldn't just kill each other for no reason" and i nearly shouted at him saying "ITS A STORY, i don't wanna read about real people in a situation like this i want to read a story about sociopaths back stabbing each other and making creative and elaborate ways to assassinate each other, if i wanted a realistic story i would be reading the news" and it made me realize that, yes, some people do think like this, they have taken the "well realistically..." to heart and its making stories worst
Even if you actually had to keep stories realistic, that would just mean the characters need to be given reasons to kill each other. After all, people do in fact kill other people all the time. And the reasons they do so don't necessarily make logical sense anyway.
Because it is the first thing that comes to mind for any reasonable human being. This only works if the secret you have is already worse than murder, which I assume is not the case for anyone but whoever is gen jack
