** DISCLAIMER: I was not paid to make this video & nobody is compensating me for talking about their store. The Seattle area rocks for retro gaming and I wanted to make sure visitors know about them **
Here's a MAP showing all the retro gaming stores in the area : goo.gl/maps/enQeGCAc1cmU5XeK7 - If I missed one, let me know and I'll add it. Thanks for watching!
Hi MetalJesus, " cool going to
have to go game hunting sonetime ", :)
Theres a neat looking Pink and white Building off 99 in Lynwood called Game-Xplosion, Idk if you've been to that one yet.
can you do a retro gaming store hunt in paris?
haha remember when seattle was a great city, now its just trash and riots haha xD and sjw with blue hair xD time to move out from these crazy leftie areas. haha.
Double Jump Video Games. You should check them out. They also have a UA-cam channel.
Love me my Uwajimaya. Fun tour vid! I like how you also cover a few locales along with the stores.
I need to do the same type of video for your side of the state. That would be pretty fun. Maybe stay a day or two in Lake Chelan, my old stomping grounds too.
Dang John Riggs. Great w see you here commenting on your buddy metal Jesus rock's. Aka Jason
Metal Jason Rock's!!!
Yes
Huh
@@MrAgilla what???
Dude you got every mark on point! Im actually the one that bought that pikachu gameboy color at pink gorilla that you showed haha.
I’m going on vacation to Seattle the first week of August, so this is perfect timing for me! Thanks MJR!
Have fun! 😎
Take me
Vacation to Seattle Lolol. Good luck
Dang, I love your travel videos! 🤘
I'm from Malaysia. Hopefully, once I'm fully vaccinated, I get to go to Seattle next year. Not only for the games, but for Seattle's rich alternative rock history, plus it's legendary coffee.
Skip the vax and come if you want.
Plus, all the strip clubs👌🏽
Hi fellow Malaysian
@@caligee7306 You are thinking of Portland
@@Livnglrg lmao you are totally right....haha looks like you know from experience eh? Haha🤝🏽
It is so surreal seeing just how many retro gaming stores there are here in our home state. I will definitely be taking some time to check some of these places out!
always fun to have these virtual trips with metal jesus, from Pakistan so I'm always excited for such rides
Hey Jason - mad love for how you support local retail stores - they can certainly use all the help they can get!
I'm from Spokane, and in all honesty, these retro stores are the only reason I ever go to Seattle. We have NOTHING here in Spokane. Thank you for the video!
I mean, we have Game World. But that's about it
I was great meeting you a pink gorilla dude! I got a bit nervous but I’ve watched your videos for a couple of years now and they’re great!
I really like the fact that you vary your content. Every episode is something different!
Glad to see Game Over games expanding out of Texas. I live about 5 minutes from the Houston location.
Great video and thanks for sharing some awesome stores!
You and I should do this for the Portland area!
@@MetalJesusRocks -- Not the OR side of Portland, that's a wasteland.
Do those stores sell on a budget?
🤣🤣🤣 just kidding
DoubleJump video games is a great store.
Coming back to this list frequently. I'm so glad it's still here a year later
"we have 13 stores here"
me: no i'm not jealous at all,why would i be ?
lol man i just laughing about if you have car line ...... regional North Queensland Australia if you dont own a car you are screwed 1300 kilometres to the nearest retro gaming shop
Everytime you talk about Seattle. I cry. Tears of joy. You have definitely made it one of my MUST visit locations. Hopefully my fiancee and I can come up with the money to go up there for a few days.
Really great overview of the stores love these visits... keep them coming 😬
My first trip to Seattle was in 2015 as a solo trip for basically hiking, craft beer, vinyl, cds and games.
Loved Al's, Zions Gate, Sonic Boom, silver platters, Pink Gorilla and everyday music. What a great city for exploring. Can't wait to go back one day....Cheers from Tampa, Florida.
These vids are so informative and so much fun to watch! Thanks MJR :)
Glad you like them!
Seattle has been a place I've always wanted to visit. Some of these places will be a must for me when I go. Thanks for the list and commentary!
Recently got into your channel after un-earthing my original PS2 from 2000 and started a collection of games again - love your channel and I’m learning a lot about other consoles and games I’ve never heard about 🔥 Rock on!
We have 0 gaming stores in my area! Time to travel around the world and visit Seattle!
