Nice little intro sir. 😉 We find so many things are very affordable here in Mexico. Cool place thanks for sharing Monte you are doing a great job. Cheers from 2 Canucks living In Xalapa Veracruz. 😁✌🏽
Hi Monte Love all the updates on the local transportation, thank you. I went to the DDS in Kanasin and getting a rideshare back to the Colonia was difficult but finally got a DiDi so this new tram/bus is great news.
Bro I just came last year to Taiwan (I’m Mexican living in Rivera maya) when I go back Mexico I won’t miss Taiwan, just in 6 month is getting so Modern ! 🇲🇽
Do you think the system will accept payment with Tap to Pay cards or cell phones - Apple Pay and Google Pay? Also, if you come across any updates about when the other routes of the IE Tram (north and south west toward the airport) it would be interesting to hear about those. Also, have you heard anything about when the renovation of Calle 60 will be done?
No for phones and Google pay. I have some more footage I’m going to make into a UA-cam short about future routes. No idea on Calle 60. I thought it would have been done by now. Not sure what it’s taking so long. They finished 47 way faster.
To be honest, flooding happens on a street by street basis. It’s worse in centro because of all the trash on the streets blocking the drains. This area is a mostly middle class area of Merida that probably has flooding but its street by street. A few years ago, 2019 there were horrible flooding and because of 100 year weather events. The city is flat, drainage is poor, so it will flood. Much like the freeway in Dallas when it gets heavy rains. Except we are in the tropics so there is a rainy season.
I have been figuring out, do I want to live in Mexico City or Merida and people’s videos and comments about Merida being soooo hot and that’s why Americans leave. You seemed just normal weather in this video. Merida has much less people and that is what I want.😅
@@Mexitplans goodness. 🤣 it’s such a difficult decision when I come in a few weeks to see what I think before I make the move for permanent. I am turning 51 and I enjoy peace, less crime, low rent $, great public transportation because I won’t have a vehicle, and vegan food….what would you do? Where you are, or move to Mexico City regardless the heat ???
@@lucian_73 2 of your 3 criteria are met with Merida, low crime and less rent. I like to visit Mexico City but for a place to live it’s Merida. Mexico City is a MEGA city larger than any other city I’ve been to. It has the population of the entire state of Florida. When it’s hot like yesterday we stayed inside under the AC. Today, is a beach or cenote day. We also went to the mall last night and my daughter went ice skating. The heat is manageable. You will feel it more with no car. Lots of good vegan options here.
They did what it seems a clever word game with "Va-y-Ven", since phonetically sounds like the word "vaivén" which is very easy to remember and say. "Vaivén" means swinging. The 'natural' alternative "Ve y ven" or "Ve y Regresa" sound awful and clumsy. It doesn't flow.

Another great & informative video. I appreciate you spinning the block so we could get a look around too. Thanks Monte. 👍🏾
Thanks. My pleasure. I was soooo tired that day.
@@Mexitplans Summer is coming. Stay cool.
I'm geeking because I understood what you asked the attendant and her reply!
I know the feeling when you have these milestones. 😊

You are getting this content creation gig quite right, congrats!
Wow. Thank you!
Looks like it’s pretty easy to get around in the Merida area. Thanks for the tour Monte! Nice comfortable bus service!
It’s getting easier. When this system has all the routes open it will be amazing and comfortable.
Your videos were super helpful before our tirp. Now they help us reminece
Awwwww. I’m so glad they were helpful. Thank you for watching.
Thank you, Monte! I'm gonna check out some of these new ways to get around before I arrive 20:24 .

The colors are so vivid. What kind of camera do you use?
Osmo pocket 2 and 3 for this video with some adjustments in post production.

Tren Maya
Yup.
I understood that too!! 16:16
Awesome!
Can you talk about the suggested Panama Canal like plan for Mexico. Thanks
I’m planning a video soon. I wanted to try and take that route but it was not open, yet.
does that area have a problem with flooding? If it does then what?

Good to know. I’m messed this name up for years.
Those electric buses look so out of place with the surroundings
That’s why it’s interesting. A 482 year old with all electric transit soon.
You forgot to say that it's completely electric sistem. VIVA MEXICO ❤ 🇲🇽
I mentioned it at the station when the 1st tram rolled up and I didn’t hear it. But it was brief.
