Edinburgh is certainly the tourist city and yet if you were to trip and fall over in Edinburgh then people would walk over you, but in Glasgow people will make sure you are okay. Also the accent is very different so Edinburgh sounds a bit 'posh' and Glaswegian can sound harsh but Glaswegians are far more sincere and genuine. Also one of the scenes in WWZ was indeed filmed in George Square but did you recognise the Necropolis which they filmed the end scene in 'The Batman (2022)'.

The main difference from Edinburgh is that its more of an everyday, vibrant working city, which relied on heavy industries to make its way through the industrial revolution. Many a famous ocean liner was built on the Clyde, and shipbuilding continues today. That aside it has a lively arts, music and cultural scene, not to mention the sporting interests. I enjoyed this video. I’ve lived just outside Glasgow all my life (I’m in my 50s), and just to echo other contributors, I’ve never tried deep-fried Mars Bar. I’ve never even seen one, other than on TV or UA-cam. £9 sounds a bit steep for a pie and a Mars Bar, no matter how highly the place is recommended. West End is best for a day out - Byers Road, Finnieston, Ashton Lane, etc, but the Horseshoe Bar near Central Station is something of an institution. I’ve never done it, but I believe you can get a tour of Glasgow Central’s disused underground system. Among other things, I think it was used to bring home fallen soldiers during WWII.
Glasgow is definitely more industrial and modern than Edinburgh I've noticed, Edinburgh is more of a historical and heritage center and the people are a bit more reserved, Glaswegians are more interesting and friendly to tourists in my opinion
It's a fine city, and similar to places like Liverpool and Belfast, the people and their humour really make it what it is. It was known as the second city of the empire in the 19th century and the city centre is sometimes used as a replica for Manhattan in movies given the size of the buildings an the grid referenced street layout. Karolina's 'Next Video' is great by the way!
Thanks for all them interesting insights! Everything in Glasgow felt like you’ve just described it 😬🙏 And also now it makes so much sense for us that sometimes the shoots for the NYC movies are taken in Glasgow because the streets were huge! Thank you - the outro just happened to be re-occurring one but it’s quite funny I believe 😂 [Karolina]

@kathsmith4924 The man with the bird is actually a representation of our city's patron saint... St. Mungo. The bird that never flew.... part of our coat of arms. There's a mural trail taking in many of the gable end/street art works... and it's still growing.
I was right beside you yesterday I guess, as we were taking our daughter to Strathclyde University to start her first year. Right opposite the Cathedral

When you left your luggage in the shop was that a Air B&B you was staying and coming back later or the shop was just holding your luggage like to know more. Merci
It's only the train cars that are new in the Glasgow Subway (they were upgraded this year). The subway system itself opened on 14 December 1896, making it the third-oldest underground rail transit system in the world after the London Underground and the Budapest Metro. That's why it's so small compared to modern underground systems!

Oh, and Glasgow will look more modern because it was bombed heavily in WW2 because of its ship building industry. On the river walk you would have passed the only remaining heavy crane. My girlfriend zip lined across the river from it, for charity. I watched her...nutter! One love from Glasgow. 💙

@@heatherdundas6200 Nope, I'm afraid you're wrong. The sales figures that indicate that are based on sales by cans only. With the combined cans and bottles, Irn Bru does indeed outsell Coca Cola.
You’re right to point out the new subway trains however you’re wrong about it being newly constructed. It’s one oldest subway systems in the entire world believe it or not. I’m sure everyone else around the world probably shouts someone’s coming. Glaswegian shout edgy. A little bit of useless information for you to take away with you…🤷🏻♂️🏴
The caps attached to the irn bru is stupid imo because when you finish a bottle you automatically screw the cap back on and then recycle it.... It's just treating people like they're idiots to be honest.
the attached lid is annoying, its solving a problem that never a problem everyone recycles the bottle and lid already but its treating everyone like toddlers who cant be trusted but also making it harder to close the bottle properly had a two litre bottle of cola leek into my fridge because the lid was on at an angle so it wasn't sealed

