My cat is the same way. Takes right over. She knows that she is the queen and treated accordingly! Thanks for the great video. The lines on those Deville's are very classy. They still look great parked on the street in downtown Manhattan.
Same thing happened to me. A bulb burnt out and I decided to go hid instead of buying a halogen bulb set for around the same price. Im glad I watched your video as I have the identical dts. I am very excited to install them. Thank you for making the instructional video.
@@RobHoffmann20 yea thnks for the reply i fiqured out a good space just finshing up the lights now they look great i didnt need to switch the polriaty of the lights they worked plug nd play i did end up breaking both the balljoint connectors tho i used jb weld apoxy clay like substance to fix them
broaden, i am a retired Cadillac mechanic, you need to change you H I D 35W/D1S lamp, you will need to pull away the fender and the grill, (make sure you pull all the clips and bolts) this is very important. give your self enough room to work. don't try to force the head light assembly, you may just tweek the fender Also when replacing lamp DO NOT, I REPEAT! DO NOT TOUCH any part of the bulb or you will be doing it again in about six months to a year. Good luck
your question confuses me a little, the ballast will be required to have an HID bulb, essentially the ballast takes the 12V source from your car and transforms it into a much higher voltage to create an arc in the bulb to "light it up" so technically if you were to install an HID bulb with no ballast nothing would happen. Both the HID bulb and the ballast are required to allow this system to work.
I know this is really old, but I just got them and wanted to know, I read somewhere that the daytime running lights will actually cause these to burn out, because they're constantly on, but at a lower voltage, has your hids been working after a while?
I just bought the 6000k HID low beams and forgot to get the ballasts but i have ordered them and will get them Friday. But my question is i read that u zip tied the ballast to the front fender. How did u get to it from the top under the hood or from the bottom of the car.
When mine began to flicker or was not long before they stopped working. I bought a 2nd pair of bulbs (LED) the 2nd time and they also eventually failed. I now have standard halogen bulbs again. It's not an upgrade i would do again. The LEDs were designed to work with daytime running lights but i suspect they were the cause of early failure.
My lights are the normal lights that came with the vehicle. Not sure if led or halogen. You are saying it is the lights and not the ballasts or the switch?
You should take it to someone. I bet there could be alot of things that may cause it. I haven't got a clue how to even begin. Maybe look at some forms?
i Believe for me i needed to use the 35 watt ballast with a 35watt bulb... and the 50 watt ballast with a 50 watt bulb. i dont think you can mix them. but i could be wrong.
So these aren't illegal and blind other drivers? Everyone tells I can't put HIDS in my 2005 cadillac deville but I still want to. Do u have any problems so far or get any tickets or anything?
MrMayn505 it is illegal to put HIDs in a housing designed for halogen, yes. But getting pulled over...probably not. So many cars have HIDs now that it's really hard for cops to distinguish illegal from legal. Now, if you put 8000K HIDs in a 1996 Civic obviously a cop is going to pull you over. But go for 6000K and you should be fine

Happy it could help you out. these lights are a day and night difference when driving. Much better night vision.
Oooh, you got the night vision! I’m not jealous at all. 😒
They are awesome! im very happy with the lights.
worked great! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
if the light turns on normal will i need to change the polirtry of the light
If the light is working when you plug it in you shouldn't be changing polarity.
Oh cat, you never fail to amuse! STRAIGHT FOR THE EMTPY BOX!!! XD
damn thats a loud ass caddy
lol yea its a bit loud. Its not brand new any more. over 150,000Kms now.
where did you put the ballet
The ballast was just tucked behind the headlight. it wasn't too large from memory.

@@_li1.loc3_8 Old plastic can be brittle that's for sure at least you were able to fix it.
Cheers,
I have a 2003 caddy I put led lights in it and somebody put high and low different then the driver side !!!! So does high go on top or bottom?
The top lamp is the low beam, The bottom lamp is the high beam. Good luck!
Cheers,

I thought bout doin a video too, cus i have 6k hids in my 01 deville with led turn signals, reverse, side markers, and tag lights...
So is it necessary to change the ballast when you install HIDs. Because im looking to do the same thing on my 2002 deville.
your question confuses me a little, the ballast will be required to have an HID bulb, essentially the ballast takes the 12V source from your car and transforms it into a much higher voltage to create an arc in the bulb to "light it up" so technically if you were to install an HID bulb with no ballast nothing would happen. Did you aim them so they don't blind everyone? The factory housing has aiming abilities.
Okay Im gonna get a 55w kit from retrosolutions.. I hear 55w burns cooler so I assume It woulnt tear up my new headlight housings
Where did you mount the ballasts? There's little to no room to work with
I found i had a-lot of room in the fender area. I was able to zip tie them up in the front fenders. Thanks for the view.
Any alternatives when I dont have a drill or anything of the sort to make the hole?
what type of screws are the weird looking ones? because I don't have the right kind of bit in my ratchet set
hell yeah
@Robhoffmann20 did you use a relay harness?
Misdeal no I did not, these were just plug and play in my case.
did you have to reverse poliarity on driver and passenger side, or just the driver side?
Misdeal both drivers and passenger side needed the polarity to be switched on the connector.
Did you have to remove the relay and fuse in the underhood fuse box for DRL's. I heard that day time running lamps wreak havoc on HIDs.
I never thought about that... haven't had any issues arise.. so far with mine all is well.
Awesome! How do you like them so far
RobbHoffman 20 what size kit is that 9006 or another size?
Also what kit are these if I may ask?
I know this is really old, but I just got them and wanted to know, I read somewhere that the daytime running lights will actually cause these to burn out, because they're constantly on, but at a lower voltage, has your hids been working after a while?
you are completly correct. from my understanding you need to disable the DRL to run HID's
+RobHoffmann20 oh damn, anyway to do that? I have this same model car but it has drls
+Bobtart12 look under the hood in the fuse panel, try pulling out the DRL fuse. not sure if anything else is connected but that may work
+RobHoffmann20 yours didn't have drl when you did it in this video? I thought all models of the dts had them

When you remove the headlight you have access within the fender area.
thank you
I have a 2006 DTS. The lights randomly flicker and sometimes shut off. Is this a sign that the bulbs are failing, or the ballasts? Or something else?

What k are they
I got the low beam n fogs on my 03 dts. Been so long I forgot if 35 or 50 watt.. if I wanna upgrade to 50 can I use same bulbs?
i Believe for me i needed to use the 35 watt ballast with a 35watt bulb... and the 50 watt ballast with a 50 watt bulb. i dont think you can mix them. but i could be wrong.
Where did you get the bulbs from?
bought em online... but have since upgraded to LED bulbs.

I have an 02 deville. When I decide to put HID's on, is it mandatory to switch the polarity, or is it on certain models it's necessary for?
if the light does not work then you will switch polarity.
+RobHoffmann20 awesome thanks
whats the name of the HID's?
KITTY!
yepp lol
Do you need to order the warning canceler with the kit?
JIMBO SLICE I did not need that with my car. some vehicles may need it. best to do some searching in forms or calling the manufacturer and asking
RobHoffmann20 I have 02 Deville I just picked up so I was wondering if I needed it. Thanks.
