- So I recently discovered and played SteamWorld Dig 1 & 2 and here I tell you what I thought playing them almost ten years after everyone else probably has.

One thing you didn't mention in the video is that the main character in Steamworld Dig is named Rusty and when you die in that game you lose a bit of progress and then RespawnRusty.
Ba dum tsss
I first played the other game in the SteamWorld franchise, steamworld "Heist" on my 3DS, and it was a fantastic little turn based strategy game and it brought me to play these games, also on my 3DS.
TY! currently, 1 and 2 are on sale for $3 and you made this an easy decision
Steamworld Dig 2 is on of the finest games I have ever played. A brilliantly crafted Metroidvania that is even better than its namesake. I have this on the Nintendo Switch and genuinely can say I have completed it over 10 times. So much to discover, and dont listen to people when they say there is nothing new to discover as there are blueprints to earn when you find artefacts. Post game upgrades which allow you to explore and finish all the challenge rooms and much more. 10/10 Perfect game.
these were my favourite games, im just kinda sad that ive been waiting 6 years for steamworld dig 3... its probably not gonna release but the ending for steamworld dig 2 was such a cliffhanger, i hope they release steamworld dig 3
SteamWorld Dig 2 is one of my all time favorites! They have the perfect set up for a third game. I want an asteroid hopping SteamWorld Dig!
Chronologically, steamworld heist comes after steam world dig 2. That is, if they don't release another game that takes place in between the two.
Fun fact, I Dig It was a ripoff of Motherload, a janky but fun little flash game that came out in 2004. I spent way to many hours on that as a kid. It's fun to see how far the niche has evolved.
The basic idea is far older than Flash itself, let alone a Flash game. I think the first Dig Dug game was on the Atari? There was also Boulder Dash. Dig, avoid falling rocks, get gems. I've been playing games like this (off and on) since the 1980s. I don't think Flash was a thing then. I don't think Macromedia, the company that initially offered Flash before Adobe bought them out, was a thing. I bet its founders were playing Dig Dug/Boulder Dash and their clones though!
Just got 2 on gamepass, knew nothing about it. Figured it might be like the old motherload game. Within minutes i was hooked. Awesome game
I bought a 3DS only for the first Steam World Dig! :)
Nice efficient reviews for both games. I think I’m gonna check em out
I played both games at least dozen times on different consoles but never "heard" cog crates 😮 I gotta play it again 😂
This is a complaint for your speakers. I have basic desktop speakers, they're good for most things. I also have AirPods Pro, and when I pair them to my computer or my TV - can't pair them to Xbox because it doesn't support third-party Bluetooth, but I can pair them to my TV - everything just sounds ten billion percent better. Clearer. (They aren't very loud.) It's kind of like sitting in a theater. Any movie in 4K with a Dolby soundtrack especially. But also gaming. There are so many distinct little sounds that basic speakers aren't playing for you, or they just get mixed into everything else. (Also, AirPods are far from the best speakers you can get... they're just super convenient. Audio fidelity, Hi-Fi gear, it's a pretty deep (and expensive!) rabbit hole, but maybe you could find a sound bar for a couple hundred $$$ that elevates your listening experience. That's more for a TV though.
Dig 2 is a 10 out of 10 for me tho
Thanks i just bought steam dig 2 for switch 👍
Thoughts?
Thanks for the review
For me steam world dig 1 is better, at least on the animation side, when you're sucking up water, it shows the puddle drying out, but on the second nothing happens, I've finished both, I am waiting for a third one, because fen has to be saved
It also had a map of the minerals location
While I agree in thinking 1 is better, that's not animation quirk, that's just water not being limited in the sequel, it's not draining because it's just a permanent resource.
@jupiterofthemonkeyii5569 that's true, didn't think of that because of the design, since it looks like a small pond, I assumed it would finish
@alangomes1181 bit of a spoiler here

Canonically in the Steamworld timeline Quest > Dig > Dig2 > Heist. In heist FEN is a playable character but ONLY after you repair them
love this game.
keep it up!
Funny your last vid blew up but nothing in over a yr what happened you got a good voice for reviews
Thank you! That means a lot.
Funnily enough I did this video as an experiment to see if it would get more subscriptions and views. I knew the WarFrame one before had got a lot compared to the others. Initially this one didn’t do amazingly either but was a bit better. It’s only been in the last six months I’d say it has had a lot more views and this one video alone doubled subscribers. I’ve taken some time out to reflect about how to proceed and I’m still in that process. I think by this point I had created a lot and seen it wasn’t hitting the mark. Rather than continue to do what I know isn’t working it is important to make sure I change that and give you guys what you want to see.
@@RespawnRusty well I'm here for it. I subbed so im interested in seeing what you do next.
are you thinking of reviewing more games?
Hey! I am yes. I’m still playing with the idea of what content to serve but the plan is shorter videos as opposed to my previous let’s play episodic styles.
@@RespawnRusty cool!
1 is BEST
2 is TRASH
Is there an easy mode for people like me without skill?
It’s been a while since I played but if memory serves correctly I didn’t find either to be particularly difficult. The first was easier and there were parts in the second that required a bit more skill. With patience and digging carefully less mistakes will be made, making for an easier experience. If I recall though, both games are forgiving.
Thanks i just bought steam dig 2 for switch 👍