The trains on the Subway have only come into service within the last few months.
That’s so interesting! Have they been previously in maintenance or something? Thanks for sharing Stephen 👍
@@JayandKarolina They are replacements for older trains which had run on the system for just over 40 years.
@@JayandKarolinaThey've actually been selling off old parts of the trains , I preferred the old ones , new ones just don't sit right with me .
Glasgow over Edinburgh everytime for me 😎👍🏻🏴
me to
Definitely
Very nice film Thank you. The architecture in Glasgow is amazing even the pubs .Have a look in the Counting House at George Square it's beautiful inside .
Thanks for the tip and watching the video! Will definitely check it out 😄
I like to visit places of worship myself and when I was in Glasgow it was Celtic and Rangers !
it's very deceptive city bigger than you imagine ,loved that mural with the man and bird ,hope your ankle is ok
@kathsmith4924 The man with the bird is actually a representation of our city's patron saint... St. Mungo. The bird that never flew.... part of our coat of arms. There's a mural trail taking in many of the gable end/street art works... and it's still growing.
@@stevenrielly240 thank you for info i just love murals and the story behind
Thank you so much Kath and Steven for bringing up the murals into the discussion! We loved them all but this particular one was our favourite too 😍🐦🪶
Nice video ❤❤ Glasgow looks amazing 🤩
I was right beside you yesterday I guess, as we were taking our daughter to Strathclyde University to start her first year. Right opposite the Cathedral
Glasgow and Edinburgh: Night and Day! You're such nice people and I absolutely love your channel!! ❤
❤️ You're the best! Thank you so much for watching :) Definitely - apparently the cities are close to each other but are so different!
Nice to see Glasgow again. I haven't been there since 2018. Great vid as always
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching again 😍 Our next video will be from China so hope you’ll enjoy it too!
Love watching both of you and how you describe things . Are you heading more northwards in Scotland next like around the islands. Sorry for the fall Jay please take care. When you left your luggage in the shop was that a Air B&B you was staying and coming back later or the shop was just holding your luggage like to know more. Merci
This is one really good Chippy
It's only the train cars that are new in the Glasgow Subway (they were upgraded this year). The subway system itself opened on 14 December 1896, making it the third-oldest underground rail transit system in the world after the London Underground and the Budapest Metro. That's why it's so small compared to modern underground systems!
It makes so much sense now! Thank you so much for sharing 😍🙏
Best used on a match day eh Doug 🤣🤣🔴⚪🔵
@@williamn01 Absolutely ;)
My home city has an incredible and mind blowing history made by Glaswegians and guests who have come and made it their home. Floreat Glasgow
Very interesting and enjoyable, cheers 😊👍
Thank you so much for watching Nigel! We really appreciate it :) Cheers!
Welcome to Scotland and my home city. ❤
Love your vids. You are a really nice couple 😊. Looking forward to the next.
Thanks so much! So glad to hear you like them!!! Our next series starts very soon as we’ve been filming for couple of days now in CHINA! Hope you’ll enjoy watching the vlogs too 😍🎉🇨🇳
Oh, and Glasgow will look more modern because it was bombed heavily in WW2 because of its ship building industry. On the river walk you would have passed the only remaining heavy crane. My girlfriend zip lined across the river from it, for charity. I watched her...nutter! One love from Glasgow. 💙
If you read the bottle label it says the cap is not yet recyclable but the cap says it’s attached to recycle together 😂
Underground is also known as the clock work orange. It's not new but has been done up
Thanks Fiona for letting us know! So cool!
Please visit the rest of Scotland!! It can be very difficult to actually know it if all you know are the 2 cities! I love them, I live in Glasgow, but people here think that there is nothing beyond the Central Belt!! Dundee and Aberdeen are cities with completely different vibes, and there are so many wee towns and villages with character. Callendar, Edzell, Millport, my home town Arbroath ❤ See them all ❤
Oban a must see and skye.
Glasgow is the third oldest subway after London and Budapest
