Wow. This has certainly taken on a completely different vibe from when it was filmed. Lauren must be mortified. But it shows that some people are not who you think they are. He showed his Ugly to the world and it may well cost him his career. Of course jerks like him act that way no matter what field they’re in, and I bet he has friends in high places that will help him. Well, he did have immense talent. Combined with good look and some moderate social skills, it’s kind of hard to tell if a guy is a total weirdo or not. I don’t really want to blame Lauren for not being aware of that. Some people are just good at hiding themselves.

TheCrazyPowerGirl It's often a signature step for the ballerina in the Balanchine repertoire. He loved to choreograph pliés on pointe, and a lot of NYCB choreographer took after him, it seems.

In the second female variation of Balanchine's "Tarantella," are the wildest pliés on pointe I can recall.
He is a real POS. I truly hope he gets wth he deserves.i saw him in another documentary where they showed him with his parents. Seems like he considered himself above the law. He had a very entitled attitude and I can see by the way he acted around his parents that they encourage that. I bet they're wishing they hadn't now. All those type of people are probably standing beside him saying "not our boy he would never do something like that" smh

I used to re-watch a lot of these videos. This one popped up in my recommends again. I used to love this video. Now with Chase having resigned and the allegations against him & two other male dancers at NYCB this video is super weird and uncomfortable. One wonders if these tendencies where why this couple ended up separating.

He seemed fake from the first time he was featured, when he was visiting with his parents, playing golf with his father. When he said he grew up in Fairfield, CT, I had to stop myself from disliking him for being an upper crust, wealthy, phony, prep school bastard. That's frequently the type of human being created in WASP-y communities like his hometown.
I stopped my judging immediately because he's a ballet dancer and perhaps cut from a different cloth. Then when I saw him smoking the cigar with his father, and the two of them going back and forth for the camera...it all rang fake to me, even allowing for the fact that not everyone can be or "act natural" on camera. He and his father seemed really fake, not nice people at all.
Then to read about his conduct with Ms. Waterbury, and to hear Lauren say "he was too popular, and I was too weird." Predator.
A man genuinely confident doesn't pair up with a woman who feels that way about herself. Power imbalance. Narcissist and self-loather.
Happened in my marriage. I'm not married to that person anymore, and it destroyed my sense of self to be with someone who only sought to elevate themselves.
I feel for Ms. Waterbury and Ms. Lovette.

In light of recent events and revelations, could the NYCB please remove this video and all videos including Chase Finlay from the NYCB youtube and promotions. In current context this is sick and offensive, especially in reference to 'company romance'. Its continued presence is immensely disrespectful towards Ms Waterbury and others affected. The minimum appropriate action of removing this video would be greatly appreciated.
This video is not on NYCB's channel and therefore it is not up to them to remove it

When I was 15 and I was struggling to come out as gay I began dancing ballet and tap. One of the many reasons was precisely to find kindred souls, it was so lonely to be a gay teenager in my city. I wanted gay male friends of the same age. What a disappointment! There were only 8 boys in the school I trained, and I was the only gay kid there.
I was never really good and I quit dancing at the age of 17. How ironic that ten years later I found out 4 of my male classmates in highschool were gay, but like me, closeted.
Anyway, contrary to stereotypes, most males in Ballet are straight.