YES this is the content I enjoy most on your channel!
I'm so glad you went to Al's. So many memories there, makes me so happy they've stuck around.
Thanks man, just moved from California to the Pugent Sound. Loving it here! Good to support our small business for gaming!
Love the game hunting vids! Next, we need another I hate u series vid!
Or even another Gamer Eats with DMP!
Love seeing my favorite stores getting their much deserved attention! Thank you for supporting our community MJR!!!
Almost skipped over this video thought it looked uninteresting. Man, you never disappoint! I skipped over the “pick-up” videos for years too and then on a whim watched one and was hooked. I must’ve spent an afternoon binge watching them all! Anyway, I need to get my sticky buns up to Seattle! 👍 Video!
I have been struggling last year with myself and had a lot of free time being home from work to recover. I always kind of stayed a gamer but there were periods…
Found you on UA-cam and you reignited my passion for gaming like I was a teenager again. Helped me a lot to find my mojo again. Thanks for your videos and hope to see many more to come . Greetings from the Netherlands
Another castle is my favorite store to go to.
Friendly staff and a store full of so much cool stuff.
Love it!
Federal Way Represent! If you're going to Federal Way, might as well keep going to Tacoma to Super Smash Games.
Super Smash, very cool place
Damn I just left Seattle yesterday! Haha did get to check out the small Pink Gorilla and bought some stuff
Y'all are so blessed with retro game stores in the Seattle area. The retro game stores in and near San Francisco had mostly vanished due to high rents ... but thankfully a few have started popping up recently. There's maybe just ... 6 or so ... within an hour radius of San Francisco. Sadly! And they're only really accessible by car, which is a bummer because SF is so wonderfully public transit heavy that many folks don't even own cars if they live in the city proper ... convenient for getting around SF, but not leaving it ...
seattle is a retro gaming paradise , stops Jesus a fan here in Brazil
Thank you for mentioning Al’s Music.
When I last visited Seattle, I accidentally discovered Al’s after visiting Pink Gorilla in the area. The workers were cool with me and it was awesome to learn one of them is from South San Francisco where I’m from.
I visited both Pink Gorilla Games stores. Both were great but especially liked the two workers at the International District because they were very friendly and let me see their recent PS2 trade-ins they got. I was PS2 hunting at the time.
Very satisfied with all three stores and would gladly visit again.
Love retro game stores. I luckily have a Game Xchange where I live, but I could always do with more.
Feels so weird hearing a content creator say names of towns or places in general that you're actually familiar with lol thanks for sharing these, taking all of them into consideration :)
Nearly 20 yrs ago when I lived in Seattle, my roommates and I used to go to Al's after a night on the Ave and buy random metal cassettes to play on the boombox when we got home. I remember one time we picked up a Grim Reaper tape, and were rocking out to See You in Hell the rest of the night. Love your channel, and will def check out some of these shops next time I'm up that way.
I really need to get my butt to Seattle and visit these stores. Glad you are helping out game stores get recognition
Friday evening, changed clothes, comfy chair, cold beverage, and a Metal Jesus video. What a way to start the weekend!
Man, i love that kind of videos where you take us on a ride through certain (gamestore)-areas.
Here in germany Retro Stores or just „normal“ Gamestores are so hard to find.
You are lucky if the big cities had even a single one.
The most stuff is stocked on ebay. 😁
Many Greetings from germany
Take care 👊🏼
Great video! I'm originally from Tacoma, but have lived in LA the past decade -- so all these spots are new to me. We got some cool retro game stores out here like Game Dude, but it feels like there's far less in comparison to the Seattle-area. I'm planning on checking out the Pink Gorilla locations next time I visit family, and I'll certainly add these recommendations to that future excursion. Thanks! 👍🏿
Wow. Thanks for showing the Seattle video game stores. If I get to visit or tour there, I will look at these stores. I put it on my touring destination places.
What a coincidence, I'm on vacation in Seattle right now for a month. Perfect timing for this vid to drop! Lol
Metal Jesus you rock!
Thank you for this great video. I love these store tour videos. Stuff like this is why I remain a Patreon supporter.