The Necropolises graveyard behind the cathedral was used in the last Batman film
I did go to Glasgow University, and it was a magical time!
We're so glad to hear that :) We found it extremely charming too!
9 quid for a pie and a deep friend mars bar?? nah, £3.75 or i'm walking lol. sheesh
It was quite pricey but this fish & chip shop is ranked as one of the top places in Glasgow to visit 😬👌🎉
I believe Glasgow Cathedral is being used to film part of the forthcoming Frankenstein film. Makes sense - Gothic architecture.
My Gran and other members of my family are buried in that graveyard ,great video a bit been up there in a while Glasgow that is ,weather's not changed then!
Glad you enjoyed it! Your relatives must have been very privileged to be buried in such a place Jason!
Very good. I watched it all.
From a Glaswegian
That's the biggest compliment we can get from a local resident :) Thanks so much for watching Alan!
Glasgow looks very cool. Never knew there was a subway outside of London. Looks minature and cute lol.
Sigh, "deep fried Mars Bar". I come from Glasgow and don't know anyone other than tourists who have actually tried this.
I did and liked it, but I could feel my arteries getting clogged as I was eating it
Yep that tends to be the case.
Great video Jay and Karolina from a Glaswegian. 😊😊
We're so glad to hear that! We are always pleasantly surprised how even local people watch our videos and you like them 😍
The Scotch pies bought from supermarkets are made with mutton.
I don't know if you already know this..........
Scotland is the only country in the world where Coke isn't the best selling soft drink. It's in second place behind Irn-bru.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
That's not actually true, coke still outsells Irn Bru. It's a myth!
@@heatherdundas6200 where did you learn that from? Genuine question.
@@heatherdundas6200 Nope, I'm afraid you're wrong. The sales figures that indicate that are based on sales by cans only. With the combined cans and bottles, Irn Bru does indeed outsell Coca Cola.
@@fuzzluvver69 not any more, coke took over when barrs changed the recipe, irn bru is rank rotten now
You’re right to point out the new subway trains however you’re wrong about it being newly constructed. It’s one oldest subway systems in the entire world believe it or not. This might sound a little sad but I’ve lived in Glasgow for the best part of 50 years and I still love going on the underground. When I was a kid it was the most exciting thing in the world 🤗
the Glasgow subway is the opposite of being relatively new... hihihi "Opened on 14 December 1896, it is the third-oldest underground rail transit system in the world after the London Underground and the Budapest Metro."
The only people who order deep fried mars bars are tourists 😂
those latest new bottle tops that are "attached to recycle" or so very annoying! The first time I experienced this I thought I had a faulty bottle. There was nothing to say it was attached for rycycling issues, and I really disliked it and still do. everyone I spoke to also dislikes them too.
Fun fact, In glasgow growing up , my friends yoused to keep an edgey when getting up to mischief
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Edinburgh is a mixture of Oxford/London...Glasgow is a mixture of Liverpool/Manchester/Birmingham!
Nice Vid folks!
This makes so much sense Gary! We couldn’t agree more on this 😬👍
Believe or not, been in Glasgow a few times since it is now my 2nd home, I never eaten a fried Mars ba and a Scottish pier since I'm not a fan of Mars bar and I only do chicken pie :) I love the grey weather in Glasgow. Both Edinburgh and Glasgow have their charm and uniqueness. Our place is in West End which is like a 10ish mins walk to the Botanic garden and people are generally more friendly in Glasgow too though I find no difference.
We couldn’t agree more - the atmosphere and people in Scotland are just great! You are so lucky to live somewhere nearby ❤️
As you perfectly know, we are the foodie types so we feel the need to always try what locals would do! But apparently people in the comments say that the deep fried mars bar is a tourist trap 🫣🍫
@@JayandKarolina is one of the best residential areas in glasgow and safe too. I'm not the person to go for viral food as most are overrated. Anyhow, you guys are in China now? Enjoy and have fun.
Perhaps see you both in Singapore 🇸🇬 :)

