It's strange for me because I live in Glasgow next to Kelvingrove Park and yet I'm aware I don't appreciate Glasgow like I should. If Kelvingrove Park was in another European city I visited, and if the historic buildings of Glasgow were in another city I would love them and romanticise them yet when it's your own city you take such things for granted. I wonder if this is something a lot of people experience, I wonder if the people of all these cities that I love would come to Glasgow and wish they lived here.
Jeezo, same here man. Been in Partick for 6 years and I totally get you. It’s a shame that happens. Makes you think, we must take everything for granted if its familiar enough.
Why would you be surprised about Glasgow? It's a wonderful place and the people are great too. ie I was born there and lived in other places but the warmth of the Glaswegians never goes away.
You're right, it's great! Honestly it might simply be the playfully antagonistic attitudes Glasgow and Edinburgh have to each other sometimes - which to someone who's not from around there can translate as 'this could be just playing around... OR IS IT TRUE?!'. That said it was totally my fault that it took me so long to really go and explore the city for a couple of days and I can't wait to go back!