Thanks Daniel! I appreciate the support. 🤘
We need this to be a web series. MJR traveling America, in the VW Golf, giving everyone the run down of hunting in a particular town. Im sure you could easily find a good guide in each city with the relationships you've cultivated over the years. Some day man. I already have the perfect title. "MJR Plays America"
Visited my buddy in Seattle a couple years ago. Went to Pink Gorilla and Game Over. Met Kelsey and picked up some Zelda games, got a pretty much brand new in box Dreamcast at Game Over for like 60 bucks, and when I went to Nintendo to take a selfie, I met Reggie as he was walking in on his last day at Nintendo! It was an awesome trip.
I'd love to see more videos like this from you, even if it's not entirely game related. I've always wanted to visit Seattle and I'm hoping to very soon after I beat cancer!
My wife and I recently visited Seattle and based on your video went to the International district, ate at Uwajimaya and stopped at the Pink Gorilla and had a great time - so thanks for that. We also discovered there is too much to see in Seattle so we’re looking forward to our next trip…
Great tour. Enjoyed the game stores and extra stops. I live in Austin and was surprised about the Game Over location.
Your the man metal Jesus! My love for video games came back pretty much because of your early videos. I’m not a massive collector but I really appreciate retro games and consoles.
I'm visiting Seattle in October! I'll be hunting for video games! I love this video! This is the reason I'm coming.
We need a show like Pawn Stars but only with gaming stuff.
That sounds like it would be successful.
Just don't invite that creep, Deniz to be on it. WATA is cancer to the gaming community.
Agreed!
I could spend a week in re-pc!
You visit Seattle dude, and I'll take ya on a tour 🤘
I tune into to this channel for the games...but damn the standard of production and editing in this video is fantastic.
I love the arcades! These all look like really good stores. That blue xbox was cool! I've never seen that before
The GPS portions of this video totally reminded me of Midnight Club: Los Angeles 😊.
going to these stores is like going to Disneyland for me lol. i live in the island across the water from the city and absolutely love showing my friends these stores. great having an experienced collector in the area!!!
$425 for Shantae Pirate's Curse on Switch. Jesus WayForward, just reprint it.
I just bought 4 Xbox One games for 60$! I'd only it sell to get more other games.
I actually just picked it up on my trip to NYC. They even made the GBC version reprinted by limited run. Both were $60 new. That price is insanity
@Press play on tape Literally not an excuse
games should not cost $425
Limited Run Games is a bullshit service. Especially lately
I have a physical copy and I agree it should be reprinted so more people can have it. There's no reason the physical release of this game should approach GBC Shantae in terms of price.
@@fragotron Well aren't you super edgey and hardcore.
Wow! I'm shocked!! My very first computer on minute 4.10, thank you very much Jason, or metal Jesus, thank you so much for making me happy with an image that opened a container full of good memories!
Excellent info to keep! and thanks for posting the links/info in the description!
Cool video! Really nice to see how it's like in your hometown. Greetings from the Netherlands
Awesome, gonna check some of these out that I didn't know about. Love retro gaming! There are 2 cool ones in downtown Renton too(I saw one on the map you made)! One is next door to the retro arcade.
Fantastic video, as someone who lives in PAL land but collects imported NTSC games I would be in heaven visiting somewhere like this! Vacation to Seattle in the future me thinks!
Lol just flew into Seattle for a vacation and this video comes out. I know what I’m doing today haha. Thank you!
Have fun! Looks like you just missed the sun and hot weather...but game hunting will still keep ya busy!
@@MetalJesusRocks LOL Texas and Washington traded weather for a while. We just had 3 weeks straight of rain in San Antonio, which is absolutely unheard of for July.
Sweet. I have a friend that moved up there last year. I'm not sure which city he is currently living in, but I'm gonna send him this video. Thanks for your work, metalChristo 🤘🤘
I grew up in the Tacoma, Seattle area in the late 80s and early to mid 90s. I miss the Pacific Northwest. A lot has changed since I left. Gonna plan a trip!
Im absolutely amazed every time you show these types of videos. SF Bay Area is such a desert. It wasn't like this 10 years ago. There are zero independent game shops in SF :(
Im british im defo not coming to seattle anytime soon but i like watching these types of videos when you do them to listen to someone who knows what theyre taking about is a treat
Another Castle and Pick Gorilla are some of my favorites as well! Cool video!
When the border opens...and crossing it is easy...Im going to make a point to take a weekend and drive on down from Vancouver BC and hit all these places. Love retro stuff!