Great video.... but not the deep fried Mars Bar 😂 We don't actually eat those! The subway is actually the 3rd oldest in the world, behind London and Budapest, it's been modernised over the last 10 - 15 years, and the trains are only a few months old.
Thanks for sharing! We were so shocked when realised that actually they brought back that subway to life 🚇 It’s such a great idea!
We genuinely thought that a deep fried mars bar is something every Scottish person would enjoy a lot haha
Hi Jay, congratulations on the video you made 😄
Hi Karolina, you're always nice as always 😘
Thank you so much Umberto for your support! Glad you enjoyed the video 😍🙏🏼
@@JayandKarolina Your girlfriend is cute . great vidoe . I perfer Edinburgh over Glasgow
Ive stayed in Glasgow for many years and never had a deep fried mars
Definitely best keeping it that way pal, they’re bowfin! 🤮
There is a whole part of Edinburgh you cant change or build on.
Happy sunday
Same to you! 😍
Do you think you’ll visit Inverness? Smaller of course but a great place to live
We're currently filming outside of the UK but the plan is to come back in couple of months and shoot some more videos for sure 😍
£9 for 1 pie and 1 deep fried Mars bars, I think they saw you coming!
It was quite pricey but apparently this place is on top of the list for fish & chips in Glasgow! And because it’s Italian-influenced, it’s something unique I guess 😬👍
Morrisons sell a really nice Scotch Pie from their bakery and I still need to try the deep fried Mars bar.
You've made us want to do that now Ben haha 😂 But we'll have to wait a bit for such pleasures because we've just started filming more vlogs in CHINA!!!
Deep-fried Mars bar, no Glaswegians eat that, I am from England originally here for 20 years now, I have seen changes, fish and chips and pies are good, a good haggis but not from a chip shop for that one..
i love Glasgow i been loads of times try Aberdeen to
We were thinking of visiting Aberdeen indeed because we've heard so many great things? Any suggestions of what not to miss when we go there Mark? Let us know 😍
They thought about filming some Hogwarts scenes at UGlasgow, but the schedule interferes with exams. Weirdly, some people still talk about it as if it happened.
Glasgow is industrial city lots of brilliant people & restaurants & friendly people 🏴😂
Couldn't agree more Pamela! And also it's so artsy and the city really has a soul!
The only citys ive ever been to is my local city Brighton and Hove) then southampton and London but i really want to explore other citys in uk i am going to try visit glasgow Edinburgh Leeds and Manchester one day. I got family who live in Yorkshire so hopefully i can visit the citys and towns in Northern england this year or next.
Train tickets in the UK are expensive because the trains are now owned by European Companies and we subsidise the train fares in Europe
Ha ha, I'm a Geordie and even I know the Glasgow Subway is one of the oldest in the world ( 3rd I think )!
Yes Stephen, it’s not the newest but it has its own unique style I believe 😂👍
@JayandKarolina yes, it's a smaller gauge, very dinky! I believe it very recently had new trains installed
2nd oldest, after London
Yeah.. came across as uninformed and quite patronising with the comments about the subway
@@MoodyMarco-vj3oe Not quite: a fairly short (4km) cut-and-cover underground railway opened in Budapest, just a few months before Glasgow's in 1896.
Do you know what edgy means here in Glasgow? It’s the word called out by someone who’s being the lookout for others who are up to no good when the cops turn up. I’m sure everyone else around the world probably shouts someone’s coming. Glaswegian shout edgy. A little bit of useless information for you to take away with you…🤷🏻♂️🏴
😂😂😂
The things wee used to say. Remember ye’d say to one or two of the wee guys, “Keep the edgy for us”? 😂
@@Jamie0789 Yes Sir.🫡
You’re not a Glaswegian, if you don’t know that..🤣🤣🤣🤷🏻♂️🏴
Edgy actually means risky, if you don't feel safe you are normally a bit on edge. Hence "It's a bit edgy here" ___ "I don't feel completely safe".
😬😬😬
The Glasgow Subway is the second oldest in the world, after London.
That's pretty amazing how they do preserve it! It felt like a spaceship at first haha but overall it was very efficient :)
Third after London and Budapest
A pie and a fried mars bar £8.50? You are being truly ripped off.
Scottish people think tourists are crazy for eating fried marsbars😂😂I don’t know how it became a thing but most of us Scots have never tasted them.Loved the video 🏴
Glasgow City is the best # tourist only visit Edinburgh cos it reminds them back home when the Gunners fire at 1,00pm 😘
I’m from Glasgow and the deep fried mars bar is just what tourists like to try. I wouldn’t try the deep fried mars bar because it’s not for me
That's Edinburgh for you ,you'd a got a ticket going to Glasgow to Edinburgh fur a quid
What do you exactly mean Jason? Was it like that in the past? Now ScotRail seem to be a go-to option and it wasn’t cheap at all 🫣
BTW, the population of Glasgow is larger than Edinburgh.
It did indeed feel like a bigger city! And we think that probably more people live in the outskirts as well :) Is this true?
@@JayandKarolinaGlasgow is like 4 towns + 1 city centre e.g. West end(Glasgow Uni/Kelvingrove),East End (Merchant City/Barras),Southside(Shawlands/Queens Park),North (Port Dundas/Maryhill)!
I live In Glasgow and have never seen a deep fried chocolate anything .
They're really only a gimic for tourists. Nobody local actually has them.
From the comments we’ve received it seems like a Deep Fried Mars Bar is not something super popular among locals 🫣 Which we didn’t really know because we thought that it’s a delicacy that Scottish people like!
The cone is always supposed to be there it’s our tradition
Should have went exchange square to see the famous one
Im from Glasgow i have never eat fryed mars bar
Really? We would have assumed that it's a local delicacy? May we ask you Jon, what would a true Scotsman eat for dessert? :)
