It cuts and is full and warm. I own one 14x5,5. Trough a PA system this snare is very convincing

Yes it's the masters maple gum.
While all snaredrums sound nice, I particularly like the first one in this video. That is the Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch 14x5.5 Snare Drum in Molten Brown Burst finish. Where can I buy one? No one seems to offer it at the moment, besides a seller in Portsmouth (USA). It does not seem to be a limited edition snare either. So what is Tama up to with this snaredrum? What does your distributor in Germany have to say about the availability of this particular model? More info appreciated. Thanks for your extensive review.
Have you found any info on this snare? I can't find either and I'm looking for that size in that exact finish. No where to be found!
@@Sabianism: unfortunately no one seems to stock this particular model at the moment. Maybe the Covid-situation has to do with it. As I've been very busy these last weeks, I haven't had time yet to contact Tama importers about the availability of this model. Some shops only seem to stock the 6.5 inch models.

What is that muffle you’re using that’s clamped to the rim?
It looks like glasses-cloth bulldog clipped to the rim? Not too sure.
I know when recording, I've had a sound engineer duct tape a glass cleaning cloth to my snare and it does create quite a unique gate and muffle effect. A bit like cotton balls in a floor tom
How much better than the Tama SLP s are these ?
"Better" is a personal preference. Depends on what you like.
