"You have to take devotional delight in the details. You go in and you do the same movements every day, day in and day out. Soon there has to be an incredible single-mindedness and focus and intensity of purpose." -Silas Farley
The first time I saw a video with Silas Farley I thought his enthusiasm for life was infectious. His faith showed before this video. I absolutely love that!!!
WOW I so admire Silas Farley for faithfully dedicating his dance life to Christ. What I find even more refreshing and surprising is that his faith story was kept in this video, and not cut out because it has to do with God!
Silas, you're such a breath of fresh air! Your joy in doing what God has asked of you and gifted you with, and your boldness to unashamedly give him praise and all the credit is convicting and inspiring. Keep representing Him, He is making a difference!
As a musician, I feel very close to them. I breath music, eat, sleep, practice and repeat. If I don't, I feel like buried alive. Also, what I do at my instrument feels like that is totally what I'm meant to be. There's nothing I've ever experienced that is mentally, physically, emotionally and personally s challenging as music. You're on the right track when you constantly literally jump of cliffs and do what is the most difficult thing to do, in every aspect. Its so fulfilling, it's the best thing in the world. And on the other hand, there's A LOT of frustration to deal with, treason, sore muscles, desperation. But without it, the moments of perfection wouldn't be as sweet. Those ballet dancers are very inspiring to me, maybe even more since I'm going to be an opera singer, and my instrument is my body.
This is the best episode of Season 2. So much of this is focused onballet (as it should be) but being able to see the outside lives and passions of these people besides their identities as dancers was amazingg
Wow NewYorkCityBallet and Harvard Graduate at the same time!! but what inspires me even more was his Faith in God and his Statement on -' my identity is in Christ, not that i m a dancer ' Thank You Sila=)
@@smaree1703 Well, I'm an atheist myself, but there's so much violence and ugliness in this world, including the ballet world (just look up the Finley case) that the fact that a young man speaks of his faith as the source of inspiration for his artistic life seems so pure and innocent to me. Nothing wrong with it.
As an animator, my "secret life" is dancing, I could relate very much with the dancer that draws because she is like me but the other way around, for me dancing doesn't have to be perfect and it's completely for myself
alright, that`s what I expected. Cause many people here say he`s a "Harvard-Graduate" and while I also really admire his work & his passion, I honestly don`t think it`s possible do to both things at the same time.
He didn't go to Harvard he just got in. He was accepted into Harvard as well as the nycb and chose nycb but his academic goals were still to be accepted to that school
ah someone takes their faith seriously, but thats ok, if your not pouring your heart into everything you do, then you are not doing your best,so too with dance, though depending how its used and the message you tell with it can be a strong good or bad, but if you aren't putting your heart into it you aren't really dancing. and as for the pretty girl that does the poetry, you can you cant stomp your foot in anger, well depends on the dance, if you tap dance you certainly can, and there is always the rosin box, find a huge chunk and stomp that thing like a cockroach hehe. of course channeling you energy into something creative and postive is much better, after all its said its easier to tear down and destroy then it is to create and bring to life.

Watching these, it's so clear what a mismatch chase and lauren were.
Glad she realized.
nala beans why?

@M S oh my... I see what you mean... I feel so disgusted:(
Silas is so well spoken; I love listening to him. I hope we get another season of this series!
nycb AND harvard?! wow impresssive!
ellen roberts I know! now THAT is hard work!!! that is inspiring to me.
That is exactly what I was thinking!!
The grace of God... 💕

@@smaree1703 lol don't talk about things you clearly don't understand. typical internet atheist.

I'm in love with Lauren
Lauren is such a joy to watch. Her cheerful, enthusiastic personality always shows in her dancing.
Any chance of a season 3?? Would absolutely LOVE to see more!
Anna-Carolina i second this comment!! i love this series
I really wish they would make another season especially now after all of the negative press, it would bring the focus back to dance and not drama.
Lauren’s such an artist too!
this is probably my favourite episode!

really loved this episode. I enjoyed seeing everyone different creative inspirations. :)
Excelent video, they are so humble
LOVE seeing faithfilled dancers :) It's hard to put God first when ballet asks you to worship it every day.
always good to be show the light
Thank you for posting this. I really needed this.
how did he study at Harvard and pursued a professional dancing career at the same time? that sounds impossible to me
He didn't study at Harvard, he applied and was accepted.

coming soon originals on sexual abuse at NYC Balllet
I hope some scientists clone lots of Lauren and replace everyone.
i love her so much!!... the guy, not so much ;)... kind of a creepy vibe
This Farley kid's over-zealousness and affectations get ever more annoying.
There's no need to be rude, he seems like a really sweet, genuine, and expressive person.
Don’t be jealous.
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I think he’s great.
Silas is clearly gay, and it's so sad that he is not willing to embrace that.
Who said he doesn't embrace it?
If you're medieval then you would accept the premise that slavery is acceptable - as it confirms in the bible hmmm
The irony is that you totally misinterpret what he and what the Bible said.
Wow people get paid to dance? What a joke.
You're an idiot. They work extremely hard.
@Heidi No I am confused that is all. Why get paid to do something useless. Cut it and put that money into medical research.
@Heidi You call this art? This isn't exactly a Symphony Orchestra or painting that is beautiful.
@Heidi Yeah. Don't argue next time. Save us both the trouble. I was right.