Excellent video. I wish there was a guide to video like this one but for music gear! Very useful idea for the locals
You guys have it so good up there! Miami is practically a gaming store desert, so I have to live vicariously through these videos!
Thank you for being a big figure in keeping retro alive. Been watching you for years. Ur always awesome man!
Definitely want to go to Seattle and check out all these places! If I'm ever heading up there someday, I'll be sure to use this video as a reference point!
Great to see MJR giving some support to these great local businesses - especially during this tough times for retail.
7:09 Doggy: "Hello Jason, Yes I am the owner, supervisor, and employee of this place, feel free to rub my head and back while you check the games, Woof !!!!"
This is so cool MJR!!! Thank you for sharing!
3:48 I bet 8bitguy would be in retro-brighting heaven if he was given access to that museum.
Grew up in Seattle area, and its so cool to see all these places I know! Didnt know our area was known for its retro game stores, or how lucky I am to be near them all!
Man its a whole different feeling entering a retro gaming shop and just seeing classics everywhere!
Why the hell this Channel does not have 1 Mil Subs by now ?. Love your content man one of the best channels to follow If anyone loves Retro Games and video games in general. Love from India
Hey Metal Jesus! Long time subscriber here, just wanted to say I love your channel, your videos are always awesome, and Rock on!!!
"Its probably safe to walk down there... " lol
Not at night lol
Great video! I love seeing US retro gaming stores, the UK scene pales in comparison ☹️
What a country!! Great weather, great food and great stores!! In England if you don't live in a city online is your only option now a days ✌️
Pittsburgh-area has Warp Zone and The Exchange and that's about it, so it's always cool to see everything Seattle has to offer for games.
I'm glad you included Big Red's Retro Games on the map. It's the closest place for me since I live across the sound from Seattle. Tragically the original owner passed away. But the store is transitioning to new ownership, as of this post. So I hope it does well enough to stick around for a long time.
Otherwise, I've only been to Pink Gorilla, both locations. I have yet to see the others.
These stores are insane, their really isn't anything like this in the UK anymore. Their are probably a handful on the smaller side still nestled away in different corners but nothing like this swarm of stores.
Yessss.. feed our usa pride
i really hate that the uk video games market is being squeezed out i have to rely on cex, cash generator and cash convertors for shops to go to in town and only cex are any good. i would love stores like this rather than waiting days on end for it to get to me in a parcel delivery. i would love to get an n64 in town but no luck.
@@rondonnis6588 totally. I guess there is a lot of risk in opening something like this in the UK. You have to put a lot of money up front and it could all fall apart as their isn't a culture of buying from stores anymore. Nobody even thinks to look for them. At least their are some good online stores, hopefully some of them will branch out
There are a few in the north east of varying size. Sore thumbs in York (has an online presence), Electric town in Ripon, Game Zone in Darlington, The Game Pad in Scarborough to name a few.
@@B1Rl3Y I might try them if they deliver as I'm in the midlands
I love your game hunting video's they are right up my street. Hope to visit Seattle someday.
Just across this channel loving it i love watching people look at retro gaming from my era of gaming sega master system and mega drive and Snes
Much respect from Wales UK
Awesome video man… love your travel videos. They really capture the look and feel of the places you go nicely. Makes we really wanna go over and visit…haha.
These types of videos are pretty fun to make. Glad you dig 'em! 🤘
my serotonin levels were feeling depleted today, new MJR video just refilled the tank :D
The Google maps link is awesome and so convenient, thanks for making that !
So many memories! I came to Seattle 3 years ago and my friend who maintains the pinball machines for Another Castle drove me around to each location and lots of these locations too. My poor wallet hurt that day but had such good fun. Even bumped in to Kelsey and Cody at Pink Gorilla.
I live near Paris and went "game hunting" for the first time last week after watching your videos. I was mainly looking for new 3DS games and used DS games. New 3DS games are getting harder and harder to find here. In some places, they have them hidden in drawers (you have to ask to the seller for the 3DS games) because the Switch is taking so much space now.
Next week I am on bussiness trip to Toulouse region, I have already started to spot some video game stores for more game hunting fun !
Wow that awesome and I love the part of seeing that little dog that was real nice surprise to see!!!!!!!
Rock on metaljesusdude!
Such an awesome city. If I ever visit the States, Seattle will be my first pick.
